Do not worry about resale value?
Have spare cash for repair? Don't mind expensive maintenance? Then yes, you should go ahead, otherwise, no Just my 2 cents, I don't own both of the cars you mentioned |

If a common Volvo, agree with u but this model is quite rare so parts sure difficult to find even for chop parts. Chop shops don't simply bring in used parts if there are no market for them.Anything else, tanya unker potong kereta! Volvolution oso they have!!!! |

how many of these do u see on the roads? that's your answer. u get exclusiveness but at the other end u get EXCLUSIVE HEADACHES if something goes wrong. i can say this because my neighbour has a XC90. volvo isn't as reliable as u think. and if u want to sell it after 5 years, be prepared to loose 80% of it's value then.
as the chinese saying "cry also no tears" so u'll be forced to stick with it for life. for that kind of price, u'll be better off buying a new ford focus TDCI This post has been edited by stormlcc: Aug 13 2012, 07:07 PM |

hi jess, i think the thing here it shares the same parts as the s40, so it is not too expensive.
exclusive yes. But as always check the car condition first. Because u are buying used. you need to know the history. Unless you are buying with warranty. if it is just regular service, it is not expensive. but spare part change, probably more expensive than japanese, but in par with VW and BMW. |

QUOTE(wordtalks @ Aug 13 2012, 09:26 PM) Hey, I liked the C30 before and despite Twilight. Also a bit of a chick magnet, at least in Europe. Know a few nice girls who like the car Complaint from a friend (C30 owner and soon to be S5 owner... god I wish I was still in Europe, I'd buy his C30 then) is that you have little privacy, cars behind you can see right to the front due to the huge and low glass window at the back (good point, easy to park). Quality, performance and all is good. I mean that guy is upgrading to a S5 to feel it's an upgrade. Also it's a very pretty car, and of course also very safe. Not sure I'd buy it in Malaysia though. But anyway, the car has bad resale value (it's the same in Germany), but then again you are buying second hand, right? Isn't that a PLUS point then? |

But if Jessy yeo is a very daring, love to drive and love to be different and likes the style, then c30 is the car for you. otherwise, if you are not ready to face the image and owning a used continental, you can just admire the car. Better get something safe like Toyota, or honda, be like everyone else, Be safe. boring, expensive, cut throat, and obviously a follower. No style, blend. and of course being all these boring thing is safest without headache. Otherwise at 120K value, just buy the new civic, or civic hybrid. no one will question you. |

c30 looks pretty good in real life...only ever saw less than 10 of these in malaysia....resale value should be the same as ford focus since u are buying 2nd hand...don't worry about losing money...all cars lose money...yes volvo lose money faster but by now it should be half its value already....

Yeah. By now there is not so much value to lose... which is good, which is what one should be looking after. Only worry is parts and service center.
The C30 is quite a looker. Alfa too, but the C30 can hold up pretty nicely, and it should be a better car. |

Only worry is parts and service center. yes it lost half it's value already, how many years only? and it'll continue loosing significant value every year. as i said earlier, after five years u can expect it to loose around 70-80% more of it's current value, by the time u want to sell it, it may only cost 40-50k. so go on ahead, if u expect to keep the car until it dies, then it's ok. that's why the "Volvo for life" motto. The C30 is quite a looker. QUOTE(azbro @ Aug 15 2012, 06:05 AM) the only feedback from all my friends are, DON'T ever buy Volvo if u don't want to keep it until u r old. most of them says Volvo very good at first but after a couple of years, things start to go downhill and now they can't sell it because they ain't worth shxt. so they just keep it. From the first gen S40 and S60 until the XC90 also got friend buy, that's why i have so many feedback on this brand. now my neighbor wants to sell his XC90, the warranty also hasn't expire yet but the car value dropped almost 50%, he said he'll NEVER buy any kind of Volvo again. and also he says if the car always in workshop, better just buy Alfa, at least he will never get bored of looking at it while it's parked. This post has been edited by stormlcc: Aug 15 2012, 07:39 AM |

Volvo in the last years have beaten Merc and BMW in customer satisfaction and number of defects.
