QUOTE(sweetpea123 @ Mar 18 2013, 01:40 AM) how do we know we are getting a 2013 model and not the 2012 ? Where to look ? Female car-noob here. I would suggest that you take 2013 model, simply to get higher resale value when you sell next time.If this has been asked, sorry. Dont have the 'luxury' of going through v1/v2. Too many posts. Decided to start reading from V3 instead. Thanks in advance . |

Hope you'll have many more great moments with your new ride! The second is I had received my white K5 - the awesome car. The features I most love is the Speed Limit and most I hate is the seat belt warning sound Thanks to KS Loh (buydirect) for the plenty of free gift Cheers, KS Loh 012-2359910 |

QUOTE(seongmeng @ Mar 21 2013, 03:20 PM) FOr Nu Engine type, we have Cruise Control and also new feature = Speed Limiter" No, this is not how the Speed limiter works. Once you set the speed limit, and if your car exceeds that speed limit, the indicator will blink, followed by a chime to warn you that you are over-speeding. It does not prevent your car from going faster than the speed limit, as this would be very dangerous. Imagine if you are overtaking on a car on a trunk road, and suddenly you have loss of power! Hope this explains. Cheerswhen set the speed limit let say on 100km/h, no matter how you press the gas pedal, your top speed is only 100km/h max! |

QUOTE(Orbituary @ Mar 21 2013, 04:49 PM) Theta II Just to put them into the same unit for comparison:The Optima K5 features Kia Motors' fuel efficient Theta II 2.0 engine which produces 165bhp and 198Nm of torque and mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that can be manually controlled through paddle shifters. Combined fuel consumption is rated at only 7.6 litres/100km. NU Euro4 2013 Kia K5, they are equipped with the new "Nu 2.0 CVVL" engine that replaces the Theta 2.0 MPi engine. The all new "Nu 2.0 CVVL" engine produces 172PS of power and 20.5kg-m of torque. This will provide a maximum fuel economy of 14km/L but if you come with an "IDLE STOP & GO" option, it will achieve 14.8km/L of fuel economy. This is going to be the first Korean-made vehicles to come with a Continuous Variable Valve Lift technology ever to be on sale in South Korea". Copy and paste from the result that i search from google, hope this will help Theta II max power :165 ps @ 2000 rpm Nu CVVL max power : 172 ps @ ? rpm Theta II max torque :198 Nm or 20.2 kg.m @ 4600 rpm Nu CVVL max torque :201 Nm or 20.5 kg.m @ ? rpm Theta II fuel consumption : 13.16 Km/liter Nu CVVL Fuel Consumption : 14.00 Km/liter Cheers! QUOTE(seongmeng @ Mar 21 2013, 09:12 PM) i strange that the other sales man also told me it will blink sound for the speed limiter, you all salesman should test drive the car itself before giving wrong info to client... This point is clearly stated even in the owner's manual, it is not a wrong info or a made-up assumption. As to why your car does not respond as such, when you floored the accelerator is quite a puzzle. Can any other K5 owners attest to this Speed Limiter function and share? Thanks |

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Mar 22 2013, 12:20 PM) Then why bother having a speed limiter if it can be bypassed manually by your foot? Might as well stick to the cruise control since the function is the same? The speed limiter works to WARN you against any impending "saman", more so with the implementation of the AES these days. Ultimately, it is a form of control, so that the driver is aware that he has not exceeded the speed limit of the road.. How many times, do we not realize that we have exceeded the speed limit, while busy chatting away inside the car, or as we go down a slope? |

QUOTE(ckwong111 @ Mar 23 2013, 03:28 PM) Tried the above at MEX just now, set the speed limiter to 110km/h. Floor the pedal to the end for a few seconds, and the engine gave out a loud grunge, and the speed shoot up to 120km/h. Quickly release the pedal as RPM meter goes to 5k. Did the indicator blink and warning chime turn on when you went up to 120 km/hr? |

Do you know that when you press the rear demister/defog button on your K5, your side mirror is also heated up to clear any water vapour that obsure your vision?

