Here is the damage, inner tail light (right), and the scratch on the rear bumper.
*
Sorry to see the damage on your K5. The scratches can be easily repaired and re-painted. As for the tail light, it is just scratched or broken?

I heard interest rate for new k5 went up?
*
Not just for K5 but across the entire auto industry. This is due to Bank Negara raising the cost of fund and all banks have no choice but to follow.

Amy chance of it increasing or decreasing in near future?

Of course the rate will change from time to time, that is a certainty but as to when it will increase or decrease, it is anybody's guess.

5 years warranty, but as far as i know US is offering 10 years warranty or 100K KM. Why can't we get 10 years too ??

http://www.kia.com/us/en/content/why-kia/quality/warranty

Thanks for the feeback. I've been searching around internet/forum, still can't detect any major defect reported especially gearbox or engine which is good. This model first launch in Malaysia in 2010 rite?
*
US is a very big market that's very competitive and is very significant in terms of economy of scale. Everything that has economy of scale bring down the product cost, in which the retailer is able to return that to the consumer by providing longer warranty period.

hi,

apparently im getting interested with k5. seen a few in mudah from direct owner. interested in a few seller.

one with year of 2012. got back air-cond blower for back passenger. I think using Theta 2 engine.

my question is, what is the different of the 2012 and 2013 version? the one with air cond blower should be the later version compared with first few earlier batch right?
*
Out of more than 100 units, there were about 40 units of Optima K5 in 2012 that came in without the rear air-con vent for back passengers. For some reason, despite the absence of those vents, Naza still brought them in and offered them for sale in the market, perhaps due to limited supply from Kia Korea.

In my opinion, if you drive the car alone most of the time, then it's worth considering, if the price is good. Otherwise, better to take those with aircon vents, because this is something that you cannot upgrade later and the rear passengers will have to bear without the comfort of cool air-conditioning. Remember, what you "invest" now, you can recover it later when you sell off the car, relatively speaking of course.

Phone contact not showing.
I have synced my samsung galalxy S5 via bluetooth but evenrytime i get a call the contacts dont show u. it only shows the number. Even in the call history it shows only the number without the name.
I have already downloaded the contacts multiple time.
DO you know a solution to this?

Thanks
*
Did you try pairing the bluetooth using another phone? It could be phone compatibility issue.

The phone book could be over-quota. Let's say the limit is 1000 numbers, but you have more than that and the numbers that dial in could be your 1238, hence it is not "captured" , hence it is unable to display. Just a possible teory.

i 2nd that. Went to Serdang AZ Master and see see both K5 and Sportage. Both interior and exterior is quite nice. The only DOWNSIDE is the HU,which is so SMALL and no navi features. No premium feel even thou K5 is a D-Seg car.

Sigh...  hmm.gif

K5 is fully imported in CBU form, as we all know. Firstly, there is the cost factor if Naza were to bring in audio unit with DVD player/Built-in GPS Navi system. K5 facelift was launched, right after the General election, and virtually all forms of government taxes went up, including cars. That's why the retail price shot up by 6K. To add the big screen player is to shoot up the cost beyond RM149K which is a psychological figure and may not be a wise marketing decision.

Secondly, Head units with DVD player/GPS need more local technical support as it is more complicated, such as Navi software programming, licencing, replacement, repairs, spare parts etc. That's why, even for Forte and Cerato, the headunit with DVD/GPS are sourced by Naza directly and not imported from Kia Korea.

RM 700 for a double din HU is very cheap. Abit suspicious.

This is probably not suitable for the facelifted K5 as they are many functions and features on the K5 that may not work with this after-market Headunit. In fact Naza accessories division used to offer a head unit for the previous version of K5 but it is no longer compatible with the current new facelift.

Just a friendly reminder to those seeking to get their cars before the Raya festive holidays, please place your booking by this week as we are only about 2.5 weeks away and there is not much time left. At this moment, HP submission /registration cases have increased significantly at the banks and JPJ and processing is much slower compared to other normal times due to higher volume. Hence, do make your purchase early or risk not having your brand new car for the long festive holidays ahead. Avoid last minute hastle due to congestion at banks/JPJ, if possible. Cheers!

On a trip to USA last year, I booked for a budget car at Alamo West Katella.  They gave me a Kia Optima K5.  Altis and Camry belongs to the mid size or standard categories and I need to pay more for rentals.  After driving the car about 4000 miles through grand Canyon, flagstaff, Yosemite until new Mexico.  In summary, the car is solid,  stable at any speed and very comfortable.  The low points for the car includes high fuel consumption (petrol USD4/gallon) and booming 2.4 engine that struggled like crazy to climb Yosemite.  In USA, base price for this car is USD22k, here we pay through the nose to own the car.  In here, I drove a 10 years old kia spectra! Ha ha

You mean you were offered 3 models, the K5, Altis or Camry for the same rental but you selected the K5? Sorry to ask, coz your message is not very clear.

The 8 inch Touch screen display is outsourced by Naza directly and not from Korea. As such any 8 inch Head Unit will only be available for CKD models, and not semi-KD units such as K5, Sportage or Sorento.

Firstly, the cost to import any 8 inch Head Unit (complete with DVD/GPS) pre-installed from Korea will be very high and may not be viable in our competitive auto market. Secondly, there is a question of after-sales support for the GPS software as well as the hardware i.e repairs, replacement, change of parts that require local support and volume.

When you leave the number to chances, you are likely to get least favoured number because most the choice numbers have been bought /taken by others....

If the condition is good, why not? I just sold the unit that I posted the other day to one new lucky owner. The loan has just been approved. I think anything at or below RM100K for a 2 year old K5 is a great buy, if the car is accident free and in relatively good working condition. If there is any problem, remember you still have another 3 years warranty.

It's now OFFICIAL. Kia Malaysia has just announced that they will discontinue SMOKEY BLUE color (see attached picture) from the standard choices, effective this month. However, there are still limited units Smokey Blue left in the market and for those who are keen, suggest that you get them before they run out of stock and go into extinction....

Just to share that 2014 Optima stocks is running low. For those who are seriously considering getting it at the current promotional price, hope you can decide fast before the stock runs out or risk getting only 2015 year make at a less competitive pricing. As it is, Aurora black color will be going out of stock soon. There are only limited Satin Metal and Smokey blue. KMC (Kia Motors Corporation) has also announced that Satin Metal will be discontinued, hence there will be no Satin Metal for 2015 models.
