Hi,

I drive vios 2007 type e.
I jus want to install front component speakers.
After going thru some topics in this forum, I visited an ice shop.
Told him I want install front component speakers that will be powered by hu only, no amp.

He told me hv to match sensitivity of hu to sensitivity of speakers. Otherwise will need amp.
I can see on the speakers box packing, there is rating of sensitivity......but when I go back to my home and chk manual on my stock hu, there is no sensitivity.
I want to know so that when I select the front component I can be sure my hu is able to support the speakers.
Or did d ice shop guy bluff me?

This for ur replies.

his explaination was not accurate.
if ur gonna use back ur stock player to drive the aftermarket speakers, then u need to look for a easily driven speakers. preferably high sensitivity speakers like 90db n above
as stock HU only capable to output 15-20RMS.

definitely will improve over stock system. but there's a problem whereby most people tend to overlook.
since there's no external preamp/proc/amp, mosty likely u wont have a high pass on the mid. meaning it will play all the down, causing reliabilty issue on the mids.
but then again, u sure love the midbass kow kow..hehe

general settings for high pass on mids, 60hz - 90hz

in general most branded speakers costing RM1K below can be driven by a stock HU. dats the manufacturer target market.

so theoretically high sensitivity speaker mate with stock HU. future upgrade with external amp will further improve SQ of the aftermarket component.
