I wanted to ask which keyboard is better?

Steelseries 6Gv2 or the filco majestouch black switch? both quite good and steelseries is like Rm50 cheaper than the filco.. need recommendation, both almost same..

main use for gaming~

Most ppl here may probably suggesting Filco, as it is one of the top standard in Mechanical KB.

For SS6G/7G, it is also having quite reputable built quality(truck test).

But all in all, Filco so have some slight "advantage" over SS6G, namely:
1. Standard layout(SS6G is having a different than common layout for "?" and right shift).
2. Filco using Costar style stabiliser(more "natural" or softer in the feel) while SS is Cherry style(some ppl don't like its feel).
3. More popular spacebar stems spacing(easier to find replacement)
*
I've personally tested myself of both filco and SS...
Filco more better responsive less pressure needed.. like you say more natural
while SS a bit more mushy, like there is a clay underneath it but feel like a more solid feel to it..

But I think will choose the filco namely many recommentation.. this is my first mechanical keyboard.. hope I like it than the normal lycosa~

thx for the recommendation and the explanation.. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Whats wrong with Keycool? It serve all other KBs can serve at a price below RM200.

The only flaw is the different spacebar standard(which also shared by Leopold what...). Somemore there is lots of mech kbs out there which using weird length of spacebar, and they will face even harder time/forever to find a replacement for it...

LOL lycosa, not only being "booo" by us here but also by most owners. I guess it serve nothing but bling bling.

BTW bro, had you made up your mind that MX Black is your way to go? Not thinking of other types of switch?
*
yup lycosa is a piece of ****, lol bad investment.. TT

I think MX black is my cup of milk.. i've tried the blue (Razer), clicky sound is cool but, the feel is like -->----->, initial click then auto lock in.. i did use double click, i scare that might effect my daily usage..

the brown switch, just like the black switch, but it lacks the feel of the key response.. never tried red..

i normally use for gaming and typing articles, which switch suit me? smile.gif

since you've tried the switches and came to like mx black then it's the perfect switch for you.

some other might prefer other switches because those are their preferences. just stick with your feel.
*
i dun get the chance to test red and brown... i tested brown with plastic on.. >< red and brown swtich are rare.. and where can I test them?

I think Ficlo and ducky are the best out there.. research about rosewell, some of them said they are not so good in terms of quality.. ><

Just another question as a newbie to mechanical keyboard.

Is mechanical keyboard useful in gaming?

Does it help? Or doesn't help but doesn't affect?

Any blue switch user here find it good in gaming?
*
my reason to get a ducky shine 2 / filco mejestouch 2 is that my razer lycosa is a total shitty kb.. mistype, very very uncomfortable to use...

I've tested the blue swtich and i find it good for typing since the blue switch is light to pressed on..

Black is very smooth as your hand are in control of the keys and very comfortable to type; the feeling is like force to press, but the bounce back will lift your finger back up hence consistence movement..

Red is similar to black but less force required... however i dun like the red because i felt the keys are not solid, doesn't have the touchy solid feel when i press..

still come to personal preference thou....

as in gaming, since you are comfortable, you shld be able to click well i guess? in my lycosa, i keep misplace my finger from E and R / when i hit enter, the keyboard doesn't recognise and when type some words with R = ult AIR

Still debating whether to get Rosewill Rk9100 or RK9000.

All sifu got any opinion on this two?

The rm100 extra for rk9100 O.O
*
for the extra Rm100, you can ducky already i think.. ducky shine 2 is not bad, many ppl recommend.. the backlit can customize somemore.. whether you want on/off/selected keys on... etc

Added on September 24, 2012, 12:39 am

I guess they are ABS,
backlit keycaps are available mostly in ABS.

only Deck Legend are using backlit PBT.

if want blue, brown, black switches, I'll go for Filco MJ2. since locally we can't get the Red switch filco yet.

Ducky got all the switches.
*
i wanted brown switch.. I tested filco myself, i really love the feeling.. but the ducky shine 2 customization of led backlit really caught my eye..

then i do more research that the filco have better stabilizer than the ducky shine 2 which I totally have no idea what are they talking about

thing is my budget is suit both of the kb..

I'm more to a gamer myself and redditors/forumers..

Well, I only trust their non-electronic merchandise  doh.gif  mousepad

had quite some nightmare with their boards and mouse.
*
their mouse is alright, been using salmosa and abysus... not bad, however i'll be switching to steelseries kana soon..

their extended version of goliathus is good for the whole keyboard + mouse... can act as a mat for both and a arm rest.. smile.gif

never get keyboard from razer!

haha... me too, i only get their non-electonic mousemats XD
Never convinced by their electronic stuff after the death adder era  laugh.gif  laugh.gif
yea, goliathus extended is great as a overall surface instead of just plain mousemat.
FYI, currently im using the goliathus extended as a surface to cover my glass table and as well as the cloth to put my keyboard and as the mousepad, kind of nice~~~ thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif
*
combination with ducky shine 2 + goliathus extended + gaming mouse = awesome gaming setup!
