Not sure if I should ask in Harware Q&A or here.
Sifus,
What type of fan should I get to connect to my DFI motherboard (3 pin connector)?
I want the the fan speed to vary depending on the temperature.

I'm using the PowerLogic Atrix 5000 casing.
It comes with 2 fans - 12cm side & 9cm back. I want to instll a 8cm fan to the top and connect it to the motherboard. What RPM should I go for 1800/2500/3600??? Do I need to get a fan with its own temp sensor and variable fan speed (like 1 of the cooler master model)? or Do I need to just get a fan with variable rpm? or something else? |

i think itll be best to get a fan with a built in temp sensor for ur use. that way u can just plug it in and let it run without having to manually control it as the temp sensor will control the fan speed according to the temp it detects.

I saw AllnGap's bulk have Delta 8cm, but it doesn't state temp sensor.
How about Thermal Take Smart Fan II, is it good? |

QUOTE(CoffeeDude @ Feb 2 2006, 04:31 PM) honestly dude.....it all depends on ur tolerance level for noise. u gotta find something that has the best airflow for the noise level u can tolerate. if u wan really powerful and silent..no such thing. u wan silent and okok air flow... got a few out there...... u wan silent and minimal airflow, cm uv silent fan but if u wan raw power and dont give a rats ass about noise....then i suggest my favourite, Delta FFB. as for connecting fans to ur mobo.... look for fans that are BELOW 0.8A. any higher and u run the risk of frying. the FFBs are not mobo friendly btw. no powerful fans are mobo friendly. |

what you're looking for is called a smartfan...apparently its not recommended to connect those to your motherboard power..
so if its possible, get one with a built in temperature probe so u can plug it to ur PSU This post has been edited by gr2000: Feb 2 2006, 09:26 PM |
