Hey all,

I'm planning to update my firmware from stock to this one
I9300OXABLG8 (UK)

Just want to confirm the file size is about 770MB? And there no harm to install a UK firmware on Malaysian phone right? smile.gif

need to extract it into .tarmd5 format
then flash via odin
yes no harm

I'm getting the .zip file from Sammobile now. Was expecting the size to be quite small. Didn't expect it to be more than 700MB shocking.gif

When you say extract into .tarmd5 format, how do I do that? Do I just unzip the file and locate the .tarmd5 file?
I've got the ODIN software redi.

Where did you get the SP from? Am thinking of changing mine...getting tired of the SGP HD Flex. Screen looks a bit funny with the orange peel effect biggrin.gif

The screen kinda looks like the skin of an orange tongue.gif
They say its standard for wet application SP.

Added on August 4, 2012, 11:36 pmAny advice if I can change the outlook of the email screen? Default is black right? Can I change the color or theme on a stock phone?

Just completed updating my stock firmware to the UK firmware.
Any glaring changes that I can look for? smile.gif

Heh...wasn't that hard to flash using ODIN. I was quite worried actually to flash...was hoping to get the OTA biggrin.gif

yeah you just lost your local search feature  rolleyes.gif  rolleyes.gif

stock is not necessarily good... my advise use wanamlite or other rom that use as close to stock, but without the bad bits  nod.gif (wanamlite added back the local search feature missing from the official)
*
Hrmm...can you explain what you mean by 'local search feature'?

Don't dare to use custom ROM yet...still very new on the smartphone platform. Maybe after a few months using and getting familiar to the system tongue.gif
Any advantage in using wanamlite against stock ROM?

To those people who purchased the Spigen SGP Steinheil Curved Crystal screen protector for S3, any updates so far?

The orange peel effect on my existing flexHD is killing me cry.gif
*
You too bro? I'm getting the same feeling with my phone. Kinda getting annoyed with the sticky feeling of my SGP Flex rather than the orange peel. The screen isn't as smooth as the original screen sweat.gif

It's not THAT bad. Clarity is excellent (screen clarity is my #1 priority).
I just hate the fact that I could have been using the Curved Crystal SP now and say bye-bye to the orange peel effect of the flexHD.. if only SGP didn't delay the item last minute cry.gif
*
Clarity is good. Almost as good as a naked screen. Only complaint from me is that the screen isn't smooth as the original screen. Also it seems to collect fingerprints quite easily doh.gif

Where did you place your order for the Curved Crystal? Online? How much and when is the expected delivery date?

I bought this too, but have yet to receive the item due to delay.

Here's a video i found from SGP's youtube channel
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5q76SBrKgGI
*
Did you read one of the comments in the video. Apparently the user managed to scratch the SP using the squeegee given rclxub.gif
Either the user is very rough or the SP is very thin.

Let us know when you've received your SP and installed it. Want an unbiased review biggrin.gif

this flip down case should be better.

user posted image

prefer flip downwards rather than sidewards.
*
I've been using side flip cases and it is quite hard to type on the phone. Unless you flip the cover all the way back tongue.gif
One advantage of the side flip cover is you can have the cover closed while answering a call. Your screen wont get dirty that way biggrin.gif

Am planning to get a flip down case though...would be easier to type on the screen (I think sweat.gif )

I just installed Sygic, but after that it requires me to download another 283MB worth of data. When I get disconnected in between it will need to restart all over again.
*
Just want to ask, the sygic navigation on play store is the 14 day trial version right? What happens after 14 days? Do I need to pay to use or are some features disabled?

How much is the app if I need to pay?

Congrats dude... I jumped ship from N95 to the S3. It's an awesome experience so far biggrin.gif

Btw, anyone can recommend any good calendar widgets? I'm looking for something that will display a summary of your appointments for the next few days. The stock widget on the phone is good but the size is kinda small tongue.gif

Guys, where do you normally purchase your SGP stuff from? Direct from the SGP website or through ebay or something? How's the payment method?

I'm guessing it's quite secure right? tongue.gif

Any recommendations for app to open and edit documents? Mainly word, powerpoint and excel.

I saw smart office 2 in the Samsung app store. Is it any good? Or is there anything else which is better?

I use Kingsoft Office. I have uninstalled Smart Office and Smart Office 2.

QUOTE(Arool @ Aug 12 2012, 09:24 PM)
Yeah, Kingsoft office is surprisingly good. Even better than polaris office & it's free.
*
Thanks for the advice. I searched for kingsoft on play store and found 2 versions. The normal one and the international one. Funny thing though the international version size is smaller than the normal version.

Which one did you guys download?
