Yes if you need

a) PvP (in a group) as most Guilds have pre-made groups for PvP that are regular. You can of cos do PvP on your own.

b) Phat Lewt as it helps to have different crafters to help you craft that green item. Of cos if you're loaded, you can just buy them off the trading post.

c) Pals as in regular people to play with (guildies tend to prioritise grouping up with each other). From what I see, usually there are handful of people who play alone and group up with whoever they meet

d) Assistance in completing quests (most guildies tend to help each other more often though in most US server MMOs I play in, everyone tends to be helpful). You do tend to meet people along the way who is doing the same quest so you can just

e) Sieges that are organised as most guildies tend to be more organise and on Mumble/Vent/TS.. well this is based on my previous experiences in Shadowbane, Planetside, Lineage 2, Warhammer Online, etc.

For me the main problem is deciding which class and race to play!!!

Sylvari - Quite like it.
Norn - Quite like it.
Asura - Not too bad but a bit weird
Human - Quite like it.
Charr - didnt manage to try during the BWE and Stress Test.

Engineer - Feels clunky. The Golem quest in the Asura was awful
Thief - Quite like this. Stealth I like and curious to see how this class acts like a scout during sieges
Guardian - not too bad but dislike running around trying to hit things
Elementalist - Always love playing this class but as usual, dies easy.. lol

Didn't manage to try these but...
Warrior - Running around hitting stuff again
Mesmer - Crowd Control... not sure if its my cuppa tea.
Ranger - my old GW1 class
Necro - who doesn't love minions?

oh.. busy ma lately.. just recently found time to play D3 a bit and got my wiz to level 35 or something.

Thief was a nice class to play indeed. Began shooting so much I forgot to switch to melee weapon to level up and get some skills

Its good that the "V" is flexible. From there you can have group differentiation om Mumble/TS/Vent as well as in game grouping based on "V".

here are some examples

Vanguard: This can be a group formed during sieges as the advance team
Valor: Team of Guardians
Venus: A deadly sexy group of "girls"
Victor: Calvary Squad
Valkyrie: Team of Elementalist
Versus: Elite PvP team

Provided there's a grouping option for this game... didn't see this option during the tests.
