At first i decided to install Focal PS 165 with no amp.
Now I want to add amp.
Found Focal amp FP2.75 within my budget range...
So does Focal component speakers work well with Focal amp?

Get the FP2.150 as for another RM450 you get additional power that you need for the speaker as then can properly drive the speaker as nominal already 80watt above the FP2.75 RMS. Can always pay for the postage and just bring the amp to your installer when you wanna install your speaker....
Glad Audio Creation can give you such a chun price.... Not to be miss out..... maybe as its already an archive model.....

Might wanna think about something other than Focal PS165. Victor has some good choices. You can trust his opinion as long as it fits your budget.
As for good installers in PG, there's a thread on it somewhere here.

krayden,

thks for your adv.
gd installers thread in pg is kinda dead......i've googled and gone over many sites but still cant find any info on a gd ice shop in pg.
the reason i settled for focal ps165 is cos it had won prizes.
every shop that i been to in pg offer many different brands...
for branded i can only find dls, hertz & focal.
so far this shop tat sell focal, at least gv me a competitive price ( abt $200 higher than the online ). the other shops that sell dls & hertz quoted me ridiculous prices at least $300-$400 higher than the price i found in the forum. and some more very lan cee.....

honestly if i hv the time, i may decide to drive down to kl to install.

Pm Bafukie. He's the resident PG sifu. Not sure if he's still staying in PG but he can definitely tell you where to go.

How much is the Focal PS BTW?

What he is asking is ; have you listen (audit) to the Focal PS 165; if possible with material (songs/music) you are familiar with.
As for price, thinks its all depend on the installer as maybe they wont charge you installation and such adding it up onto the speaker price. Some would have bundle package to attract customer. Now its raya time, so there are offers around ie KF Audio....... (not promoting, just supporting)
Maybe can plan a holiday trip down to Audio Creation and have ICE done up while you holidaying in KL. Maybe even get poison more by getting other beside Focal as Krayden mentioned. There is always the Mcintosh......

Not to pour cold water, best to demo as install already if not to your taste... then really a waste.... Speaker do sound different and unless you have reference (like us in Home Audio) then better take your time to listen to some first before putting down a few k on a system that you dont even have any idea how it will sound.
There is also lot of other brand that win awards.. hahaha.... If you plan to put in a system, better listen to it first. Think I am repeating what others saying.... even my installer will say same thing (correct? Howiechoo) do listen to it before deciding....
To me, ex-stock is ok as you get good things at a cheaper price..... Sometime buying current product at RRP is really painful on the wallet. Therefore promotion to clear good stuff at good price is something not to be miss if indeed if you can find it.... How come my installer dont do any Hari Raya thingy one?.....

Err, Pegasus also won a lot of awards. Read into it how ever you like.

I highly highly recommend you listen b4 buying. Even if its on the wall, at least you'll have a good idea. The very very good shops will install- listen- dun like- change and change until satisfied. Changing speakers is very fast, its the wiring that takes forever (unless you using stock cables).

I never heard PS165 b4. Focal Access was ok but a bit weak compared to Morel or Domination of same price range. K2P was super sharp (possibly due to sub-std cable) but generally Focal speakers are known to be on the ear piercing side. Takes some cash and patience to tame.

Go listen 1st, you might love it or you might hate it.
I have a few preferred brands/products. But thats only good for me. YOU will have to choose yourself.

You can start with:
Focal, Morel, DLS, Domination, German Maestro, Dynaudio, Vifa (XT25 tweeters are very good value)

TT is the best, but PG TT kinda dead from what I heard. My friend Mr. Bafukie also got extensive product knowledge. Failing that, I have some more PG friends who might be able to help.

KL trip would be good too. Howie and KFaudio would be good places to start. Then if you backside itchy, go look for Victor. He has really excellent top range stuff at a relatively good price. Drop your gf/wife at midvalley and prepare to get poisoned.

I got a friend with a Focal K2 on the front stage powered by Genesis. Sound ok as seem matched. His rear fill are the polyglass powered by the another Genesis. But as mentioned, Focal need proper matching and good tuning. KF Audio did quite a good job on his ride and the low was supported by 12 inch Bravox. Never heard a full focal setup before, mostly mixed up setup.... Hahaha.. With Genesis, Xetec or Pegasus??????? Hahaha......
Heard Eton before, different signature. More to my liking as I am kinda a German type, not a frenchie. I used to be US with Phoenix Gold old school, Soundstream old skool but as age catches up went timid instead..... No dough to go High End US Mcintosh. Now got different aim, going Brax German if I Kenna lottery.
As mentioned, do try to get the shop to let you hear the speaker. Let your ears decide instead of your eyes. Review and awards just a guide, but this ultimately makes music and you don't use your eyes to hear....
Still the initial suggestion, do try to come over to KL if possible as those installer would be better when installing the stuff that they sell. If really no choice, maybe they can recommend fellow installer they know in Penang that will do a decent job or contract out the installation to these fellow installer of their choosing. In case anything goes wrong, there is still recourse and ratification. You won't be left with spoilt equipment due to improper work of the installer.
