HIST SD is now in SD 16:9.... but not BIO & CITV SD. Other channels hopefully should progress with technology and junk 4:3 SD format. 

Eh, worth it or not ah? Thinking of buying just to record "Avengers". Will the recording stay after content expires?

Oic. Hmmm....Starhub usually just accepts incoming feed with no conversion...looks like Astro  may have down converted for those viewers with 4:3 TVs.

Mediacorp started transmitting in 16:9, like news programs are all now shot in 16:9. So for viewers with CRT TV, they will see elongated images.......

Actually, this is not a good news at all. Do you know why the History HD suddenly has subtitle while the others don't?
This is because the channel is not HD. Its just an upscale from the sd feed, since it is now broadcast in 16:9 view.
There are alot of pixelation. This also explain why the sd and the hd are broadcast simultanously. WTF Astro. Trying to cheat us again.

Just found out some limited info from my sources.....AETN channels are now being playout from Encompass Media Asia [in Singapore]. Measat has handed over the job to them.  Here is another confirmation.....seems like measat only does signal uplinking, no longer playback.

The next on n some promo spots are in HD though. Suspect the old programs are upconverted while they start building up true HD programs for newer programs. Similar to how FX Asia first started.

Have to see if tonight's program "special forces : Malaysia GGK" or newer programs are in true HD.

Actually, I was complaining about the History HD channel being replace with an up-scaled History SD channel. Not about the new History SD broadcast feed.
I'm sure the current History HD is not and HD since there is no HD logo beside the channel logo. But I have to admit, some of the programs are decent thought, the older programs are obviously up-scaled.

i have already submit the suggestion suggest that astro should create another channel to their HD line-up. usually when i received this kind of massage from them, they are reconsidering it.. last time i ask is about Animax, and this kind of email also came, and the next month, they already have Animax along 6 other channel to launched..

Actually, Singtel was poking fun at Starhub, where one needs to pay S$8.5o access HD channels. (Other than Mediacorp 5 which is free to view.

If u are interested, here are the pricing plans of Starhub. Still expensive compared to Astro though. Cheers.

Singtel just made the annoucement that they are carrying the full package of FIC channels (on Starhub) in addition to new ones like [V]HD, Baby TV HD, STAR Life OK, FOX Action Movies etc (all not on Starhub).

Suspect astro could be in panic mode as FIC will do the same when the exclusive contracts ends on astro.....so they may launch one by one....

Would I be right in guessing it'll be the same Sky news channel as broadcast in the UK?

Seems a bit strange they haven't advertised this at all. Not that I'm complaining.

Does anyone know if there will be an SD version of the channel broadcast too?
