QUOTE(MNet @ Dec 20 2012, 09:10 PM) put in 50k then when can take out all money? The 50k will be earmarked for three (3) months from the date of the deposit placement. Should you withdraw any part of the earmarked amount prior to the expiry of the (3) months Tenure, UOBM reserves the right to deduct RM125 for the gift. If the 24-karat Gold-plated Snake Figurine is only worth RM125, I would rather go for the 3-month Fortune FD instead.

QUOTE(talexeh @ Jan 10 2013, 07:29 PM) Thanks for taking the effort in typing all those out. Just an example to confirm what I udnerstood: I have RM11K in Bank A. Today, I withdraw RM10K out from Bank A. 3 days later, I bring the said RM10K to Bank A again to register myself for the FD promotion. Is this considered eligible? If no, is there a certain time frame when the said RM10K becomes "eligible"? Yes you are eligible. You withdrew RM11k out from Bank A and deposited your fund into another bank (Bank B), subsequently you return with a cheque from Bank B to Bank A again to participate in the FD Promo, the bank would consider it as a fresh fund. Everyone is doing that including myself. P/s There is no time frame but make sure the fund in Bank B is available. This post has been edited by nomen: Jan 10 2013, 11:00 PM

QUOTE(talexeh @ Jan 10 2013, 11:37 PM) Ahh... that makes sense. I guess it's much safer to bring a cheque that bears the name of Bank B rather than bringing the whole stack of cash. Thanks again for the enlightenment! You are welcome, this is what this thread is for. You need to issue the cheque in your own name. You may either issue your own personal cheque from your own current account or ask Bank B to prepare a Cashier's Order which you have to pay a certain amount based on Bank B's charges, please enquire.

QUOTE(ChipZ @ Jan 11 2013, 12:04 AM) I am new to FD but I would like to but a certain amount of money to put as FD. I wont be using this money so I can put over a long duration. Which one would give the highest interest rate? I heard Bank Rakyat 4% is very high but some might say it is not really reliable? How does it fare compared to the current highest 3.6% from AffinBank? There is a drawback for Bank Rakyat as it is not PIDM (Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia) protected. Hong Leong is also offering up to 4% p.a. for the 12 months tenure and it is a PIDM member institution. Please do read back this thread for earlier discussions and feedback.

QUOTE(HJebat @ Jan 11 2013, 10:22 AM) If I'm not mistaken, Hong Leong Bank is currently offering one of the lowest FD rate for 12 months tenure: 3.1%. When did you get 4% p.a.? It is an online FD Promotion from now till 7 March 2013, if you are interested here is the site: https://www.machbyhongleongbank.com/promo/mach-fixed-deposit

Hong Leong's FD at 4.18% p.a. for 12 months looks good..... but the only drawback is the meager earnings for the 20% in CASA which would be earmarked for 4 months Is anyone here going for it?

QUOTE(ronnie @ Feb 1 2013, 10:49 PM) OCBC Cheque --> MBB --> MBB Cheque --> OCBC Bonus Savers Not too sure I can re-open in such a short period. I am not sure about OCBC, but as far as I know some banks like MBB will not allow you to re-open the same savings account once you have closed it with the same MBB branch. I think you should perhaps give OCBC a call before going back there. PS Coincidentally my FD will be due on 8 Feb (before the long CNY weekend) so it is not possible to IBG to MBB and return the next working day, hence it is a miss opportunity. QUOTE(Gen-X @ Feb 22 2013, 03:19 PM) are you in Penang? gsc also confirmed he was charge RM0.15 only. But some of us here outside Penang are imposed RM2.15 per cheque. Welcome back boss! It is confirmed that UOB is charging only RM0.15 for FD withdrawal cheque, whereas at OCBC it is FOC. There was once I even asked OCBC to split my withdrawal amount into two cheques and still no charge.
