I need some advise on my room electric point..

Can we use a plug socket point and share it with 1hp aircond and add more 3 plug socket point?
Is the electricity enough? The 3 plug socket is like for a laptop , phone charger and maybe a table lamp...

Please advise me thank you... smile.gif

U wanna burn down your house and trip everything, then go ahead. The one plug itself is already enough for air cond, u can share with a computer or a charger, thats fine but dont over do it.

First you need to make sure that the circuit to your room in single circuit. Which mean it doesnt share the same circuit with another room. To test this, turn on the table lamp you said just now, and switch off the Miniature Circuit Breaker 1 by 1. The rating current for socket\power circuit should be 15A or 16A. If the lamp turn off, check for socket outlet from another room to see if the circuit are shared or not. If its single ..... yes you can share those appliances you said with your 1HP Air Cond. 1 HP AC only use max of 6A. Yes you can. In fact that im using Desktop, 1 HP AC, PS3 + LCD TV from a single circuit. I already make sure it does not exceed 15A from the rated MCB by using a device called Clamp Meter to measure the current usage from the circuit. Thing you should avoid should be the adaptor where you can hook up multiple socket to it.

^ most sensible reply so far in /k/

Actually, for a room in a standard house, it comes from a single fuse, if traced to the fuse box. Only single pair of wiring from fuse box into room, then splice it out. Of course it is hidden inside the wall, so most people assume not the same circuit.

My room aircond is 1 or 1.5hp. Tap from the wall socket. Wall socket also tap into stand-fan and charger. Sometimes plug in laptop also. I'm still alive.

FYI, my aircond power plug is not those 15A round pegs. Mine is standard 13A square pegs, with a 13A fuse inside. So far after so many years, the 13A fuse burned once only, during load when kicking on the compressor.

Therefore, should be alright.

Just for comparison, some people think living room, split the wall plug into 3 is safer than using those extension cord (of course with thick cable, not those el-cheapo thin cables). But in fact, what the electrician is doing for RM75 per point (more expensive now or not ?) is basically just extend the power from the next socket.

Next time, you try ask the electrician the cost to pull separate pair of wire + fuse from fusebox.

Just make sure all the end termination\screws with the cables are properly tightened. Loose screw could contribute to many bad things. Make sure he use 2.5mm cables. You should be fine.
