i just realized that after pump fuel, the average meter for fuel (l/100km) will be reset back.is it normal?
*
i believe so is the case. it was about 10L/100km when i went to fill in fuel. after refuel, it shows 7.6L/100km (2.0sx) and then steadily climbed up frmo there. so far have only refueled once, so i can only quote one case.

anyone else can confirm if it does indeed resets to lowest consumption?

as i start writting now, it's about 72 hours since i drove my car from the showroom. it has been a long journey from deciding which car to buy, falling in love with forte and getting my hands on the beauty.

though i did fair amount of reading and asking questions in this forum, i never thought that i would end up buying a car (a huge commitment) from a total stranger online (turns out to be an owner/director of a 3s KIA outlet in KL). since my journey that lead to the purchase started here, i'd like to share my experience with all, so that it maybe useful to potential forte owners and also to let previous owners to revisit their own journey owning a virgin kia forte laugh.gif

after doing a couple of calls and visits to kia sales branches and authorized dealers in KL, i was still searching for a better deal. one could only know so much when doing own scouting as there are so many outlets out there, so i decided to ask fellow fortezens in this forum if they know any good deals. from the survey that i did, the "seri kembangan" outlet won the majority vote. at the same time, i got an inbox message from Buydirect a.k.a KS Loh with his deal offer. i was pleasantly surprised with his eagerness to serve potential car owners (plus point 1), a far cry from many SA out there who ignore you when you walk into the showroom, arrogant, rude and lazy (asked T brand Dugong car SA for test drive within the week and left my number with him, not only he didn't arrange it, but had the nerve to ask me if i want to buy the car after 3 months has passed!).

when i saw his message, i knew he offered a no nonsese deal, unlike others out there who throw you a bone and then you get a little bit more when you haggle and thats it. Buydirect's deal instantly put all other deals to shame (plus point 2). you can also choose to what freebies you want and turn the ones you don't need into cash rebate, tailored to your own needs (plus point 3, freebies/cash rebate customization). i did a check on him and he turns out to be the owner/director of 3s KIA outlet from seri kembangan, the outlet who many recommended. as fate would have it, one of my friend bought a forte koup (bryan the pilot) from him too because of his good deal.

my nature is always skeptical and i hardly trust anyone (because many sellers, traders, politicans will promise you the sun and the moon before anything and then disappear without a trace after they benefit from you). my girlfriend and i paid a visit to see the outlet with my own eyes, see Buydirect personally and with the intention to test drive both 1.6 and 2.0. went there with the help of google map, had to make two rounds around that area and it brought me to someone's house! turns out the information in google map was wrong (newbies take note) and the direction to the outlet (actually passedby just now but didn't see coz was following google map) was sorted out after i made a call to Buydirect.

first impression when we saw him is that he seems to be quite a decent, polite and soft spoken guy. i printed out his deal offer from online and brought it along with me (just incase). he reaffirmed the deal and i asked if i could do a test drive right there and then. much to my delight, there were ready test drive cars (1.6 & 2.0) available and went for test drive without the need to wait at all (plus point 4). sadly, i couldn't test out the full potential of the car due to the road conditons and location, but there's nothing can be done about that (recommend potential buyers to ask naza kia for test drive and if possible drive around your house/daily commute route so you can feel the difference <forte vs currently owned car> ). i tried with 1.6 first and could really feel the difference when i drove 2.0. the moment i sat down on the leather seats, it was such comfortable feeling compared to 1.6 (though you can ask Buydirect to upgrade your 1.6 to leather seats for a charge) and the power response was better too. i took sharp turns and put the car to test with what available condition, Buydirect was sitting behind and keep asking me to be careful tongue.gif i apologize if i scared you. managed to return both cars without a scratch biggrin.gif

i decided to take 2.0, immediately placed my booking. however, Buydirect told me that the colour of my choice is out of stock nation wide and gave me option to wait or to take available color. available color i can take home a few days after loan approval, my color choice have to wait for the naza factory to produce them which i will have to wait some time (Buydirect didn't give exact date when i can get it from factory). (plus point 5 for being honest. instead of trying to take my booking fee and promise fast car delivery <because nobody can tell you exact date when you can get the car from the factory!>, he chose to tell me the truth of the situation). i wasn't in a rush to get a car, opt for my colour choice and paid the booking fee.

continue later, now break for dinner with my girl. it would be her first time seeing the car because i told her my loan was not approved and actually asked her lets go see second hand car tomorrow lol. i just wanted to surprise her. non of my family or my best friend knew about my new car until it was right infront of them! surprised my family and let my actions to do the talking smile.gif

