I think is because u install some program that making it hang or lag or black out...
Do try with hard rest then if the problem still ON, then is hardware problem...

I brough my 818 at mid valley PDA expert...
Which i can said they give good service...
Plus friendly too...

I guess I have solved most of my problems on software incompatibility.

When I first spoke to the people at SIS, I was told that there was no way you can corrupt the ROM. After going through a few hard resets and reinstallations...phew! I still could not install some softwares. I then suspected that my ROM was corrupted somehow and demanded from them the ROM disk for me to do a ROM reflash.

I managed to get a copy from their office in Penang and did a ROM reflash myself. Once done I was able to reinstall all the programs that I earlier had problems with. So I was right - my ROM was corrupted!
For those who experienced problems like mine, I suggest you do a ROM reflash.

Please note the ROM disk that I received is still the old version...the new version has yet to come! I was told it will be in April 06.

I have checkout the price for one shop in Low Yat. I think the shop is called Digital Stuff or something like that. Located between a luggage shop and video shop. RM2588 with screen protector, memory card and external speakers.

so far, i guess this shop is reliable because i have used to buy stuffs from there (Tungsten T3 and Sony Clie). their service is good as well.

you might wanna try there if possible

i was about to get it but somehow, after thoroughly calculate my financial, i can't afford.

Or maybe the device is from oversea which might selling cheaper then here...
U could ask the buyer to give u the invoice to prove is brough localy.
RM2250 is kind a good price man... Plus all those free gift...

Here are some interesting tips to change your Dopod 818 splash screen.

Here's what you need:

First you need this tool call splash_bmp_to_wizard program, you can click here to download.
Second make a 240 x 320 24 bit True Bitmap image file, to make sure it is a 24bit bmp just use MS Paint to open and save it as a 24bit BMP. Make sure the file name is splash.bmp
You can get the template from here

Here's how you do it step by step:

1. Create a new folder and name it whatever you want.
2. Put the splash_bmp_to_wizard program that you downloaded and in the new folder that you created.
3. Put the splash.bmp file that you created into the same folder as the splash_bmp_to_wizard.
4. Sync with your 818 Pro.
5. Run the prograrm by double-clicking on the exe file.
6. Wait for the process to be finished, your device will reboot and you will have your custom made splash screen.
