I wonder if the client is already optimized but im having 45-52 fps in high populated on best appearance setting on mbpro retina which is pretty amazing on a laptop already...wonder if we'll see better performance on launch

Bloody hell... A couple of open map lag in Sylvari area I can tahan... but Personal Story instances lagged are worse xD. Guildies also complain about lagfest in PvP.

This is a true stress test trollolololoolool

Yeah right at the end of the stress test they mention some ppl might experience lag issues. I did as well, in both human and sylvari area.

my lousy Radeon HD5570 giving me 30+ fps on medium high setting, so i guess the game graphic is optimised...

Crafting...
1, you discover recipe with the discovery system, combine multiple materials. Once you put in a material, anything that fades out in your inventory means they can't combine.
2, the craft tutor now also sell recipe (didn't see closely probably higher level, their name are yellow)
3, renown heart NPCs sell recipes for karma
4, every time you almost hit a "stepping-stone-level" (25/50/75/100+++), some recipes will start to unlock by itself.

Played mesmer with greatword just now, love it biggrin.gif Will be my alt character then, but which race still on thinking.

Press Print Screen, you can hide UI by pressing ctrl+shift+H

Darkhaven was laggy and server was full. First two hours was lag free. Not sure which server i will join during headstart. Any guilds accepting members?

I would just use Fraps (the free version can also), set to capture every 5 seconds and start it. But prepare at least 5 to 10GB free space for those bitmaps... tongue.gif
I'll prefer to bind the hide-UI shortcut to something easier to press, for example I use F9.

After that use Microsoft Picture Manager, select all pics, export as JPEG (make sure to set the quality slider to max...), don't use resize option (Microsoft Picture Manager's resize function produce super bad quality).
Or use Adobe Bridge if you have.

Just trying to get a final confirmation from people who've tried this, but regardless of what world you choose (SoS, IoJ etc) you can still party and meet up with friends right?

Like, I'm in SoS, but my friend is in IoJ. I'm only asking now because SoS was already full within 30 minutes of the stress test today.

Yes you can. You can party. You can PVP. You can even join his guild. The only thing you can't do is.

You can't represent HIS world in World vs World

on a side note, yesterday I went into an overflow server for like 5 minutes, and some said in BWE they have been in overflow for like 3-4 hours

Never happened to me on all this 3 BWE and stress test.
Most to most just stay at overflow
10-15 minutes than I'm back to Sea of Sorrow.

i don't know, i just talk to them and they said like that. well, i was in for 5 minutes though, overflow was fun also, you can do practically everything, and if you're on an event and almost finish, you get two choice, re-enter queue for overflow OR enter your server

I have been getting constant 280 ping in GW2, if anyone is getting lower while using tunneling/proxy services, please do tell...

Emmm did you read my first reply properly, the game is not out yet and there isn't any beta/stress test even running at the moment. Hence the reason you got that message.

1. The games is not launched.
2. Pre-purchase enable us to have 3 day head start (25 August 2012)
and opportunity to join in Beta weekend (ended) and test stress and stress test (check out for announcement)

hence your account is currently inactive,unauthorized or game not available at the moment.

I tried Scepter + Spirit Weapons Guardian. It is very strong... only when you have the spirit weapon summoned.

Spirit weapons are better than the ranger's pet.

btw, heaven can we nominate you to be standing guild leader for LYN? Have others like Uncle Deimos stand in as guild representatives (officers). I can assist with this too since I managed the GW2G English guild in Gandara.

which class you think is the easiest class to master and the hardest?

elementalist with basically 20 skills to swap during combat and can select from 80 skills which 20 skills to use?

rangers with 9 different pets with their own skills? (9x5=45) in addition to their own skills?

engineers with toolbelts and kits?

necromancer with deathshroud and lich mode?

thief with thair mobility?

guardian? warriors?

they require quite a bit of commitment on ur traits to be good besides taking up ur utility slots...
overall i actually prefer ranger's pet especially with the instant pet swap while keeping all 3 of ur utility slot...

the best spirit weapon is definitely the hammer for the knock down

I want to start of with a profession which does not require too much of planning and scheming, hence i gathered Warrior is gonna be my first toon. Then only i will go into other profession when i am more in tune and accustomed with the game mechanics.

According to A.Net, Necromancer is the easiest to learn, hardest to master. Played it for a while, but am not qualified to say it if it's true or not.