The mud flaps I installed last week really helpful. No more dirty splash to my doors  rclxms.gif

is it confirmed that we can't install mud flaps if we have bodykit installed? on the second day that i got the car, i travelled to surprise my family (they live in another state). last quater of the journey, on a long stretch of road, the traffic came to a standstill, turns out they were tar-ing the road, i was so worried my car would have tar stains on the body sad.gif good thing they finished the job and did it well so not a single stain laugh.gif

guys, anyone know a good workshop to repair our cars after accident? made a trip to malacca yesterday and one inexperienced young chap bang my car from behind. damage to the bonnet, bumper and left side of the car. went to make police report and found out that 50 to 60 accident cases daily on weekends and mostly malaccans bang outsiders, not the other way around - which i thought was the case and is a surprise to hear that because i stayed in malacca for two years before. (no offense to malaccans, there are good drivers as well).

i made a call to zurich (the default insurer) to ask them for panel workshop, told me to call in tomorrow instead :/ need to find someone that can do an excellent job and claim from young chap's insurance company.

Thank you for the excellent story nemurus. I am too thinking about geting a Forte 2.0. I wonder if you had test drove the 1.6 before you got your 2.0? I love the car but the performance wise for the 1.6 comparing to Preve which I test drove before is a bit dissapointing. Preve has a bit more kick. I just wondering how the 2.0 fair compare to the 1.6 of Forte. According to the salesman there are no 2.0 test drive car..  so I can only test drive the 1.6.
*
there are 2.0 test drive cars. im not sure about others but buydirect arranged test drive 1.6 and 2.0 back to back without the need to wait. do test 2.0 before you buy forte and then compare. otherwise you might end up regreting. i ended up getting a 2.0.

I wonder why nobody bought the diamond silver Forte? I realized most choose to get the solid white, which is pretty. But the diamond silver requires less washing tongue.gif
*
white was my first choice, for months been thinking about it but in the end i bought bright silver (some call it diamod silver). 1st is because i have busy schedule so can't wash frequent enough (unable to drop for wash too). 2nd is because white is too common. 3rd, white requires higher paint maintaince cost and lastly, for me, white is too "pretty" (anyone else feel that way??)

why turn off passanger side airbag, you won't know when you will get involved in an accident, don't leave life to chance just to save some money. but just out of curiousity, is the turn off switch is the 'off/on' type? whereby you can turn on the side airbag when you have a side passanger?

QUOTE(supercolossal @ Oct 9 2012, 02:35 PM)
I plan to put a child seat in front and some say airbag is not safe for children.
Some cars have sensors to turn off the airbag based on the weight seated on the front seat for the same reason.
*
yes, airbag is not safe for baby/children who are seated in child seat with the type that has the baby facing the seat. it is published in the car owner's manual. please have a read.

My 2 month old bright silver baby got scratched recently by kids on bicycle. There is a 6 inch line on the right hand side at the back of the car. Luckily it is not noticeable from far. But nearby you can see a line. Tried to polish the thing, cannot remove it. use finger to feel it, can feel something but not too deep.

Wondering if sending this to Waxson, PPS or Siera Glow, can hide the scratch or not. Any advice?

my 2 weeks old bright silver baby got hit recently by a teenage kid on car. there is a huge ugly sight on the left hand side at the back of the car. unluckily, it is noticeable from space. but nearby you can see clearer. tried to cover with canvas, cannot remove it. use finger to feel it, can feel something cutting my heart deep deep.

for my case, bumper broken, reverse sensor broken, trunk lid damaged, side body dented, brake and signal lights broken. estimate 6k repair. to claim third party succesfully have to wait two weeks for 'keputusan kes' from traffic police. i haven't even pop my car virginity (1k km), already like this.

bro, have you consider using 'scratch remover' or the 'same colour scratch refill pen'. i think you can find the info in lyn, if not head over to myforteclub. doesn't cost you much...

also prior to the trip, i checked my car condition. went to pump 220 to the car tyres but pump indicated 260 on all four tyres. it's not new as i've read about it somewhere before. not sure why stock tyres are filled with 260. to new car owners, do inflate (or deflate in this case) your tyres to the recommended pressure. unless other pressure settings are proven to be economical (at your own risk)

check your sunglass compartment, mine the sound come from there after, went to service center several time they check the passenger door, side dashboard etc they say kawtim but still got sound, decide to live with it. 1 bright day i decide to take the sunglass while the sound is ther and puff the sound is gone when the compartment was opened. try several time after that and confirm it was the source.  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

i'm new here, being driving forte for 1 year & months already, no mod done on the 1.6sx 6spd..  just change the rims to polish one (due to jatuh lubang several time)...
*
i also kena with the rattling sound, but luckily i realized that it's from my sunglasses.

about 3 weeks into owning the car, the infamous 'lalat' sound coming from the driver side seat belt next to the door...
