last time due to sound tak tak all the way til i tak tahan, i jus walk in and the mechanic test drive with me, and told me sound is on the door panel, need to open and c what problem.

after when for 10k service, they told me sound is from dashboard, they jus fix the dashboard, the sound had reduce but somehow it do happen but no as noisy as be4.
*
mind to share what they did to fix the noise from dashboard? I also experiencing irritating noise coming from the dashboard, somewhere behind the radio unit I believe, the noise sounds like some metal or plastic thingy is loose and vibrates whenever the car moves through un-even roads or bumps. Anyone can help? thanks in advance.

My car milage is 17k now.it happened at around 5k, I have not send to SC yet but will do so maybe next week. The sound is quite loud at times. Funny tht this sound can appearand no solution.
Thanks for sharing.

I also happened to face noise coming from the front side passenger drawer there whenever moves through un-even road, guess what...the root cause of the noise is due to the lid of the drawer itself, after closing the drawer, there is still a gap between the drawer lid and the dashboard, so when car moves over uneven road surface, the drawer lid will vibrates and keep knocking thus produces the noise, solution is to place something heavy in the drawer so that the drawer lid won't vibrate, or paste some rubber tapes around the edge of the drawer lid to stop the noise.
After all, nowadays Toyota cars fit and finish is not really good already I would say. But this car is still nice to drive.

can, can fit, that's the biggest size our Vios can take and the lowest profile tire.. Car will be very underpowered due to larger surface area of tire contacting the road.. 215/40/17 tire size, or maybe can fit 45 too..
my Vios is using light weight 16" rim, 205/45/16 with custom exhaust by SuperCircuit, I don't feel the difference of power through tongue.gif I do feel the difference when I first changed the rim, pedal and no power, need to pedal fully for the car to respond in changing gear with higher rpm.. If you fon't mind about underpowered, you can go ahead, else modification on increasing torque is a must, turbocharged, custom exhaust, etc biggrin.gif
*
what is the smallest 16inch rim can Vios fits? 185/55 R16 is it fine?

Hi guys , need advise .. there is something inside the front seat belt (T-bar) that is moving and making knocking noises whenever the car accelerate and braking. Does anyone know what could possibly causing this ? Cos I dont know what is inside the T-bar plastic cover .. thanks in advance ...
*
i also used to face knocking noise from the seat belt cover there whenever the car moves through un-even road...eventually i slip in some paper to cushion the seat belt plastic so that it won't vibrate and knocking, after that no more such noise...hope this helps..

Do you mean the latest Vios which just launched?
Actually rims and tyre price for 16 and 17 is very close, just add about 200 and you get 17 inch.. But performance wise, 16 is just nice, 17 is good in cornering but the car is a lot heavier.. I'm currently using 16 light weight, '11 facelift version, regretted because rim not big enough XD will upgrade to 17 in future..
You can choose not to lowered your car, but your car will be a lot higher after changing to either 16 or 17, most people get adjustable, when driving for vacations you can higher up your rear suspension so your car will be balanced after adding weight..
*
Mind to share some photos of your 16inch rims? just want to have an idea how 16 looks like... biggrin.gif

Hmmm... Look Small maybe because of ur camera angle problem???

Now i'm in Dilemma...

15= i get comfort but not so sporting look but within budget to get Better Tyre

17= Sporty look, power lost, not so comfortable, Tyre expensive so can't get better Tyre...

Car confirm coming out next week... Need to make up my mind soon.... HELP
*
i see honda city full spec one using 185/55 R16 , looks not so big not so small, seems ok, but tyre choices very limited.

if compare pros and cons, 15 inch just sacrifice sporting look, but overall pros are comfort, less expensive tyres, more saving in the long run.
and 17 seems more cons, the only good thing is sporty look, but need to trade off alot, not so comfortable, expensive tyres, power lost and etc...

maybe go for 15 but pick 195/55 R15 or 195/60 R15 (not sure can fit or not) so that the tyres looks bigger not so thin, and pick nice sporty rims, overall it will still looks sporty.

yes 15 is just nice for everything! 195/55/R15 Goodyear NCT 5 or continental CC5 (I heard from colleague saying that continental wasn't that good, he swap to NCT 5 after that) or Michelin PS3 for best performance but a lil pricy
stock rim besi eh? icon_idea.gif I trade in when I change my rim, freak low price
*
any nice 15 inch rims to recommend?

just went to test drive with TRD version today..at first, the gearbox is smoother than previous gen which mean more easy to shift gear which is a good point. But, what i don't like is the engine was very noisy when shift to i think between gear 2 or 3 like that, after that shift to gear 4, the engine become quiet. Overall, quite satisfy with the test drive. But,i also dunno what is the reason but i feels that the car ain't that much price after test drive especially given their spec. What i think is maybe Toyota is selling their "brand" rather than selling their "car", so they rather not improving anything even in a competitive environment nowadays.

One more thing that i mentioned the quartz brown color, it's available display in the showroom with J spec current stock(no bodykit) when i visit for a test drive, erm,IMO it only looks like nice when it's bodykited and change the rim more bigger and more stylish. Otherwise, i feels like it missing "something" when apply that color on vios without body kit. But still, i already booked for that colors and will install body kit aftermarket.
*
congratz on booking new car rclxms.gif

btw, why didn't choose TRD version quartz brown color? the ori bodykit looks very nice biggrin.gif

racing art sdn bhd/federal eh?? Take 16 lah my friend if you have never mod any performance on your car, you xan immediately feel the weight when you upgrade to 16, honestly thank god to K&N air filter and custom exhaust by super circuit, I still have that power, much better than stock Vios
if you report but he didn't, he will get saman.. I don't know any mud guard around sorry.. Claim insurance lah
*
if ori stock vios no mod, not recommended to take 16"? will be heavy?
stay 15" is the best?

your spec? Mine is J spec, comes with steel rims, when I first change to 16", the respond time and pick up is very bad, when you want to overtake a car which is about the same speed as you, you will feel it is harder for the rpm to reach up compared to stock ones
*
Mine one is G spec..stock with 15"..

I'm facing the same problem as yours...

This friday will be my 1k service. I will ask the them is it normal or only is mine.

the sound is like water dropping on hollow metal root.

BTW, can i know what is ur spec???

Because mine is J spec so maybe they did not add on some sound proof at the root
*
because of the catamaran roof? according to Toyota, new Vios's catamaran roof is made from lightweight material for a lower center of gravity

Im agree.  Rear of new vios quite ugly... 2nd gen  vios more aerodynamic...  new vios reintroduce radio antenna..  =.= more aerodynamic drag
*
not sure why they removed the printed antenna but use back the radio antenna instead...increase the chance for the antenna getting stolen...
