There are two types of free gifts:-

1. When opening Premier Account - If there is free gift on offer which has to be ask/nego before opening.

Now I learn this...Thanks..
But asking for free gift first will make me look like a small greedy person..  biggrin.gif

Anyway, to me, this RM did not know how to handling thing in a proper way.
She needs to look at the situation mah..
Why offer a free gift to customer is so difficult..?

2. On recomending new Premier Account Holders - Cash Vouchers

Understood..Thanks

Yup must have thick skin  brows.gif
*
This has nothing to do with "thick face skin" or "thin face skin"..

As a successful human being, we always say that we should know "DO"... biggrin.gif

For example, if we go out for a meal, I pay for meal, if you still expect me
to pay for drink, then you do not know "DO" lah...

For common sense, we do not need to speak it out, we should know what we are supposed to do next...

No charge for checks from MBSB and Bank Rakyat:

Uplift FD to a check from MBSB, the check is free. MBSB is using May Bank check. Maximum amount per check is RM 50K. For example, if you withdrawl RM 55K, you will get 2 checks.

Uplift FD to a check from Bank Rakyat, the check is free, the check is printed with Bank Mualamat Bank logo on top and Bank Rakyat logo on bottom.

HSBC in Taman Maluri will give a diary book if sign-up for their
3 month 5% FD (not premier account) for 3 months term which
will end this month.

The problem is very hard to find parking there, but HSBC provides
3 to 4 parking lots in front of their office for their premier customers.

One of the RMs there is quite friendly, helpful and attractive... biggrin.gif

But I did not sign-up.... sad.gif

The gold art worth RM 250 with a certificate...
But this is what the stingy RM told me on the phone last week.
I do not know if this is true or not..?

If you wish, you can call OCBC hotline at 1 300 800 500 to see if this
gold art worth RM 250? And does it come with a certificate?

And if you wish, you can call your OCBC RM to double verify

If this gold art is a tiny gift, then I will not bother to call her, since she
is not willing to call me back. sad.gif

I think the gold art would be a nice piece of decorative item in the house or office; but the question is - who is going to pay you RM250 for it? Maybe if gold goes to USD10K/once, worth while to scrap of the gold, haha.

You can call up ocbc and request to speak to anyone except your RM. Bank will ask you why, tell them want to chamge RM coz didnt get good service.....I did that last time with other bsnk and the RM services improved
*
To change RM.... hmm.gif
A good idea hah... biggrin.gif Thank you

If I change RM, this will make her look bad in front of all her colleagues
and her superior, and perhaps this will jeopardize her career...?

At least she will get a bad record or poor performance record in the company..,
then she will hate me.. sad.gif And I am worried she will take revenge on me since
she has my personal info...

You said you did it last time... biggrin.gif ...since you changed to another RM, how did you know that
the RM service is improved since she/he was fired by you?.? Just curious only....

The RM who gets complaint and changed will be in real deep shit and malu...
too bad to her.. but perhaps she deserves it...

Keen to try BR for the higher rate. But was worried about the non PIDM status. Thus enquired at BR. Reply is as below.

"Kindly be informed that all commercial banks licensed under the Banking and Financial Institutions Act 1989 and all Islamic banks licensed under the Islamic Banking Act 1983, including foreign banks operating in Malaysia, are member institutions of PIDM. Membership is compulsory as provided under Akta Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia. However, Bank Rakyat under Cooperative Bank not compulsory to become PIDM membership because as provided under Development of Financial Institution Act (DAFIA) and Malaysia government. All depositors at Bank Rakyat will be protected by Malaysia government under Ministry of Finance. "

Sounds good enough for me to switch over to BR. Your view ?

I am having the same question and doubt just like yours..... sad.gif

magika,

Noted and thanks.

Just finished reading this V3, took me the whole morning in between things.

Very informative. Did not know that we are entitled to the extra FD interest if the mature date is on the weekend.

I have one FD with HL due on Fri and the counter lady suggested that I wait for a day later to withdraw as it takes some time for their computer system to update. Captain Gen X used Malboro cigarette as the value yardstick but I don't smoke. So I use durain as my value yardstick. Each day lost in FD interest = few good D26 durains  for me. I think I will insist that I get $ on the mature date.