QUOTE(Stock^K5 @ Mar 27 2013, 05:03 PM) Hey guys, can i ask u guys a question.. which is a better way to start your car. Option 1, is the standard way to start engine Option 1: Hold down the break, and push the ignition? or Option 2: Press on the ignition 2 times, hold down the breaks and then start? Bcos the way both option starts the engine sounds different. Weird.. Option 2, is only used when Option 1 fails. Sometimes, the brake switch is faulty, and the car is unable to detect any braking, thus would not allow the engine to start. The owner should then send the car to the SC to change the brake switch at the earliest convenience. Thank YOu |

QUOTE(Myoswee @ Apr 4 2013, 02:43 PM) Hyundai, Kia Recall 1.7 Million Vehicles on Electronics[U] Recalls can also been seen from a positive perspective, that the company acknowledges a manufacturing defect and take responsibility for it. It is worse, if the company knows the defect, and decide to keep quiet about it, to save cost and not taking any risk which may tarnish the brand image.... until the worse happens.Hyundai Motor Co. (005380), South Korea’s largest automaker, and its affiliate Kia Motors Corp. (000270) recalled more than 1.7 million vehicles from five model years for electronic defects. Their shares fell. Hyundai dropped 3.2 percent to 211,000 won, poised for its steepest loss since Jan. 25, as of 9:38 a.m. on the Korea Exchange. Kia sank 3.1 percent, while the benchmark Kospi index fell 1 percent. The frame of a 2011 Hyundai Sonata is welded by robots on the assembly line in the body weld building at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) plant in Montgomery, Alabama on Oct. 13, 2010. The recall includes 2011 Sonatas. Kia Motors Corp., also based in Seoul, is recalling 623,658 vehicles for the same defect. About 1.1 million vehicles are affected by a possible malfunction causing faults including preventing brake lights from illuminating and the cruise control from turning off, raising the risk of a crash, Hyundai said on the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website. Kia is recalling 623,658 vehicles for the same defect. The automakers combined sold 1.26 million cars and light trucks in the U.S. last year. “The latest recall doesn’t seem to be an issue that could hurt brand image of the South Korean carmakers in the U.S.,” Im Jeong Jae, a Seoul-based fund manager at Shinhan BNP Paribas Asset Management Co., which oversees about $29 billion, said by phone today. “Given that the actual costs they have to cover are marginal, today’s share-price drop is excessive.” The malfunctioning switches cause affected electronics to not work intermittently and don’t affect brake performance, Jim Trainor, a U.S.-based spokesman for Hyundai, said in an e-mail. Affected Models The recall includes Accents and Tucsons from model years 2007 to 2009, Elantras from 2007 to 2010, Santa Fes from 2007 to 2011, Veracruzes from 2008 to 2009, 2010 to 2011 Genesis Coupes and 2011 Sonatas. The Elantra is Hyundai’s best-selling car in the U.S. this year, according to Autodata Corp., an auto researcher. Kia’s recall includes Rondos and Sportages from model years 2007 to 2010, Sorentos from 2007 to 2011, Sedonas from 2007, Souls from 2010 to 2011 and Optimas from 2011. The stop-lamp defect can also lead to intermittent operation of the push-button start, prevent the gear shifter from being moved out of the park position, or cause the electronic stability control malfunction light to illuminate, according to the NHTSA filings. The vehicles included in the latest recall were built after a previous Hyundai recall for stop-lamp switch replacement, the company said in a March 29 letter to NHTSA. The company, in the letter, told regulators it changed its production process since the 2009 recall and that the cars and trucks in the new recall were manufactured before all the changes were made. Canada Probe A Transport Canada investigation led to the new recall following a November notification that it had received nine complaints about stop-lamp switch replacement for vehicles not included in the first recall. In an unrelated notice posted, Hyundai said it recalled 186,254 Elantras from the 2011 to 2013 model years. Support brackets attached to the lining along the top of a car’s interior can detach when a side-curtain air bag deploys, it said. Shares of Hyundai have fallen 4.1 percent this year, while Kia has lost 5.5 percent. The Kospi index has slipped 1.6 percent |