I played elementalist for a bit, I don't like the 1 weapon <---> 4 attunements. Even though that means I have access to 20 weapon skills instead of the usual 10, the added skills actually makes it harder to figure out which attunement is my control, single target and AoE damager for that particular weapon set.

I played thief for a bit this morning on the stress test, and I liked how to Steal/Initiative mechanics is panning out. The only gripe is that I didn't got the chance to see what I was stealing (spam F1, yo!), and the initiative mechanics is not so responsive in a lagged environment.

Mesmers have the steepest learning curve of all the professions, I believe. Illusion/Phantasm and Shattering concept is something you got to get used to, and fast.

EDIT: to those who played ranger this morning, pet fixed?

well i sPvP a bit with guardian in beta weekend event 3 and i used the spirit sword.
quite powerful yeah. when i had it activated the kills just keep on raking in lulz.
well i was tagging along with others acting as support also haha.

I can be the Founder, since GW2 you can customize/designate titles/position in the game which I find handy, yeah probably give you guys maybe titles like PvE Lead / PvP Lead / Craft Master etc, I imagine letting the guild flow naturally as it is targeted for general Msian or SEA based players, generally providing guild perks without requiring commitments, also require less guild management from the officers(which is what gaming should be), tho in special cases like jerks etc will need some attention/spanking maybe.

Primary role for the officers should be to assist the initial invitation process + answer SOME queries as well as keep the guild benefits on queue at all times. Must take players willing to deal with this while playing for the first few days.

Of course, these players must also have the capability to decide when an instant-kick is warranted, especially in the case of bad boys. Remember guys, we're all representing Malaysia/LYN when we play, so make sure to be well mannered and polite to everyone you see. Drama? Walk away from it.

i think it was Gate of Madeness btw my id WhiteGoat

there's preorder over at garage sales, but they don't do the headstart/1 day headstart.

An alternative is directly buy a digital copy from the website. This will guarantee a 3 day headstart plus access to the now-finished beta events. But it's generally more expensive by RM20-ish, but that's the only safe and secure route (Since most of us here already bought it from the site itself!)

Another way is Amazon.

1 bank slot (30 spaces i think?). More blank slots can purchase with gem.
5 bag slots, 1 free bag (20 space). Can craft/loot/buy the other 4 bags. 2 extra bag slots can purchase with gem.
5 character slots. Can purchase extra with gem.

Initially those are pretty enough.

As far as I know 10s swiftness 20s c/d is the shortest for one skill that gain swiftness boon.
Since swiftness stack on duration... Elementalist staff+air attunement kinda OP in term of swiftness boon (pretty much INFINITY~~~) :3 Dual-dagger+air & fire attunement works pretty well too.

Think I off to sleeep... see you (or not) in another woo-hoo mental streesing test later... (damn, are they gonna make stress test every single day for the next 2 weeks? )

Well yes they will see the details such as your serial key, since it's display right after the purchase goes through. The serial key will also be email to them. So you'll need them to give you the serial key to you as well as the link to register it after they bought for you.

testing skill capping in world vs world.

i dun think arena net will nerf the skill points thing.

practically it is impossible to farm all those skill points location unless you have a very strong group.

Tried mesmer with greatsword. Found a staff just now (didn't realize she can use staff too), played around with it- not bad, staff is mostly mind-f**k based skill.

Not much screenshot today... I was STUCK in RataSum for most of the time UNTIL I figure out they all use AsuraGate to travel to other part of the map & nearby maps... doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif
Will upload tomorrow... 3G sucked (quota)... Gonna sleep now lol...

Stress test is over, that was a good stress test, to be honest.

Might as well just play a Warrior in the full release as i find warrior to be quite versatile.

Hmm.. So after the char wipe during HeadStart (25/8), more likely the SEA community direction will be the Sea of Sorrows world??

They have unleashed Diablo & Dota sub-forums, have to think properly when creating a new sub-forum. Eventually if things keep going on like this, we'll be seeing a long list of sub-forums. Now, who wants to do the cleaning ups on the ghost towns?

was avoiding D3 as reference since its mostly cos the game fvcked up real badly itself, not sure bout Dota2, imo Dota2 sub is still going well, but not rly active either.

personally i dont even care if D3 sub gets deleted, that sub is full of whiny immatured players, not generalizing, but you get what im trying to say.

imho a game doesnt need a sub until its community can prove that it needs one, knowing how malaysian gamers are, they jump ships like katak ibrahim, no comment lah, personally if i feel a game is worth spending time on ill buy it and stick with it, its just how i view my choice if games lol

im still playing D3 even now, my HC barb maxed, HC monk, DH lvl53 d, but the game itself doesnt benefit gamers in a sense based on the latest updates, not to mention friends that were supposed to play together lost interest in it faster than me, so im gonna go on a hiatus on that and try GW2, i spent like almost 9years or more on Ragnarok Online? ever since its beta hit Malaysia, still trying to find a replacement for that, personally thinks GW2 might just be the one xD i used to have RO guild members asking me to get GW1, but that time still high school kid, dont have that kinda money to spend

Then you left ele/ranger/bow pistol thief/rifle warrior. necro is boring i heard but can always try if it fits your style. You wont die as a necro though.

