guys, if i root and put custom rom to my phone, will it wipe my phone? do i need to backup everything?

im a lil dissapointed with the nexus camera. i was first overjoyed when it says zero shutter lag. yes it's as fast as lightning but the quality is not as good as other camera apps.
i tried taking photos on camera zoom FX, camera 360 and stock JB camera, the poorest quality is the stock camera and the highest quality is camera zoom FX. anyone agrees with me?  |

guys, how to change the number of homescreens ah? im running jelly bean. i know last time gingerbread you can pinch and edit the number of homescreen. but then now i can't.
