that's nonsense. the batteries in modern mobile phones nowadays are much more flexible in terms of charging time and such.

It's up to you to believe it or not, but i did not follow that and my battery is still perfectly fine.

err at least need to show pic what icon, then we can say what icon 

any phone also i suggest to use case, not because of it will break, more to because it will calar.... it can have platinum body or carved from alien metal, it will get scratches and dent if you drop it

about the icon, did you turn on your notification? (drop down notification bar, and find the notification toggle, click it)

Try drag the notification shade down. U can see it is for software update.

Tap on it, let it run the check & it will gone for good. Or you can simply drag the notification to left or right to dismiss it.

Sometimes that icon will pop up on newly bought S 3. Juz to remind u to check if there is any update available. For my case, it check n no update available. Dont worry, juz clear it from notification shade will do.

cause screen off for a while it will go deep sleep, wake up takes some slight delay, but not 5 second long

I mean ringtones & notification I want to use my own music. Not the tone that came from manufacturer.  I don't see and function that allow me to change. Do I have to root the phone

to choose ringtones, the easiest way is

go to your stock music player

play the song you wanna choose as ringtone

press left soft key

choose set as

then theres a list of  phone ringtone/caller ringtone/alarm tone.
