Golden Steering Wheel for Peter Schreyer

Bavarian-born Schreyer has been Chief Design Officer at Kia Motors since 2006 and was appointed President of all Hyundai-Kia Design Centres at the beginning of 2013. With overall design responsibility for the world’s fifth largest car manufacturer, Schreyer is only the second designer in the 31-year history of the Golden Steering Wheel to receive the award. Giorgetto Giugiaro received it in 1995.

Peter Schreyer trained at the Munich University of Applied Sciences and the London Royal College of Art, which presented him with an honorary doctorate in 2007. Prior to joining Kia, Schreyer was responsible for the design of pioneering models such as the Audi TT, Volkswagen’s new Beetle and the Volkswagen Passat.

At Kia, Schreyer has developed a design philosophy that stands for simplicity and clarity, which has made a considerable contribution to the success of the brand – in the past five years, Kia has doubled its global sales and in 2012 sold more than 2.7 million cars

Unfortunately you will have to wait till the launch of the FL K5 as nobody have any clue on the price yet. So any offer now might not be applicable if there are changes. hmm.gif

My budget is around 150k. To me, Mazda 6 2.0 is too kosong for a 160k car. For Accord, I am worry about the engine mounting defect that faced by the previous model. K5 is a bit under power due to the 18" rims but the features is the one made my decision.

Btw, I am 30 yrs old now. Why ask such question?  brows.gif  brows.gif

The demand for Korean cars has increase tremendously therefore effecting the delivery of the vehicle to Malaysia. Anyway the New K5 facelift will be launch next month. rclxms.gif

Here are some of news for those who like figures. thumbup.gif

Meanwhile, July sales in General Markets* and Europe* decreased by 4.6% (43,342 units sold) and 0.6% (49,783 units sold), correspondingly. I went to Edwin SC for my first service and left my car for inspection for 2 days. They told me the report was opened to NAZA Kia Malaysia and then forwarded to HQ Kia Korea. Since then no more follow up and update. When I call to SC, the service manager told me pending Kia Korea and the same answer when I call careline. This has been dragging for almost 4 months without any progress and the mentioned noise is getting louder which I'm not sure it is from the same part of chassis or the front suspension which was claimed working fine.

Actually there is 1 case where a member from K5 club facing the same issue but the provided workaround was not solving the issue completely and it looks like trial and error. Hopefully Kia has the proper solution and not the try and see method.

Now I'm feeling sad that my new car is having the defects since the first day and it never been resolved. KIA, I want a problem free replacement unit instead of this  doh.gif . At the end of the day, for all the potential Kia buyers please do think twice before you get one as the Korea QC is not as good as what you think it is even it is a CBU unit. The worst case is the service which they don't even know what is wrong and how to fix it. GOOD LUCK to me  sad.gif

Hi, sorry to hear about your problem. I had just check with my SC about the complaint and they had done what an SC is suppose to do. They had brought the complaint to Naza Kia and had also forwarded Kia Korea.

I would like to explain a little bit here with regards to body noise. There are mechanical noise and structural noise. Structural noise are always more complex to solve compare to any mechanical noise. Mechanical noise normally involve replaceable or moving parts but a structural noise is a different problem all together. It might involve the body, design, welding joint and so on.

If the noise is a mechanical noise our SC will change any faulty parts ,tighten any loose parts necessary without any hesitation and solve the problem once and for all. But if the noise is a structural one then no SC are suppose to do anything without any expert advise from Kia Korea. Just as an example and for everyone understanding an SC cannot simply just dismantle any body parts, chassis, weld it and put it back. There are also safety and warranty issue to consider.

There are also limits what my SC or any SC can do when face with such a problem. I only hope for your patient and also hope that Kia Kore will come back with remedy/remedies that can solve your complaint. It might take some time but I believe your problem will be solve eventually.

Hi, there were many different comments on steering performance. One person might find the steering is good & light but another person might find it just the opposite. It is not only the vehicle itself that determine the results but other factors may also have significant effect on the feel and comfort.
One of the most important factor is the correct sitting & hand driving position. This is always the first topic that is taught in any advance driving course before anything else. Here is a video which I like to share:

Hopefully these tips will be helpful to enhance everyone driving pleasure & skills.
