Happened again last night ...

[attachmentid=3076983]
[attachmentid=3076985]

Seem like daily event, same time around 3:15am, force renew!  sad.gif

Does any P1 ForBiz users encounter the same?  unsure.gif
*
I checked and confirmed.
It is a 24hours lease.

If yours is at 3.15am, it will renew at the same time everyday.
If you manual reset at 5pm, then it will be 5pm everyday
etc etc

The problem with P1 is the slow response from them, already forth day and i hv yet to rcv any call from their installation team after i submit my registration form to them last tue. Message them on their FB they said will forward to respective dept...  sad.gif
*
Give them some time.
most of the delay is waiting for appointment date from TM's technician.

so far I am satisfied with their response time.

May i know what happen if IP is renewed frequently?
*
known dhcp lease time
maxis fiber 48 hours
P1 Fibre 24 hours
Streamyx/Unifi forever

sidenote: depending on usage:
some users actually prefer the daily/frequent renew of ips.
some streamyx/unifi users will actually manually reset their routers to get fresh ips.

PRO
some believe certain ip are faster than the others.
more difficult to track your ip for 114a and prawn downloaders.
can register new account if banned in LYN by simply clearing cookies
etc

CON
renewing ips are actually short disconnections.
short disconnections is a problem when situations does not favour them eg cctv, direct downloads, banking etc
etc

Decision decision..my unifi installation is 2moro and i yet to rcv P1 call (submitted my form last tue). P1 ForBiz 20MB is really good price for me...

btw, am using wireless IP security cam, hopefully the P1 frequent ip renew thing wouldnt disrupt my cctv recording...few min is fine..
*
it will be too late to cancel your unifi installation tomorrow.

P1 and Maxis has to wait for TM technician to go together for installation.
It may be longer than usual.

renewing of ips take seconds rather than minutes.

just to lets u guys know, P1 did refresh the IP
the expiry time is around 1day+ .... not even 2days
my expiry time around 4:30pm... not night time
*
Update:
Set the 24hours renewal ip to the time you desired.
At the time you want, do a hard reset,
soft reset connect/disconnect via dlink interface doesn't work so far.

How I found out? Coincidently,
Electricity outage at 10pm one night and the ip is renewed 10pm every night ever since.

Off both dlink and tm modem.
On tm modem
On dlink.
Done.

Note:
Still monitoring the time and duration of the exact time ip is renewed.
Please let everybody know if this P1 24 hours lease poses any problem to everyday task.

is the RT-N16 can be use in P1 fiber ?

P1 is using the same backbone as unifi,
thus using tm modem/btu

follow klseet blog on how to do it.

P1 needs to get their international capacity increase to accommodate their new fibre subscribers. Though they got their CPE and strong marketing right this time, they're lacking in their gateway capacity. I mean very lacking until WIMAX customers are often complaining of extreme slowdowns during peak hours.
*
Fiber and Wimax totally different thing.

How about you guys?

seems like P1 set their dhcp lease to a longer time.
the question now is how long.

do monitor and let us.
mine stays fixed for 48hours now.
Still monitoring how long can it go.

Green Packet refuted reports as "speculative in nature" and declined to comment.

TM described the news report as "misleading as it is based on speculation"

P1 financial stats have been bleeding for years now.
Don't expect them to be the most generous when providing sufficient international bandwidth. They'll have to resell their lines as much as possible to remain alive.
*
P1 has bad reputation.
Mainly due to their "potong campaign" some time ago and their 3G/4G/Wimax.

I have never tried their services until now.
From my experience so far, *touch wood*
P1 fibre gives me the best experience amongst all the isps.

My connection 24/7 - 1 month 16days now.

I am happy.

hai there. i just register for this, first time installing fiber. i have a few questions that troubles me. i m residing in terrace house
1. i m previously on tm net stremyx . is it possible to keep my tm phone number, how do i do it (getting the old phone number to be used for p1)
YES, but have to pay monthly rental of RM26

2. how long does it take terminate tm phone and streamyx
This you ask TM when you go submit termination form at TM Point.

3. how long to install fiber for first timer? is it 4 to 8 hours as stated in website?
Depends

4. i am wondering if i get p1 to install before i terminate streamyx. would it be possible to get new p1 phone numver revert to my old phone number when successfully terminate streamyx?
NO, P1 is P1. TM is TM. Voip vs Landline

that is my question for now. very excited to get this high speedĀ  rclxms.gif simce i managed to register on sunday
Congrats.
Acceptance when knowing installation is in terrace house or the address is in your SSM registration?

i am happy to announce that my p1 forbiz 20mbps package hasn't changed its ip address since Oct. 17, 2012 1:25 AM

that's 12 days already
*
That's just great.
Let's see how long can it go...

QUOTE(newtester @ Nov 5 2012, 12:46 AM)
We found out after testing, theres a problem with one of program online running, since we have unifi too, we tested both unifi and p1 fiber, only p1 fiber got the problem. Management decided its not worthwhile, so even thought p1 fiber is cheaper on same package speed, but the problem lies on p1 ip range. So decided to cancel it.
But nobody knows know to do cancellation on p1 since its not mention on p1 website and what is the penalty since the installation was done this week, tuesday.

So how do we go about the cancellation process, I remember there's trial period for p1 wimax but I dont know p1 fiber got this trial or not. Thanks.

As for the application, its company confidential.
*
Rather skeptical about your claim.

I haven't encounter an online program that is dependent on ip address, not yet.
moreover, P1 and unifi shares the same backbone.

Your management decides it is not worthwhile compared with unifi?
charity organization issit?
P1 RM99 vs Biz5 RM199

simple solution to your problem, just give P1 a call.

for business doesn't only look at the price, there are other factors like reliability, backward compatible.... etc

maybe I sounded harsh but I am skeptical about his claim.

This is internet access we are talking about,
Nothing involves backward compatibility or reliability.
Either there is internet or there is none.

I assure you,
I am one of the most demanding, fussy,
pain-in-the-ass customer where internet access is concerned.

I do not tolerate disconnections, not even frequent ip renewals
throttle of p2p, bandwidth shaping, website blocking,
high pings, quotas or lousy wifi routers.

If there is anything wrong with P1 fiber,
I would know.

We are running a SIP server using port 5060. Apparently P1 fiber router Voip is also using the same port.
We are not able to do port forwarding on the port to access our SIP Server from external.

Anyone encountering the same problem and got idea on how to resolve this. Forget P1  cs.

If we can't resolve this. we might need to cancel P1 fiber.
*
Default 5060 port for sip is often configurable and it can be of any higher ports, UDP.
Why would you use the same port as P1?
Alternately, just release P1's sip port from the voip config.

If you have static IP addresses, you can use one-to-one NAT.
Change the default sip port 5060 on each phone to a different number diff RTP ports.

Now I know why P1 has the weird term:
P1 voice line must be active with bare minimum of one (1) call per month/bill cycle - to any number, on any call duration.
Naturally P1 does not want anyone to mess with or configure their own sip server.

Now this makes me wonder whether
Unifi and Maxis uses 5060 for their sip server.

My suggestion, cancel P1

they will try to cheat you money on the fiber length thing.  mad.gif here goes my story.

Congrats on your new installation.
so they install even when address is diff from your ssm,
heard some people apply but got rejected.
let us know your speed when it stabilize in 1-2 days.

TM contractor is notorious in charging unnecessarily,
and people do pay. Horror stories are abound.

They should be grateful they got a job.