Yes, playing one of the most popular MMORPG in the early days and watching it sink slowly, I do have an active guild which lets me play the game for a long time. Put RO aside, if GW2 deserves a sub-forum, I don't see why other longer living threads like MapleStory wouldn't deserve a sub-forum of its own. laugh.gif

Btw, does RO has its own sub-forum back in the days? hmm.gif

Most of necro skills are about applying DoT / condition damage rather than direct nuke...

The more mesmer the better!! Do this (someone's guild did it)
- everyone create mesmer character with exactly same looks

RO wont have subforum, due to several reasons imo which is totally understandable.

1.Official Server is full of bots, its basically a bot game in mRO, the server doesnt even care from my point of view which made me sick, quited after trans got released.
2. If you were from a decent guild, they most prolly are rich enough to have their own guild forum.
3. If you are a cough* privy server player, those server have their own forums
4. Malaysian RO players mostly sucks, good ones dont stick in official or have quited long time ago.

the thing about how a game deserves a sub forum varies, imho we cant compare Gw2 to Maple, obviously GW2 is much more complex than Maple, Maple is just a regular grindfest game with items which are cash based(you get what im pointing at)

GW2 on the other hand, has a larger system imo, for instance crafting, pvp, pve etc etc, closest resemblance to say, FinalFantasyOnline in a sense? there is a larger system where everyone can discus, which makes a sub more useful as each topic has its own section, so everything doesnt get cluttered up or drowned in spam.

Maple story nothing to talk about rly other than whoring ur gears to increase e-penir, kidsplay

necro, my fav class in gw is really boring this time around imo. generally gw2 necro focus on dot, and condition dmg. using staff, you'll be targeting ground most of the times. sure in wvwvw it's useful, but gets kinda meh after playing it for a while.. (and somehow suffers badly in pve, owned in some story quest while my other class breeze it).

Necromancer is "Good luck killing me, I am behind 7 lives lol"

Really, they have the "cheat death" mechanic and, if traited properly, minions go out and leech health for you. Good thing I read the minions are a bit on the soft side.

EDIT: I think I will go ranger, problem is the medium armor doesn't really have "bikini armors"... brows.gif brows.gif

I just need them to confirm that I can stack my CE key with my standard edition key. Though when I contacted support about it they did say it will be possible when launch but since there is no official announcement, I am keeping my fingers cross. I don't want to make a second account just to use my CE key.

Think I'll keep my 6850 btw, for now. Was ~50fps most of the time on today's stress test (shadow high, Post-process low, reflection world only...)... I'll buy a new reliable PSU and wait for crossfire fix... hopefully not waiting tooooo long...

On Saturday ran GW2 everything max (unfortunately on 1366x768 though) on Asus GTX560 Direct CU II, pretty much ~60fps constant unless went into huge mess. CPU i7 3770 & overkill amount RAM btw.

Usually it's hard to actually determine a system can *ENJOY* a game or not. Can *RUN* or not is rather easy though.

Some people suggest re-download the whole client, helped them gaining better performance. And yeah hopefully things go well this week, get my new network, and re-download the client a few days before 25th. So far only 15GB, be prepared for 20+GB tongue.gif

Well a GTX260 can run the game, but not well on a 1920x1200 reso at medium setting. Between my i5 and the GTX 260, I believe the GTX260 is holding the performance back. I might wait till after the game release before deciding to get a new GC or not though.

That bad??Mine was 1gb Vram ddr3 as well.
Mine still can play High setting on non so populated area.
WvWvW gotta played 1280,balanced though or lower according to crowd.

No lar. With Mobility HD4670 at lowest settings, around 30fps only, with frequent drops to around 25fps iirc. But remember, mine is 1080p so it's pretty demanding.

At 720p at low-medium settings it's alright.

It still have some issue on the graphic wise. I'm using M14x with 2gb GT650M and yet only get 20-30FPs outside the town.. Max everything..

