@Vey99: Yea, I'm buying all of the modulars as we speak before their prices skyrocket. So much cheaper in U.S.

Just arrived:

I bought them MISB, spent half a day building these two. Very tiring but a lot of fun biggrin.gif

they pretty much have a complete monopoly and can dictate the prices they set without much fear of competition from anyone else.

if consumer dun buy, there will be price pressure from retail side that will force distributor to adjust price. however that seldom happens/not so easy/not so fast.

ALJ is the evil distributor responsible for notoriously high Lego prices in Malaysia. Basically, Lego prices in stores here are jacked up above and beyond what many Lego fans feel they should pay for sets. Sets in Singapore are much cheaper in Malaysia, for example.

Because they're the sole distributor, they pretty much have a complete monopoly and can dictate the prices they set without much fear of competition from anyone else.
*
Lol, you phrase it quite dramatic haha. But I do agree on the sole distributor part.

It's true, modular building price go up faster than stock market. sweat.gif Last time Green Grocer and Cafe Corner so cheap only, now more than twice the price. That's why some people have to Bricklink the whole set aka buy each individual piece by piece.

I now have 4 modulars, GG, FB, Pet Shop and Grand Emporium. Using this few days to build them all since I want to see a row of them. Pet Shop and FB was MISB before this, GG and GE was taken apart and rebuild. Actually wanted to have the Town Hall too but still have not arrive yet. Oh well. I have build 3 already, only left the GE to rebuild.

@panjaang16: Glad to see another modular collector. I bought Town Hall and Petshop as a set from an online seller but both are stuck in Malaysian customs since 27/07. No news as of yet... My CC is stuck in Australian customs because seller failed to disclose amount... But yeah, better to get them now and live poorer than regret not getting them when they go +300 dollars.

@Gizzi69: I got it from a guy in Australia. He needed money for his Phd so he decided to let go all of his sets. He had a lot of sets for sale but I went late. I got it for about AUD$150 (shipping was ~20 dollars i think) which I thought was an absolute steal biggrin.gif

I can't find CC less than USD1000 now, and that's used. MISB is about USD2500. Did you get it from ebay?

Funny reply, yet is a sad truth.

Legoland Malaysia seems not attractive enough for me to go all the way south..Mebbe after their hotel is open 1st

i spent the whole nite picking bricks at BL to expand my apple tree house to a villa.
structure alone (bricks plates tiles) also hit rm220 liao excl. shipping sad.gif

BL parts very expensive... seem like i am better off buy 2 more same set, and combine them.

i am playing with it now

Lego Digital Designer -> LDD to POVRAY converter -> POVRAY to render

the nicest setting takes forever to render on my i5 processor (few hours for a 1920x1080)
so now i lower the quality and render 1280x720.
