I was wondering about the profit that the park can generate. I remember when I was in Disneyland in Japan where it was packed as hell with people and people were buying lots of stuff inside. Of course Japanese are the kind of people who loved theme parks and they can run it very very well. Then the weather there is very cooling unlike here

I am quite worried about the price of Lego inside the park. There are 2 scenarios:-
1) Price cheaper than the whole M'sia - lots of people with annual pass are going to act like middleman and buy Lego in the park for resale. Postage is cheap, I remember the cost to Poslaju a Technic flagship box from Penang to KL is around RM 30.
2) Price similar to the RRP in all the shops in Malaysia - sales will be very bad as all the tourists are going to hold off buying Lego in the park. I can imagine every single tourist going to the park asking the tour guide in the bus if it is worth it to buy Lego in Legoland. What do you think the tourist guide will tell the tourist? What if the tourist go to Orchard road only to see the Police Station he bought for RM 550 only costs RM 400 after super big discount due to the Great Singapore sale? Me myself get all my large Lego sets online and not through TRU or Brickboy. Sometimes I do buy from TRU but that is when opening time or holiday discount period. Part of the profit to the park is through the sale of Lego.

Then there are prices of Lego accessories like stationary, water bottles etc. TRU themselves brought in some stationary sets and water bottles and those stuff cost a bomb  Maybe it is due to the TRU mark-up and it is not through ALJ or Lego but the price is insane for China made stuff. Sadly the yellow color of the stuff is not the yellow Lego bricks are known for.

Thinking of going on opening day, but I think I want to do a 'wait and see' approach first. 

TRU in TCM and Hartamas shopping Centre has stocks. Managed to complete S7. My first collection.

Initially, I only wanted bunny guy and bride for my kids. And suddenly, I got addicted. One after another and started swapping with others. And what the heck..just needed 6 more to complete. Bought them all today.  I need to focus on only one theme on Lego...I might now want to get s1-s6..haha.

I also bought the kingdom chess set..

Dont get too high hopes on varieties in pick-a-brick either. Its highly unlikely they will offer even 90% of parts found in big/exclusive sets. There are too many parts in LEGO inventory, not to mention colors as well.  I personally would be very much contented if they offer an average of 20 - 25 sen per part for common parts.

Have to separate into licensed and non-licensed set , still.  Licensed set hits a wallet-squeezzing 50 sen per piece on average.  The rest mostly lingers around 35 - 40 sen.  LEGO company LOVE to introduce huge part into the set to justify their 40 sen per piece .  Just look at the dino theme. Each dino figure "contributes" to the set , lessening the number of actual parts .  And lets look at the Creator motorcycle, just by having 2 big tyres inside... the parts count become <200 for    rm100 (assuming 10% discount). I don't want to talk about overpriced ninjago vehicles either that (again) contains 2 or more HUGE tyres.

Don't we all have the same problem ? How can we educate our kids ?

My son always pinch my CMF acccessories for his MOC, I just found the laptop missing from the S7 Programmer. Earlier was the spear from the Roman Soldier , even the horn of Viking girl went missing. Not really missing but in the pile of City and SW sets.

Just got this email from Legoland. Apparently, The Big Shop will be up and running next week. Will probably find time to go check it out and report back with how is it!

In the past, we keep most parts in their respective "set piles" coz if one or few went missing.. all hell breaks loose. Today no need worry.. there's always bricklink.com =)  . and of coz... just PM me if you have missing few parts.. I might dig into my inventory and give you FREE ( I've enuff of everything. so don't worry).

In the end.... we all wanted to minimize the hassle / time wasted of doing boring tasks (like sorting/retrieval) and go right in into playing/building immediately.  Time is a commodity for most of us AFOLs . finish work reach home settling down 8pm++, left  only an hour or two to indulge ourselves (that if not being nagged by the queen to do house chores first). LOL.

Haha, I dont mind updating the thread when I'm there. Most likely will snap a ton of pictures and document the pricing and what's available on Pick A Brick. I can sit myself down at the cafe and update the tread with some first-hand information!
