thks for the reply.... got another question.... do i nid to monitor the fund and take action fr time to time or juz wait for the report/statement and the agent will do all for me? in other word, any decision making require?
*
just a note: yr investment is your $, monitor it from time to time ( 1 yr ~ 2 yrs depends) to see how is the performance. Is the return as you expected?
if the mkt where to crash....review the situation....see if you can stomach to drop....if you cannot stomach that drop...then you had bought the wrong one.

I'm planning to invest using my epf. Is this Public Islamic Select Treasures Fund 6.98% 1.41% 2.81% 4.77% 7.42% 7.44% fund good? What is the important thing to take note to compare which fund should invest? And how to know which is equity fund? Thank you.
*
on "What is the important thing to take note to compare which fund should invest?" hmm.gif
i think it is your own "RISK level" how much can you afford to lose?
Dun just think how much you can make per year from the return..but also how much can you afford to lose and NOT having to depends on that $$ for a few years. normally higher the return will have higher the risk of losing that too.....normally funds would do well in the longer terms...but also there are some exceptions. surf the net to hwangIM or FSM or ask yr PM UT for a simple test to see where your risk level is?

on "And how to know which is equity fund?" hmm.gif
i think, any fund from PM that does not have the word "BOND", "FIXED Income", "SUKUK" or "Money Market Fund "are equities or have some portion in equities.
i may be wrong,...check it out

I guess 3 years will be too short term for UT investment. Possible to gain more than 4.25%pa for UT in 3 years but risky.
*
rclxms.gif yes, dun forget to include the sales charges of 5%, so assuming 4.25pa X 3 + 5% SC = 17.5% ROI in 3 yrs...about 5.8%pa only IF there is no downside...
look for other fund that has cheaper SC...maybe can consider,....by like Kaka23 said..."RISKY"

hmm.gif i think PB only sell PB series Funds and PM only sell P series fund...go ask them to confirm.

Hi guys, new to Public Mutual. Can open account through Public Bank internet banking? I won't be in Malaysia as I am based overseas. What are some solid low risk bond funds with them? Looking for solid a 5-6% or above.
*
i think Public Enhanced Bond fund has a good track record for this 5~6% ROI pa. previously the minimum sum is RM100k per purchase...now, i think PM just change to the to RM1000...surf Public mutual for details about opening a/c.

That 'ultimate' portfolio, in previous post, and their percentage gains is a good comparison to whatever current portfolio we're having... not necessary an ideal model suitable for everyone... as said, fine-tune it and 're-balance' it from time to time.
*
returns seems good for just 1 year, but have you back tracked it?
let say, same holdings,,,,,what is the returns for each year for year 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007?
I think having the results of last 5 years would be convincing.

The history,
launch Public China Select Fund (PCSF) on the 5th of June 2007.
By 13th of August 2007 (2 months after launching), PCSF fund size grew to a whopping RM1billion in size!
However the direness of the situation were already showing between 14th January 2008 to 23rd January 2008 when the Shanghai Stock Exchange lost almost 1000 points. Gains that investors enjoyed since the launching of PCSF were wiped out by March 2008.
The oldest China equity fund, PCSF, despite gaining handsomely between launching date to Oct 2007 is the biggest loser among four funds..-31% since launch!

wow, xuzen, you tracked the price movement for just a few months only and you managed to get the decision right.

i am currently holding PDSF at 10% of my portfolio allocation....intend to do top up using EPF every 3 month, which would continue to increase my current 10% allocation. can you pls advise what your take on this PDSF? thks

Can he/she also do it in the Public Bank branches?

Thank.
*

hello peeps,

I just came across this info, and i found out that this idea actually work and logical.

To sell off when a fund is going to declare distribution and reap the capital gain. and then buy back. After all, we will still get the distributed unit .

is this what the Unit trust Pro doing?
*
i found out that this idea actually work and logical...they just explain to you or have you tested it?
mind to share some data?
sell off then buy back? what about the Sales Charges?

Both also giving me around 5.5% pa. But recent drop quite worring me, that's y im thinking whether wan to dispose it or not. My agent told me to dispose half and park into asian dividend fund. That's y i quite dilemma now.
*
listen to what aoisky said: "Don't follow what your agent said blindly do your own study first. whichever fund you purchase your agent will get commission but w/o guarantee you getting profit".

Recent drop worrying you?..I suppose it was May til June. how much % did it dropped?
my advise to you is that have a frank discussion with YOUR SELF....find out the true grading of risk you can take.
there are many investment websites that have some sort of risk profile analysis that you can try to evaluate yourself.
there is no shame to admit that one does not have a high risk grading....because many criteria affects it.
just a note: in UT investing, there will be times when your holding MAY drop 20-~30% (and maybe more) in a few months and stayed there for another 18 months (or continued to drop)....
just be prepared..or maybe UT investing just does not suit u.

For me, i myself got motivated after experiencing gaining around RM750+++ from my investment of RM2481.. (investment period from 2009-2012)
*
just a note: Don't miss this "Investment Disclaimer"
Investors are advised that unit prices and distributions payable, if any, may go down as well as up.
There are fees and charges involved and investors are advised to consider the fees and charges before
investing in the Fund. Past performance of the Fund is not an indication of future performance.

what motivate me to invest not only in PM....., well,....trying to grow my little monies without loosing to inflation...at the same time can sleep peacefully at night.

Hi all sifus,
I hv just made a switch from all my equity funds to money market fund for the cash investment.  Also did the switches for all equity funds in EPF to islamic money market. All this done just before Flitch announced the downgrade. ...

I would like to hv bigger exposure in regional markets / Australia / China due to no confidence in Malaysia currency. ...

May I know which funds n when should I switch back to equity for:
A) cash portion
B) EPF portion

Thx for sharing.

just a good read for you to decide
As Sir John Templeton aptly says, "History shows that time, not timing, is the key to investment success. Therefore, the best time to buy stocks is when you have money." So long as it's well managed unit trusts invested in markets that have strong fundamentals (see our Overall Market Summary and Earnings Growth Forecast), whether in China equities or Emerging Market bonds or other asset classes in other geographical markets, our message is to stay invested and to keep on investing. That said, investors can mitigate investment risk by practising diversification, and also by investing bit by bit regularly via a regular savings plan.
