Guys, I need a help. How do we accurately calculate the interests on FDs?

((interests rate% / 100) x money placed / 12) = monthly interests.

How do I calculate daily interests rate? I think need to put 365 days someway in between the formula but I do not know where. sad.gif

*  Normally I would just sign when asked with a simple check but after following this thread, decided to check the interest calculation form which I have to sign (BR has a different work flow than other banks). Noted that something was not right with their calculated interest as I expected compound interest for the 2 years. Asked the lady whether their FD was compound interest type. Gave me the impression that she does not know what is compound interest. Decided to accept the non-compounded interest. They did not state that it is compound interest anyway.
*
Hi plumberly. Any difference with this section? Is compounded interests common for long deposits? I do not remember that funds will be compounded unless it reaches maturity date.

Hm, after reading your post. I am also thinking placing under BR lah. Next month maturity. Do we need to open a savings account for it? Can we uplift at any BR branch after maturity date?

Bro, the UOB Promo still on since it was just revised on 1st October. Actually, based on previous promos, UOB promoes usually runs until the date they announced. They may change the rates up or down and they have been offering FD promo rates continuously for the past 2 years without fail.

And before you go to the bank, you can always call your local branch to reconfirm.

Can confirm that the UOB promo is still available. Just deposited today. biggrin.gif

I didnt ask the detail. I saw the notice on the counter at Sg. Nibong Penang branch. It just stated effective 19 Nov 2012, RM50 will be charged for RM10,000 cash deposit. I guessed the branch is encouraging cashless transaction and probably applies to all transactions.

The bank is getting from bad to worse. Last 2 mths they did not credit interest to my wise account which bearing 3% monthly interest. I called up and they said system recorded wrong account type.they took more than a week to credit the interest back to my acc. If i did not check, what happen then? Thinking to move all my fund to other bank then, thought it did not bother them at all.

Bloody blood sucker. I notice that this bank and also Hong Leong charges unreasonably for their administrative fee.

What is the fastest and cheapest way to transfer RM30k lets say from UOB Bank to CIMB Bank? Other than physical cash transaction? Thanks.

Past few pages we have been discussing about it, not really good.

So far the best new promotion for 2013 seems to be MBSB, MACH, OCBC Bonus Saver.
*
Damn disappointed with MBSB Malacca branch. The branch looks dated and run down. No officers / staffs to serve the customers. Was greeted by a security guard and was told to wait. Left the branch after waiting for 10minutes. Nobody came to serve. doh.gif

Probably migrated to Australia. His few last blog post mentioned how he enjoyed the lifestyle of Australia.

Hi guys, I just got back and need to go renew some of my FDs and looking at UOB 3.65% for 9 months. Any step up FD giving better rates offered by commercial banks that do not require us to deposit into savings?

I am not going for split promo anymore.
*
Just placed with UOB Malacca branch. Transaction was super fast. Good service.

Don't dare to place too much with BR. To mitigate the risk.
