Does the Dopod 818 Pro have Instant Messaging capabilities, like MSN?

Are you sure? The Dopod International site doesn't mention anything about it? Of course, if you're an actual user of the Dopod 818 Pro, then please confirm it here so that I know, thanks

Another question. Does the Dopod 818 Pro have any memory card slots? And no matter whether it does or not, how much storage memory can it have at maximum, including the card slot if there is one?

Alright, thanks.

This may not be the right place to ask, but can some one please think of an offer for me, as in my signature? I'm getting very desperate, even went through all 25 pages of the Garage Sales section to search sad.gif

Well, I'd say that those aren't 'problems' at all, kuokyeow. smile.gif To be precise, many of us post our question regarding the device here, related to manual configurations and settings where we ask for advice from fellow Dopod enthusiasts.

The thing is, the Dopod 818 Pro is an extremely powerful and complex device, which is why most of us who are less experienced with it tend to have no idea what to do for certain settings. So we just bring up our questions here smile.gif You can definitely rest assured that there are hardly any problems with it, only tonnes of question to ask and answered tongue.gif

No problem. It does stun people to see that the question on this Dopod have grown over 50+ pages.

Yes, there are differences. In the Dopod 818 Pro, we find a new OS, Windows Mobile 5 instead of the PPC Phone 2003 SE in the Dopod 818. Also, a new camera (2MP instead of 1.2MP), a TI OMAP 850 200 MHz CPU and 128MB ROM instead of 64MB.

JET's right. Even for RM1000, a malfunctioned audio device should already seriously lower the Dopod's value, especially since a phone needs sound to function. If you actually considered the cost of sending it for the repairs, plus the fact that it doesn't come with any freebies, RM1000 is not even close to being worth the money wink.gif.

Just wanna know how much is the Dopod 818Pro now, since the priced dropped to around RM1688 during PC fair.

I'm planning to get one, but getting to PC Fair is near impossible.
*
Fron what I know, the price of the Dopod at the PC Fair isn't a result of a general price drop, it's just an offer by the Dopod people to promote the item at only the PC Fair, I guess. whistling.gif

Prices elsewhere such as Sunway and a few shops in Lowyat so far are still maintaining at the 2k point. There's no reason why it would drop by RM400 at one go, even after the PC Fair. wink.gif You should probably be able to find prices around RM17xx and above after the PC Fair, but that's just a random guess smile.gif

Ermm, Wifi_One. I don't suppose you are aware that your price is a good RM100 higher than the current retail price and the PC Fair offer. It's understandable that you're looking for profit, but the same package you're offering is available everywhere else since the PC Fair for RM1688 as you may have read of in the 2 posts above yours by janicelmk & kuntakinte smile.gif. If you're really interested in selling it, you should try at least the same price people can get it outside. Just my 2 cents though wink.gif

One of my favourites is the Penpower Worldcard Mobile. Well, trial version at least, coz the actual thing costs USD $25. Business card recognition through the Dopod's 2.0 MP camera. Snap a photo, let it auto-recognition, so far the results are amazing. Nearly 95% accurate, but as long as you snap it at the right angle, focus and lighting surroundings, this is pretty useful a tool for people with loads of business cards to add smile.gif

Let's see, I suppose you're looking for useful application which you want your seller to get for you, especially ones where you need to PAY? lol

My range of softwares are mostly free, but if you want to save yourself the trouble of having to find, download, install etc. and just get your seller to do them for you tongue.gif, here's a list of mine :

Capture Screen > Allows you to snap screenshots for use when problems arise with your Dopod and you need someone to help solve it smile.gif
ClearTemp > Clears your cache and temporary memory banks
Pocket E-Sword > Pocket PC Bible, very useful tool if you're a Christian On The Move
ClearVue PDF > Allows you to open PDF files on your Dopod
GroceryDay > Useful tool if you're frequently buying groceries. Functions as a shopping list which also lets you sort out lists for different dates, places etc.
IPTool > When used, it scans and displays your IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway IP, DHCP Server, Wireless Connection Signal and WEP status......
MyCalculator > Scientific calculator with slick and smooth appearances
NS Contacts Backup > Creates a backup copy of your contacts, letting you save it somewhere else in case your memory is wiped
Pocket Skype > A miniature Pocket-PC version of the popular VOIP client, Skype
smartFlash > Allows you to play SWF files on your Dopod
SP TimeSync > Synchronizes your Dopod's time to an online time server and corrects it
SuperDoku > Get this if you're a sudoku addict. Prepares sudokus according to each level for you to solve, and also allows you to input a sudoku and solves it for you automatically
Task Manager > Works just like Windows Task Manager on your computer

any useful link to download 838pro application?
*
Ermm...don't mean to be rude or anything, but shouldn't you ask on that in the '838 Pro' thread? blush.gif To answer you anyways, you can always google for them, also here are a few links for all Pocket PC applications :

Getjar.com
Pocket PC Soft.net
Freeware PPC.com

NOTE : ALL DOPODS CAN USE THE SAME APPLICATIONS REGARDLESS OF THEIR MODELS BECAUSE THEY ALL RUN ON WINDOWS MOBILE 5

Ouch, that's pretty risky. One wrong move and your Dopod goes down the tubes. Don't think you could actually improve the performance much though, as the battery life is already pretty short wink.gif

Hope to get all sifu advice.

I'm planning to buy a 2G SD Card for my Dopod818Pro.
Wondering wht's the fastest speed tht it can support le??
120x ???

And wht brand is good? ScanDisk?
*
Hmm... I have asked that question of yours before as well. Firstly, I recommend Kingston if you're on budget. Most brand which you know of like Sandisk amd Kingston are usually reliable. About the speeds, since we are without a good answer even from the Dopod's manual and among ourselves, your best choice to be safe is to get anything lower than 100x. Here's a table about the different speeds available.
  • 4x: 600 KB/s
  • 16x: 2.4 MB/s
  • 40x: 6.0 MB/s
  • 66x: 10MB/s
  • 133x: 20MB/s
For more information, you can refer to this source: Understanding SD Flash Memory Card Speeds

You can get your cards from this seller in LYN : [WTS]Memory Cards & Pen Drives (M2 512MB for RM156)

Best Regards and Good Luck Hunting smile.gif

Alright. PocketDict has 2 English dictionaries available. The OPTED-dictionary has good explanations of the words, while the Encarta dictionary contains a more vast vocabulary database. If you have lots of memory to spare, installing both is recommended. smile.gif

Download Links for Dictionary Databases :

OPTED Dictionary for PocketDict (8mb)

Encarta Dictionary for PocketDict (4mb)
