Well about two weeks ago I started airbrushing some plastic models .After finishing I noticed that I wasn't wearing my mask properly (first time) and started coughing a lot .Now it's not as bad(I cough once 15 minutes or so.... still there) .I've looked at the internet and seen all the people going to ER (ouch!) and was wondering if anybody could help. And I really hope it isn't serious .Can somebody tell me anything?
(I was using Mr Color paint)
(P.S first time posting)

QUOTE(Sapphirox @ Aug 14 2012, 12:55 AM) Well first time hehe You need to make sure that your room is well ventilated to let the chemical out. Otherwise, please invest in high quality mask. Those n95 grade is good.

although i never airbrushed but i do know that wearing mask ( best to include goggle ) and airbrushing in ventilated environment is actually common sense right ? cuz paint is hazardous material no matter if its industrial or model kit paint so thats why oretega is in shock

1) wear a proper mask - not the type the doc gives us when you have a flu. 2) wear gloves - i use the cheapo use and throw away kind as paint gives me rashes at times. 3) spray in a well ventilated place, or invest in a spray booth 4) there is a painting thread to ask these kinda questions btw.

Well yeah I use a mask but it was a bit too loose especially during the last stages of airbrushing .Also I spray in a well ventilated space (practically outdoors).I was just worried that I inhaled a too much fumes during painting . I personally don't think it's serious but I just thought I asked .

when do the airbrush, the paint become very small particle.... if you not wear the mask properly, the particle can accumulated inside your lung and stay there.... that why when do any job that related to any dust or fine particle, you must wear a proper mask...

It aint going to make u drop dead directly bro...the effect is long term.
Try go Ace hardware, look for kylon spray paint and read all the disclaimer. Have more information there (i guess they are forced to put by the US gahmen so they can sell in the states, same like our cigarrette here got gambar + "merokok menyebabkan cancer")

I dunno, I did inhaled some thinner vapor before but dun think like it could make u sick like that. Wear mask with gas catridge filter, not just a mask only.
