Hi Astro PVR sifus, i have faced a PVR problem, there are few recorded programme can not be watched and not able to removed/deleted. Any clue/tips to resolve this problem. Many thanks ahead.

It said to be new software version 7 bug. The only solution now is to reformat the HDD while waiting for the new software version to permanently fix this.

Hi guys. Need some clarification. Currently I facing this "Copy Protection Failed" which appears on every HD channels.

So I called Astro and they first ask me remove the HDMI cable and use the normal cable (Yellow, Red, White). And yes the issue was settled and there's no "Copy Protection Failed" on all the HD channels.
And then they told me that the PVR cannot use HDMI or else it'll show this "Copy Protection Failed" on all the HD channels.

And so....this came to my mind that WHAT IS THE POINT OF HD WITHOUT HDMI?!
*
I think the other way round - don't disconnect the HDMI, but disconnect the RCA (yellow, red, white) cable. Some TV brand have some issue if you both HDMI and RCA to the same Byond and same TV.

Your Byond decoder has internal or external hard disk?

Guys,

Ive upgraded to PVR recently. Im stayin in a condo and we are using a centralised dish. All channels seems fine but whenever im on a HD channel and switch back to another SD channel i dont seem to get transmission. I need to wait for some time or even reboot to get those SD channels.Any idea?
*
Your centralized dish was single LNB. You should use at least Dual LNB for your dish since PVR is having 2 tuner.

Hi everyone.
Currently Im having a problem with my Astro PVR Decoder.
Each time when I change to a channel,it takes few seconds(more than 5 seconds sometimes).
My decoder still have 80 hours of empty space.
Another problem is when i watch some of the recorded program. Sometimes it will stuck and wont play smoothly.
Hence i have to forward it till the program run as normal. And there are few times its just stuck like that where I couldn't forward it at all.
Anyone encounter similar problem like this..?
*
HDD problem for sure.....

They will not take the beyond decoder or dish back but you do have to return the smartcard to their office or you will be charged RMxx (can't remember if it was RM50 or RM80 already) a few months later (some only get the bill asking them to pay a year later for not returning the smartcard).
*
Wrong. They will take back the beyond decoder and the dish since they are only loan it to you. Unlike the old decoder before beyond.

Why after my RG6 cable is replaced , my byond pVR sIgnal strength is so still low?both tuners stay around 156-166!But today when my uncle rellocate his astro,i see the signal its 217 on Byond only decoder!
If the signal is not good gonna cancel astro la.Pay a crap load still get no signal.
*
Don't compare signal strength between pvr and normal beyond. They use different scale. I think your signal level is good enough.

Forced update but still on version 7............I heard version 8 is still unstable so maybe has it been halted?  cos my decorder does not update though forced update goes to auto update mode but after 100% dwnload its still version 7
*
I think they download by selected customers and not full blown. So that any complain due to new version is manageable. Their QC team may no longer have high level of confidence haha

No. You are wrong. I had cancelled two subscriptions for two different Beyond decoders and i get to keep the dish and also decoders. The only thing i had to return was the smartcard and they gave me a "release letter" upon surrendering of the smartcard.
Don't worry. He is totally wrong.

I strongly believe that you never read T&C when signed-up astro beyond last time.

" If at any point in time the Customer’s subscription to the Astro Service is terminated either by the Customer or Astro for any reason whatsoever, the Customer shall contact Astro within 30 days from the termination date of the Astro Service to arrange for the collection of the Astro B.yond Box/PVR and its Accessories by Astro at no cost to the Customer. If the Customer does not contact Astro for the collection of the Astro B.yond Box/PVR and its Accessories within the aforesaid time period, all charges incurred by Astro to enforce the retrieval of the Astro B.yond Box/PVR and its Accessories shall be borne by the Customer and charged to the Customer’s Astro account. "

The above was exracted from http://www.astro.com.my/portal/subscriber-...s-conditions-2/

B.yond decoder is always property of Astro. That is why you have to pay very minimal charge when you signed-up for b.yond or even you just need to pay for the installation charges only since it is always their property. They did not take it back immediately once you terminate is because they are hoping that you may re-connect back or renew your subscription later on so they just need to deliver to you the smartcard and you pay for re-connection fees. At any point of time, they will retrieve it from you and if the decoders is no longer with you, they have rights to take legal action against you......

I did. That is why i also know that under the new contract, it is Astro responsible to make sure very minimal interruption to our Astro service and they will replace a new Beyond decoder at the soonest time possible should something goes wrong with your current one. It wasn't like this with the old decoder which was not smartcard specific locked. But i suppose you never actually cancelled any of your Astro Beyond subscription before ? Because guess what ? They really do not want your Beyond decoder or the dish back. They only want the smartcard and that's it.

As a matter of fact, when i canceled my two Astro subscriptions, i was actually told i did not have to return anything. Not even the smartcard. Their CS agent told me i can keep everything and should i feel like to watch Astro again, all i need to do is to call their hotline and they will reconnect the service.

But then, i had done my homework. Checked with the people here and found out at least two people were billed RMxx about a year because they did not return the smartcard. So yeah, you only have to return the smartcard but not the dish or the decoder as spikey2506 said.
*
So it is not our problem.... their problem - astro and its variety of their customer service who do not have the same stand and consistency. They made the law but they did not enforce it! But just to remind everyone because of their problem and inconsistency, sooner or later it will become our problem. So to everyone who cancel the subscriptions, do not assume they will give it free to you.... nothing is free in this world!

Review buffer depth is when you start watching a channel it will record for live tv pause and rewind.
Eg:You watch Astro supersport. Then it will start recording how long depending the time you have chosen. You can then rewind back. To check what u have buffered u can press ok on your remote and look at the red bar.

Record extension
Sometimes the tv guide is not accurate so the record will complete before the show ends. That is when you use it.I recommend you using 2 mins though im not using

Sounds like technical guy working for astro hehe

Any one here use single cable system (SCR) for their PVR? ie One cable direct from SCR LNB to PVR. Then Split to two at PVR. HOw's the performance? Any issues?

The one the installer showed can support up to 4 receivers in the single cable. Cost either rm150 or rm300 I can't remember.
We decided to go with the traditional way. 2 cables from LNB to PVR.
*
I'm one of them. They provide me a pair of Stacker Destacker. Performance not bad because they add line amp in between.

It's not stacker/destacker. It's a special lnb a single cable from this lnb support upto 4 receivers. No other equipment needed in between except spliter to different receivers, like how you do for tv antenna cable.

Can anyone confirm with me if this crazy idea will work?
4 Ku band (astro dish)with dual lnb
first one connect to stacker den output connect to another stacker
another two wires from lnb connect to the second input of stacker
this steps repeats with third and fourth dish and the second stacker
both the stacker outputs to another stacker.then run another cable into house and use a destacker connect to PVR
will this increase the signal strength and make the rain interruption go away.
*
You draw la bro then easy to understand you idea. But whatever it is as long as it is ku band, it is prone to rain fade

Hi all,

Just a quick question:

Since Astro TV Guide mobile apps stopped development, how can we do "Remote Recording" now?
Astro TV Guide website also not working for me, clicked record and confirm, then the indicator just spinning forever.
Also tried Safari browser on iPad, it even reported "There was an error....".

Thanks in advance!
*
I heard astro will introduce new apps to replace the existing one
