Is obvious their purchaser NEVER play LEGO b4.. (& never even try to assemble best-lock too!!! )

... on top of that, the best-lock salesperson must be damn slick!
*
Yup, the sales person is doing his job; to make the sale. And most likely both of them may not played LEGO before. Its us the consumer who gets the taste of the final product. Maybe after many complaints from customers would big retailers like Robinson or Metrojaya take note and be careful of offering substitute brands for LEgo or other toys.

More of Saddam's army.

I like LEGO but still, current distributor is a vampire.

Chaud, congrats on your findings. I noticed sometimes TRU dun replenish the whole case but take some from fresh box to place on old box. Their reason being to reduce lost/ stolen and avoid swept by hardcore collectors.

Why should a big retailer like metro jaya selling rubbish!

Thats a bit too harsh ... LEGO clones are still decent building blocks, albeit the lower quality (pay peanuts, get monkeys). Considering the price of LEGO , its a bit risky for retailers not to offer similar alternative so consumers can easily decide and checkout. its mostly about profit.

Hopefully with the competitive building block toys filling the shelves and posing threat to LEGO... maybe our local distributor can smarten up and review their pricing when the malls refusing to take in more stock due to poor reception. Either way , I will patiently wait for their warehouse sale. God I miss the ex LEGO distributor texchem and their sales.

I see some comments on the Best-Lock bricks. I have yet to try them out due to the high price of the sets. The price is quite expensive and the picture of the bricks and the minifigs does not look good. Another reason is due to the fact most of my budget is on the real Lego and nothing left for alternatives. sweat.gif

I feel Kre-O is a serious competitor to Lego, but Hasbro is doing it very wrong by pricing itself more expensive than Lego. The irony is that the Transformer and Battleship franchise is Hasbro's own theme, much like City and Friends are Lego's own theme. So there should not be any premium price to pay unlike Star Wars sets where part of the price goes to George Lucas' pocket.

If there is a clone brand which should be in TRU it is Oxford. some of their military sets are well designed.

Guys,

After watch the below video on the new Technic set 9398, i found the this owner mentioned the original motor tag along is not powerful enough for a crawler.

And this another video show tht this set has been turn to XL motor. May i know any sifu here got any idea how to mod it? Is it just get a XL motor and replace with he original motor then everything settle or need to get other part together with the motor?

*
Hi, I have this set, the motor that came with this set is actually a new "M"- motor, it's more powerful but smaller than XL motor. After building it, if you ask me whether you can mod it with XL motor, I would say it's very, very difficult simply because, this model is TIGHT! Every part is constructed very precisely, and I believe LEGO has to make a new motor just so that they can make this model! Plus, there's a new servo motor that serves to steer all four wheels at the same time (yes it has actual 4-wheel steering!)

I honestly think this is one of the best technic set LEGO has ever released. The gearing system is mind blowing. Two gearing for each wheel, and 8 gearings for each motor, so total number of gears to move this beast is 32! Also the suspension system is brilliantly done. I would say this model is more like an engineering product than a toy.

This is a highly recommended set. You will have fun playing it as well as building it. Seeing how other technic set is priced almost as high, i think it's justified to get this set just on the fun playing factor alone. Plus you get all the power functions stuff!

i spent the whole nite picking bricks at BL to expand my apple tree house to a villa.
structure alone (bricks plates tiles) also hit rm220 liao excl. shipping sad.gif

BL parts very expensive... seem like i am better off buy 2 more same set, and combine them.
*
BL is only good if you mass order a lot of the same parts, if you're trying to source for all the different bricks to build a set, then buying the set itself is definitely cheaper (unless it's discontinued sets like cafe corner, then you're better off sourcing for the parts than buying the set cos the price is ridiculous). Or look for another set which has most of the parts you need. From my experience, buying sets has better value becos you can always sell the parts you don't need. If the set comes with minifigs then sometimes selling the minifigs itself can already cover half your cost. For example 6868 Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout is bout 250+ but the hulk itself is selling for 90+. Of course, that's if you're not into minifigs. wink.gif

yes, BL part by part to make a set is very expensive. i ordered 70% of parts needed for a small cafe moc 6x10 also cost like rm50+.

so probably gonna buy another full set, and try to see what i can make out of that instead.

I have called a few TRU,, looks like long time no replendish of S7. Clearing the way for S8 perhaps. If anyone thinking of going to Empire, IOI for S7 today, don't bother. I have called and there is no stock.
