Any good IM software that can be used instead of the Pocket MSN?

i won a t-mob mda vario from engadget mobile back in february and i just got it last thursday.

ive installed IM+ from shape services for all my IM needs - connects to MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, Gtalk & Jabber

http://www.shapeservices.com/eng/im/implus.php

seems to be working great for me so far. fantastic with the qwerty keyboard.

by the way, is there a Dopod838 club or something like that in here? been looking though the forum list for the past hour and the lowyat forum search option doesnt work all that well.

Hi i just got my Dopod from a fren of mine, but now facing some problems.
Since its a second hand unit (got it from my fren) and he registered it for the warranty, he lost the password and his receipt for the PDA as well. How do I transfer everything to me, as in to my name instead of his? Is it possible to do so?

I can't upgrade my ROM, i can't get those freewares mentioned by u all becoz of him. sleep.gif and he's not been helpful at all.

I need help here >_<

you can try looking at :
http://forum.xda-developers.com

all sorts of programs and ROM updates are available in their FTP :
ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/

just go to the folder that correspond to your phone model.

hope that helps.

bola, thanks for the links. Found a lot of useful things there. Updated my rom and my dopod improved a lot. I just notice it was running version 1.0 something rom, no wonder so faulty. sleep.gif

Now i'm a proud Dopod user! love it so much. Although my sms speed seriously bad. wil take some time to get use to writing a sms.  whistling.gif

this thread so quiet.  yawn.gif

no problem. i have a t mobile MDA vario and i run a Qtek ROM. the ROMS are interchangeable provided its the same model.

eg.
HTC Wizard = MDA vario, Qtek 9100, imate k-jam, Cingular 8125, Dopod 838,

so if you have the time (and bravery) you can flash it with ROMS for your phone from various 3rd party ROMS. bear in mind though, those 3rd parties like Cingular and T Mob have network customization for their own units. so some fuctions may not work.

but if you do look around in the xda developer site, youll find the people would have taken some of the .cabs from their ROMS and can be installed as standalone applications. personally I use the phone pad from an E-Ten M600. it looks nicer and has bigger buttons.

anyway glad it helped smile.gif

you can get the roms from your manufacturer's site and download the ROMs for installation.

alternatively you can get it from ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/

make sure you READ all the instructions before doing it else you'll brick your phone smile.gif
