The opening of Legoland has reignited my passion for LEGO, can't wait to pay a visit! Used to have one bucket full pieces from lots of multiple sets, then I gave them to my brother when I was in Secondary school. Not sure how well kept are they now sweat.gif The only set I've kept is my first & only Technic set, which is this F1 racer biggrin.gif Hands are itchy now, plan to play around with it and build the alternate model. Luckily manage to find the manual online since I've lost mine.

Always was a fan of Technic but I couldn't afford them last time although prices then was so much lower. Guess I might start to buy a few Technic sets now that I can afford them(the more I read & Google around the more poison I get drool.gif), but heck are they expensive.

Are there any online shops that ship to Malaysia with a reasonable fee?

Yes I am sure. Like I bought the Lego City Fire Station, it's about RM50 cheaper after the SGD conversion.

However, when you go through the Custom at JB, some times they will kacau you when see you buy clothings and lots. sad.gif
*
Not all are cheaper I think, it depends on the sets. Some sets are cheaper here while others are cheaper there. So you'll have to compare prices first before buying.

I came back from SG through CIQ last Saturday, our Custom just let everyone walk by. Didn't stop a single person! sweat.gif doh.gif shakehead.gif

Modular, Star Wars and Technic flagships are appreciating Lego sets where they go up in value over time. At one time the Batman sets were a hot commodity until TLG decided to re-release all of them as part of the Superheroes line.  laugh.gif If you look at the price for MISB modular buildings the rate of increase is like better than stock market lol.

Of course there are some sets like the Maersk sets which feature the Maersk blue bricks which are high in value.

hmm that sucks...I'm attracted to the whole Modular series now, but don't have budget cry.gif

so am i...  cry.gif i don't know when i'll get mine but i've been saving up to buy. so right now i've only limited myself to collecting minifigures (4 full sets now!  rclxms.gif ) and refraining from buying sets like T1 campervan, POC ships.

i'm trying to get one set at least by end of 2012. hmm.gif why lah i have to be an AFOL.  doh.gif  wink.gif why can't i just collect pencils or what only. hahahah

really cant tell u man.
I might list 10 stores I bought from before, and none have the parts u want.
but u see those on the main page, got featured store , usually a lot of parts one.

the best store for me is one that has (many) parts I want. and I always search the part, then only identify the store. there is no preference for me, janji they send to me and the shipping is reasonable.
*
Are shipping cost for most shops roughly the same or does one vary drastically from another?

so far its more consistent for my EU orders. I seen some that if international will only ship parcel/courier which is very expensive.

you can see all the info in the store terms. alwiz read the terms before u order.

Thanks! Will try my first haul from BL within this 2 months

generally the shipping will be between 30% - 40% of your total orders.

For my last transaction with legostock ...

total parts: 620
price for parts: rm81
+ shipping/insurance etc:  rm33
total = RM114
*
does this shipping estimation apply to sets as well?

dont think so. assuming sets means boxed aka "bulkier" in shape... different calculations might apply (not to mention additional weight incurred by the instruction booklet as well) . However... you can ask seller to remove the box altogether and pack your stuff in a more "economical" way.
*
ya new boxed sets. But the boxes look so nice! Hmm 1 point to consider

Hey guys. check out my latest MOC Transformers, based on a G1  / 80's transformers called Misfire. What's so memorable causing me to rebuilt him using LEGO is his sleek jet mode and "simple" transformation sequence:

very nice!
Just wondering though, are your MOC transformable from vehicle to robot mode & vice versa or do u have to rebuilt for each mode?
I can't tell from the photos