The game graphic I believe still under improvement.. Its abit awkward that it running on DX9 now.. but would support DX10 later..
Just like GW1 initially launch with DX8 and then update to DX9 6months later

its good to have dx9 for now since most player does not have mid-high range of gc. and i fully support 2 type of DX. one for the common low-mid gc user and another for high end user which fap across the beauty of the gw2 world laugh.gif
juz like SR3, i faced low fps and lag on using dx10&11, but when i switch to Dx9, it is fluent and consistent at 50-60fps.

yup. The 3x horizontal eyefinity makes the field of view (FoV) kinda strange though, bad negative "angle shift" (lens shift) on both left and right side... hmm.gif Or distortion, the simple term.

there are pro n cons joining crowded server lah, so i might settle for a less crowded one, have to see how the crowd settle themselves among other servers too within the 1st mth

I'm also getting around 22-25fps during WvWvW using my old HD4870

does this need a powerful computer to play on?
i'm interested to buy the game but worried if it need to have a high performance pc to get satisfied gameplay. i only use toshiba laptop with ATI Radeon HD 4500 series 1gb graphic card. so far i can play games like diablo 3, dota 2, or mass effect 3. online game that i played before are CABAL & Tribe Ascend on medium quality

Your desktop GTX670 definitely can drool.gif drool.gif

1080p maxed out should be able to easily get around 80fps+ rclxms.gif

That's good to hear,was worried i had to play on med to low settings for the next few months..mine couldn't run The Witcher 2 at all if i don't over-clock it and even then it still has framerate and lag issues

I took a lot at some price list just now and yup it's over 1k, but then I am not sure how current the price is though. So GTX 560 is the only one I can afford.

Oh I was trying it out on PVE,yes figuring out which skill to use and in which sequence do take some practice. There are times I feel I wasn't using the skills right but since it's low level pve area I can still survive.

Ah combo finisher, it's a combination of your skills and other players, can check out the video below for some of the combos

no queue time to log in.

probably got queue time to enter World vs World or main server if kena shuffled into overflow server.
and i believe sea of sorrows overflow server will be very populated also.

Some combo finisher can do it yourself (self combo).
Unfortunately there seems to be NO complete info about combo for all classes yet (but elementalist have, luckily. Sorry for other classes doh.gif) Gonna search harder with uncle.Google....

And about WvWvW queue... Note that there are FOUR (4) WvW maps. You can imagine one map = process by 1 server.
So, the population of a world (example: SoS) will not simply flood into one WvW map. If you found one WvW map can't enter, try a different one.
Also, we have a new function to enter WvW. We DON'T need to camp in the mist anymore.
Just press B, and pick which map you want to enter. If you asked to queue, just confirm and continue your other work while waiting for spot.

Overflow server is "extra space for every world". So in overflow server you'll meet with people actually from different worlds. And of course, you can do whatever you want, all progress saved/tracked. It is just like being in the same main server. Everything same, except you can't enter WvW while you on overflow server.

Of course, you can't see your friend in other server (for example if you on overflow, and he on main server). I suppose there is a "JOIN" function somewhere (later) that you can use to jump into the same server with your party. Not sure about this but I read it somewhere.

Its a temporary server for everyone on every server that needs to queue. Everything is saved. Except for uncomplete dynamic events. Theres an option to reenter queue or enter your server when a queue slot is open

That's what we did back in BWE1... camp beside the portal in the mist...
Now we don't need to do that anymore.
But if you never enter WvW before, suggest you jump into the mist for WvW TUTORIAL sequences.

Yeah now it's much easier to get into WvWvW, but geting out of it you still need to go LA first though.

I find WvWvW is sort of like PVE too, except you fight with real people, there are AI foes there as well.

how powerful is the AI foe lol, iirc back in my RYL days, in WvW maps, the AI like friggin tough, only well geared max lvls can take em down, and there was no lvl limit for players ahahahahhaha

it was preddy funny when lower lvl spells or ranged shots snipe a high lvl down in a major battle

CD is full man, it's one of the 3 servers that is full during beta and stress test. But playing pve there was fine though, no lag and smooth. For WvWvW, you''ll need to queue for Crystal Desert map, but other maps no queue.

In WvW, you also gain PvE rewards (exp, coin, karma)... So it's not hurt at all to participate, except your opponents are mostly zerglings.

Everything is scale to level 80 in WvWvW, so they are tough but not impossible to take down. I only play a bit of WvWvW so didn't actually experience it in full, was just following the group around haha.

