QUOTE(paanjang16 @ Aug 10 2012, 10:58 PM) I was wondering about the profit that the park can generate. I remember when I was in Disneyland in Japan where it was packed as hell with people and people were buying lots of stuff inside. Of course Japanese are the kind of people who loved theme parks and they can run it very very well. Then the weather there is very cooling unlike here Good analysis there. Rationally, the price should be cheaper inside LM as compared to Msia's RRP. Otherwise, visitors would complaint why would they buy things inside LM. But another view would be, the main income is from entrance fee and not retailing. LM might even argue, their shops has more variety or exclusive products only available inside LM. (That will also help TLG to jaga hati ALJ ). Hence the price is same as RRP I am quite worried about the price of Lego inside the park. There are 2 scenarios:- 1) Price cheaper than the whole M'sia - lots of people with annual pass are going to act like middleman and buy Lego in the park for resale. Postage is cheap, I remember the cost to Poslaju a Technic flagship box from Penang to KL is around RM 30. 2) Price similar to the RRP in all the shops in Malaysia - sales will be very bad as all the tourists are going to hold off buying Lego in the park. I can imagine every single tourist going to the park asking the tour guide in the bus if it is worth it to buy Lego in Legoland. What do you think the tourist guide will tell the tourist? What if the tourist go to Orchard road only to see the Police Station he bought for RM 550 only costs RM 400 after super big discount due to the Great Singapore sale? Me myself get all my large Lego sets online and not through TRU or Brickboy. Sometimes I do buy from TRU but that is when opening time or holiday discount period. Part of the profit to the park is through the sale of Lego. Then there are prices of Lego accessories like stationary, water bottles etc. TRU themselves brought in some stationary sets and water bottles and those stuff cost a bomb Thinking of going on opening day, but I think I want to do a 'wait and see' approach first. i really not sure. i just go a bad vibe, nothing will be cheap inside LM One thing for sure, if it is cheaper than RRP, the scalpers will made a weekly (even daily) trip to LM and more online blogshops/shops/threads will suddenly appear after september 15th. Whoever is going, please help to report on its prices Added on August 13, 2012, 9:49 am QUOTE(Gizzi69 @ Aug 13 2012, 12:41 AM) TRU in TCM and Hartamas shopping Centre has stocks. Managed to complete S7. My first collection. haha..a very familiar path...welcome welcome Initially, I only wanted bunny guy and bride for my kids. And suddenly, I got addicted. One after another and started swapping with others. And what the heck..just needed 6 more to complete. Bought them all today. I need to focus on only one theme on Lego...I might now want to get s1-s6..haha. I also bought the kingdom chess set.. This post has been edited by dilvin: Aug 13 2012, 09:49 AM |

QUOTE(alanyuppie @ Aug 14 2012, 09:13 AM) Dont get too high hopes on varieties in pick-a-brick either. Its highly unlikely they will offer even 90% of parts found in big/exclusive sets. There are too many parts in LEGO inventory, not to mention colors as well. I personally would be very much contented if they offer an average of 20 - 25 sen per part for common parts. Does anyone have the rough idea how much per piece for the sets (regardless of size/theme) selling in our local stores?20 sen used to get me a very tasty nasi lemak bungkus |

QUOTE(alanyuppie @ Aug 14 2012, 09:44 AM) Have to separate into licensed and non-licensed set , still. Licensed set hits a wallet-squeezzing 50 sen per piece on average. The rest mostly lingers around 35 - 40 sen. LEGO company LOVE to introduce huge part into the set to justify their 40 sen per piece . Just look at the dino theme. Each dino figure "contributes" to the set , lessening the number of actual parts . And lets look at the Creator motorcycle, just by having 2 big tyres inside... the parts count become <200 for rm100 (assuming 10% discount). I don't want to talk about overpriced ninjago vehicles either that (again) contains 2 or more HUGE tyres. man! i really gotta educate my son on the importance/value of each piece! The sets are mixed up, scattered on his playmat ..nothing is missing (yet) |

QUOTE(kenny_pang @ Aug 14 2012, 10:07 AM) Don't we all have the same problem ? How can we educate our kids ? how to "handle" the pile of "mess" ha? i used to separate them back to their original sets but now, i just let them mixed up and thot to myself, on one fine day, will separate them again. My son always pinch my CMF acccessories for his MOC, I just found the laptop missing from the S7 Programmer. Earlier was the spear from the Roman Soldier , even the horn of Viking girl went missing. Not really missing but in the pile of City and SW sets. Fret the pile getting bigger and not able to separate them back (or too time consuming) * in the meanwhile, his imagination is running wild, a battle between the "bad" guys and the "good" guys ?? horn of viking can be taken out one ke? QUOTE(Alucrix @ Aug 14 2012, 10:35 AM) Just got this email from Legoland. Apparently, The Big Shop will be up and running next week. Will probably find time to go check it out and report back with how is it! First hand info on the pricing » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE(alanyuppie @ Aug 14 2012, 10:37 AM) In the past, we keep most parts in their respective "set piles" coz if one or few went missing.. all hell breaks loose. Today no need worry.. there's always bricklink.com =) . and of coz... just PM me if you have missing few parts.. I might dig into my inventory and give you FREE ( I've enuff of everything. so don't worry). Thanks in advance. In the end.... we all wanted to minimize the hassle / time wasted of doing boring tasks (like sorting/retrieval) and go right in into playing/building immediately. Time is a commodity for most of us AFOLs . finish work reach home settling down 8pm++, left only an hour or two to indulge ourselves (that if not being nagged by the queen to do house chores first). LOL. very true, time is so precious that i do not wish to spend it on sorting. Is just too time consuming! i guess the piles will be around for some time. In the meawhile, play well!!! |
