- Your rig (mp3 players, amps, sound card etc) - PC & headphones and possibly a E07k - What type of usage (movies/ gaming/ music etc) - Gaming, movies - File format used in your source (i.e. flac, mp3 etc) - Mp3s, cda, flac - Genre of music you listen to (classical, jazz, metal, etc) - All genre - Headphone/ earphone type (closed, open, circumaural, IEM etc) - Not sure, something like the AD700 where its big and comfy. Closed?
My budget is RM200-250?
Currently have my eyes on the Beyer DT231 and A-Technica AD300

i got a question guys, recently i went to jaben and tried out a few headphones and earphones. One thing that struck me was when i listened to the dt231,TAD300,Goldring dr100 and the beyer XP1,2,3. I had this problem.
At certain parts of a song it would be ear piercingly sharp, and when I use the beyer XP series the songs I played were so piercingly sharp that I couldn't hear the lyrics. The songs I tested with was "Catch my breath" and "Closer to the edge".
I'm not sure if it was the song but when I switched from the beyer xp series to the dt231 it was like 300x better. Is it the earphones are a bit damaged or is it the songs? Tried it from an Iphone4s and a Galaxy S3 can someone give me some input on this?
Because honestly I don't think it should be having these problems because I never read anything about what's happening to me pop up in forums. Is it the treble is too much and I need to reduce it with an EQ? I used a dunu trident and the sharp and screechy sound wasn't there like the beyer xp series had.
Planning to get headphones in February so would like some advice.

- Budget : < RM400 max - Your rig : PC,MP3 player(ipod/hippo gumstick),Galaxy S3 - What type of usage : Pure music listening - File format used in your source : mp3,flac - Genre of music you listen to : j-rock,rock,R&B,soundtracks - Headphone/ earphone type : Circumaural/open/closed (will try both open and close before buying so just give suggestion) - Other requirements : I don't want a headphone with a bright signature because my ears can't handle the sharp treble. I want punchy bass but not boomy.

QUOTE(Penoreh_Getah @ Jan 25 2013, 08:52 PM) roccat kave doesnt have external soundcard like cm sirus. anything else? just get a Roccat Kulo or Razer Carcharias. If want compare sound quality normal headphones are a lot better no need spend so much on gaming headphones you wont exactly get premium sound. Most movies and music don't come in 5.1 surround only benefit is in-game. So if gaming just get a normal headset if you really want 5.1 go sirius than. Music+movies = Normal headphones(as in not gaming headset) some gaming headset still has good quality sound but not exactly exceptional when compared to headphone of same price.

QUOTE(princess_s @ Jan 27 2013, 10:28 AM) WTF : in ear headphones. SOLELY FOR MUSIC. Types of music : house , trance, classical music, pop songs Prefer strong bass and decent clarity. Budget : below 200 I like my Dunu Topsound Trident's they have nice tight and punchy bass and has really good clarity which I enjoy to use to listen to my Ragnarok Online Soundtrack. Can give it a shot I think RM120 only.

Hey guys im currently using a Dunu Trident, but after listening to my ms1i and a500x on my fiio e10 I feel that it doesn't give me the experience that I want anymore.
Because of that can someone suggest me an IEM or a portable over the ears from RM200-300. Will be using this outside in malls/college/etc. But college hallways so a bit of sound leak is not a problem.
I listen to all genre of music except for dubstep and house so im not into ground shaking bass, i like nice controlled punchy bass.
My source will be either my S3 or the Nova N1.
Right now eyeing the FAD Adagio II and the ATH SJ55/FC707
Thank you very much for reading.

actually was wondering something about headphones? at what stage can you start writing reviews for headphones? as in like what gear at least do you need to begin? Would an AD900X be enough or does it have to be like the HD650 or the Beyer T1?
Anyways im here for recommendations!
I already have AD900x on the way so i'm looking for something within the same price point. A closed back headphone AND a portable. Depending on my choice I will chose either but not both, i'm having my eyes on the beyer custom one pro(can i use that as a portable xD?) so maybe right now just a portable which can give me the same sound as the beyer custom one pro.