Afaik, overflow is NOT "extra space for every world". If you server is full, you will "flow" to other server which is not full. It's like you guesting in other server.

Yeap, there is a function that you can join your team mates server by right click on a team mate icon and selection "join" or some sort like that. We've tried that in BWE3 Final Event.

There was a video back in BWE1... A large group of player follow a warrior (warrior or guardian? got a "dash forward" skill or something...).
They come in front of a valley (the gap quite wide), the warrior use his skill and dash/jump across the valley to the other side.
Guess what the others did- THEY ALL FOLLOW and all hit the bottom of the valley, all dead TROLOLOLOL...

Can't find the video already but if anyone found it please post it on LOL! tongue.gif

Not real proof though. I suspect that since BWE1 but I never ask people around when in overflow server. Back in BWE3 final event, my guild leader Kromickon moved around and asked few guys that are not in overflow server, all of them say they're in Crystal Desert.

I was in an overflow server and i world chat. Everyone is from different servers and everyone is overflowing. So how do you explain this?

your system will have bottleneck at the CPU, since core 2 duo i believe still tie to FSB, so new graphic card will not compensate much for that downside....

Overflow server is indeed a new world to temporary hold players that is unable to get in the zone of their selected server. I can confirm this, that's how I played with my friends in EU world back in BWE3.

to me world vs world is like dynasty warriors or romance of the three kingdoms.

yes it scales up, but just the basic stats, power, precision, toughness, vitality. and health.

weapons & armor values stays low level.
accessories, etc low level.
traits same as low level.

level 80 with fully upgraded armor and weapons accessories etc in world vs world definitely have some advantage over those low levels.

in spvp everyone is equal though.

After thinking about which class and race i should start for a while, i think i have come to a conclusion for a few characters.

Asura Guardian
Human Elementalist
Char Warrior -------> Warrior really grow on me after a few beta, despite i find it extremely bland at the beginning, but now, i find this class to be very versatile due to large weapon choices such as sword + axe combo for PvE and sword + mace for WvW. Also, the nice mix of buffing, support and a bit of tanking. I find it to be really fun to play in WvWvW as it can fit to different roles very quickly.

The other 2 slots, i really have no idea what to fill it with. I am thinking of playing Thief, Mesmer or Ranger as another alt, but no idea which race to choose.

if you want to force AA you can change to overide application setting in the catalyst.
tick morphology filtering and just scroll to 8xEQ.

What I mean is, forcing AA (turning on AA) on Catalyst driver caused visual corrupt in GW2- pretty much happens for most games released these few years.
So, the point here: is GuildWars2 with Catalyst 12.7 have no *visual corrupt* with Anti-Aliasing forced (turned) ON in Catalyst driver?

And I dislike Morphologic filtering.

owh, i thought you want to ask how to enable force AA in catalyst. hahaha
in game AA setting already good lor, can scale to 16x whereas in catalyst only 8x.

Hmm run GW2 client to update and I got a message that my video driver have known issue with GW2. I am running Nvidia driver 301.42 at the moment.

Guys do periodically open your GW2 client to allow for updates, especially now so near to release date, I'm sure there's some files to DL. This will help reduce your waiting time when the day comes smile.gif

Oh and I still can't decide what char to play. Elementalist as a profession quite confirmed... though I dig the thief and mesmer too... I like the looks of human race but sylvari class skill (the entangling roots thing) seem so much more useful...

Supersampling is for texture render- basically render twice your current resolution, and shrink it down on screen. Doesn't give me noticeable sharper texture so far though.

I found here that beta driver 304.79 would work better. Downloading it first just incase there's any problem, then I can just install the beta driver.

Supersampling is texture based AA, it does render twice and smoothen the edge and takes twice of resource to do it, from my experience turning this on and default.. I see noticable smoothen edge jaggies and eat around 5-8fps for me..

My god this thread runs fast. Anyway, tested the game last night during the 2am stress test. Caught up with the character creation menu for almost half an hour. laugh.gif

Regarding the latency (I'm on TIME Fibre), I can say I didn't feel any lag moving around the area or executing any skills granted I only had the chance to play at the starting area just running around like a headless chicken. I hope this will reflect on the live server later on (not the running like a headless chicken part of course).

I'll most probably roll a Human Female (dat curve!!) Mesmer as my main toon. tongue.gif

P/S: Deimos!! You miss my ID in your list. Still dunno which server I'm going to roll on launch though.
