if you have a DVR media player, you can record astro to it and then play on any PC.

but the recording is not on HD mode.

I guess I can't really take it anymore with the current signal strength in my condo unit. It's extremely bad reception even its a bright sunny day .. Always got disconnected with error message.

Out of 100% signal strength bar - mine is about 20% only .. Now I can't cancel the subscription but bare with it ? sad.gif

have you called and talked to those CS folks?

what did they say, if nothing is done, keep on complaining and write an official complaint letter to their management.

Astro Pvr decoder has 1 hdmi out and 1 composite out. Use the composite out to the HDD DVD player and record the program in HDD DVD player. However the recording and burning will will not be in HD format
*
yup, thats how we do it at home as well, the RCA cable is plugged into our DVR (AC RYAN) and record it from there. The file is portable to any player.

I understand some AC Ryan player has a HDMI port, have you ever tried to connect it to the Astro decoder using a HDMI cable ?
*
do you mean HDMI output to Astro IN?

hmmm, nope, the reason being for such a connection?

I was wondering if you can record a HD program with HD quality on Astro if you connect your AC Ryan to your Astro decoder using a HDMI cable instead of RCA.
*
Nope, because ACRYAN doesnt have HDMI input; it only has HDMI output.

moreover if its HDMI input, I'm pretty sure they would have placed some copy restriction similar to CINAVIA, since its digital.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but looking through the specs, it only records HD through the DVB-T tuners (i.e. HD Terrestrial like RTM HD trials). For video in recording, it only can record RCA (yellow-red-white) inĀ  sweat.gif

Correct, thats what I said. There is no HD recordings (480p) but i could live with its upscaling to TV;overall its not too bad.

Have been converting my pre-recorded from videocam as well.

It's a shame that we can't record it in HD but this will do for now. It's better than losing all your recorded Astro programs. Astro replaced my Astro decoder about 2 months ago and all the recorded programs cannot be watched with the new decoder due to all the programs being locked to my old decoder  cry.gif

By the way, would it be possible to record a recorded program ? Because I have quite a few recorded Astro programs that I'd like to transfer to my computer. Or the AC Ryan will record whatever program that is playing on the TV ? And may I know how much this AC Ryan with recording function cost and where you can buy it ?
*
I need to check with my hubby on the cost, and where, he is the one who bought it. There are couple of seller sin LYN as well, you could check with them.

recording a pre-recorded, I dont see why not. as long as there is a AVIN to the DVR, you could record, source could be, DVD, camcoder, TV, etc.
