- My Rig: PC, phone ( plan to buy a apple ipod)
- Type of usage: Music, Movies
- File format: mp3,mp4
- Music genre: any
- Budget: Around RM400 to RM500
- Headphone/ earphone type: Over-ear headphones
- Other requirements (if any): Comfortable and some extra bass. Mic and volume control would be a plus

Any recommendations? Interested in Audio Technica M50 but cannot affort one
*

Honestly, if you want an M50, get a used one. Audition it and if everything is working fine then buy it.
Headphones are like fine wine, they sound better through time. (That's why people burn in headphones up to 500 hours before listening)

Currently own a UD100 DAC, FiiO E11 amp, JVC HA-S500.

Looking for headphones to play mostly vocals, rock, some metal, some jazz and classical. Don't need to be bass heavy as my S500 is already great in bass. I would prefer something more flat, and budget is maybe sub RM400.

Currently eyeing on the Superlux HD330, Creative Aurvana Live!, Takstar B2050, and another one out of the price range is the Fostex T50RP.

PM me if your suggestion is long and descriptive, I'm always up for some discussion. We can exchange knowledge.

Edit**
one more thing, I would like good imaging, instrument separation, and soundstage.

I would prefer circumaural cans instead of supraaural ones. Already have a good supraaural set.
I'm hoping to choose one of the ones I have listed, other suggestions would be great too.

pro5mk2 is ton of bass

i think goldring might be a good choice. their sound more toward accoustic and warm
*

Yes I guess eggy is right. I have no experience with pro5mk2 but I do own a Goldring DR150. After a few days of usage and switching to my JVC HA-S500, it felt like the bass is too much.
I would recommend the Goldring too.

Hello, looking to get new headphone smile.gif

- Your rig - Computer and maybe sometimes mp3 player)
- What type of usage (Mostly music and gaming. Ocacasionally I watch Movies)
- File format used in your source (MP3 and youtube tongue.gif)
- Genre of music you listen to (Pop, Dubstep, EDM, Alternative rock [LINKIN PARK!])
- Headphone/ earphone type (I wear glasses and the sides are a bit thick, Any should do as long as it's comfortable with glasses)
- Other requirements (if any) (Mic[Optional],)
-Budget - RM400 or less
*

Pop and Dubstep? Definitely the JVC HA-S500. RM260 incl. postage. You will never regret the bass extension this baby has.
But they're supraaurals so they rest on your ears, might be a little uncomfortable when you're wearing glasses. The reactions are mixed, but for me personally the pads are soft enough to rest comfortably on my head.
They aren't very amp dependent so you can drive them from virtually any music source (phone, computer, mp3 player) and don't need to worry they don't get enough juice to drive.
Hands down the most affordable good dynamic headphones I have ever tested.

hey, im very sorry for it! hmm i guess i will still need to do my research.... but from what i've found yesturday, that the senn 650/600HD WOULD not sound superb right out of the box, they sound even worse than those 30$headphones. but if you buy an amp, those 600/650HD would be SUPERBBB!! now im considering Byerdynamics 770/880/990 too! and also M50 Audio technica ( but i'll just do my research now and when i narrowed down to what i need i'll ask for help here, thank you for assisting me anyways)
*
You might want to keep your eyes on the Sennheiser HD598. I've read that they are not very amp dependent but sounds quite nice as well. They are open cans however so sound will leak out and in as well. They are fun sounding headphones and a lot of people prefer them over the HD650 and HD600 because those are quite flat and analytical. Fun headphones are good for most music genres.

Lastly, try them out before buying, any headphone you want to buy you have to test them out.

hi guys thanks for the replies! but im not sure why, everytime when i do researches about other headphones (sennheires, eyerdynamics, akg) i would end up missing the M50 sad.gif its like my heart is telling me to get those! when i see a thread/post about M50 i get really excited biggrin.gif.

the 598 looks a little ugly ( no offence guys) but i would definitely pay those a visit. thanks;
*

Then you probably should get the M50. It's quite a good starter headphone before venturing to test other headphones.

Hey guys!
hmm so i guess i would step out from sennheisers. as the 650/600 are too big for me, so the comfortability ruined it, so its pointless...

hmm but im not sure my heart is telling me to go get the M50. but i've read more and more reviews/appreaciation thread about the M50 and it seems like that it has more bad reviews about comfortability ... so arghh!!!.. and now im currently want to get  either Beyer 770/880 or the M50.

ok so my friend is going to hongkong anytime soon! so i need a good decision and a quick one too!
so the prices are:
M50 =165$
Beyer Dt 880= 309$
beyer Dt 880 pro= 335$
beyer dt 770 pro = 238$
beyer dt 770 pro 88th anivessary edition L/E http://jaben.com.hk/ProductView.asp?ID=759&SortID=207
= 270$
Hifiman HE-300= 335$
Ultrasone HIFI 2400= 316$

so preety much these are the price i can get.. cheapest.. new ones ( i do not like owning 2nd hand items)
so in your opinion which 1 would be the bang of the buck ? and would also suit me the best!( if u forgotten my music genre check the above post/previous)

the dt 770 pros and 880 dt i only can get it (32Ω,250Ω,600Ω) and the limited edition's 770 pro i can get only 32Ω.

I personally felt that the design of the dt 770/880 are abit ugly ( no offence man, i prefer the M50 design the most) but if they are worth it( based on the price i stated) i would probably grab it over the M50/hifiman/ultrasone.

As i've said, i do want 50%bass and also 50%clarity. and also would like to feel 'natural' towards the sound.. i hope to feel like that the music is coming towards me 360degree, as if im in a concert but only me at the concert (LOL!). I would not want to feel that i've been reminded that i have my headphones on ( so its like a typical 2 sound coming from ur left earpads and also right earpads).. so yea... ( and i cant get Fiio in hongkong.. or is there any shops i can get it from? cant seem to find it in Jaben)

Thank you very much! im very sorry if i did bothered any of u . :-) have a great day.

Get the Anniversary DT770. A review in headfonia had praised it immensely and compares it to the more high end tesla lineup by Beyerdynamic.
www.headfonia.com/the-beyerdynamic-we-love-dt770-anniversary-edition/

Its also a limited edition, if I were you I would grab it as soon as I could.

Also since you want it to sound 360 degree and like in a live performance, you're in luck. The review mentioned that the soundstage and 3D imaging is better than the DT770 and DT880.

I would highly recommend JVC HA-S500. Foldable and deep bass + subbass. Efficient and low impedance so can run straight from pc or phone without the need of any amps.

Last time I tried my friend's HD202 it had awful distortion and clipping. IDK whether its the headphones or the source.

if both my player and system volume is max out (pc) and the headphones is still at a reasonable listening volume does it mean i need to amp it??
*

Yes, could be. My previous headphones was like that too. But don't expect night and day differences.

But how about the comfort of it? Hmm..
*

It's not supposed to be comfortable because it was designed mainly for DJs in loud environments. DJ headphones like this, the ATH PRO700MK2, etc, they have strong clamps. I suggest you try it out first before buying it to see whether you can tolerate the clamp force or not.

lol bro

if its design for dj, they should be comfortable right since they have to use it for a period of time, i know la they will keep taking it out tongue.gif
*

I understand the logic behind your thinking, but it's just designed that way. Tight clamping helps a lot in isolating outside noise when you're inside a club with monitor speakers blasting full force to your face. You need the clamp to hear the music from inside your headphones. Comfort has to be sacrificed.