Cheerio.
*
When I withdrew my FD on the exact matured day during weekday from Hong Leong Bank
few weeks ago, the teller said my FD was matured on that day.

Nearly forgot about this 11% FD thing at MB. Saw that one a few weeks ago. Golden retirement related.

0% for the first 5 yrs and 11 % from 6th to 15th years. Interest is yearly after the 5th year at 11% of original principal. Check the web for more infor.

My quick analysis says this package (yearly interest is reinvested separately) is about the same as 5% FD at the end of 15 years.

Wanted to show the comparison chart here but don't know to add the graph.

Food for thought.
*
Why not put in KWSP rather than this 15 years retirement plan?..?
And the rate from KWSP is usually more higher..

The correct way is just called the bank and get the right advice and answer. Here  can only share what is happening with other banks.

In general, you need to bring original cert. if the bank issued certs. Bank like public, Am issued cert..Banks that used statement based then no need the FD slips. Uob, ocbc, hl..operate this way.

So far, my personal experience is Am bank allowed you to withdraw from any branches. I hv tried it within the state but not sure do they allowed throughout the country.
*
Yes, you can withdraw your full amount of money from your FD in any AM Bank branches in Malaysia.
But you need to pass the thumb print identification, and you need to present your FD cert and IC as well.

For example, last time I placed my FD in KL branch, and I withdrew my FD in Penang branch, no problem.

If you withdraw FD from the same branch where you place the FD, then the process of thumb print identification
is not required.

wu ming,

I think you are right. Compounded only on reaching FD maturation when I think back on my other yearly FDs. Thanks.

Do we need to open a savings account for it?     No need. If you wish to use the referral 0.1%, then you need to open a SA there.

Can we uplift at any BR branch after maturity date?     Sorry, I do not know. Check with BR.

BR rate may be higher than the rest BUT you need to consider that BR is not covered under PIDM for your deposit(s).

All the best.
*
If your FD amount reach minimum RM 20K (if I am not mistaken of this minimum RM 20K), you can consider to
open a saving account and request your FD interest to be deposited into your saving account on monthly basis,
or every 2 months basis, or every 3 months basis and etc...

You can withdraw your money/FD interest from your saving account in all Bank Rakyat branches.

I doubt you can uplift FD in all Bank Raykat branches, except the branch where you open your FD account.

Bank Rakyat FD cert is very important for depositor, better keep it in a very safe place.

Should i go and withdraw it and move it to SCB.  hmm.gif
I wonder SCB last week never hit their quota for their hit and run 3.8x% promo, so this week we have 4%
If looking at 3.75 vs. 4.01, you should go for Standard & Chartered Bank

But you need to consider your opportunity cost whether worth it or not to move your fund?
For example, an UOB check will cost you RM 2.15

Say you got RM100K,

Diff between SCB and UOB = 0.26% or RM260/year

Interest for a day in UOB = RM10.27

Yah sure, extra about RM250 (may need to less RM2.15 for banker cheque if you don't have a current account with UOB)

But if RM10K, worthwhile? Your time per hour worth how much? Maybe if you freaking free, want go jalan jalan and no customer to make money from, then ok loh, hahaha.
I agree with you. Captain
FD musical chair needs a lot of cash then can see the significant return..

By the way, why call it FD musical chair? I do not understand it until now... biggrin.gif

*
I remember during the 5% FD promo for 3 months from Standard and Chartered Bank last year,
the guy who helped me to open my FD account also "help" me to open a lot of current and saving
accounts, he said he could earn more bonus on open more customers' current/saving accounts..!!
A bit pissed off and funny on this.. biggrin.gif

Bro, the term came about early this year when sylille used it to describe our actions chasing after higher interest rate. People like us hoping that when our FD matures there is another promotion. Adopted the term since what we are doing is like a game I guess. We do not really know what the banks are offering when our FDs mature and hoping to catch the best promo in town. Good example - SCB current offer, if our funds are only available after next week, there goes our chance.
*
Ha..ha... This FD Musical Chair Game is very useful and important to all serious depositors.

The bank FD promo advertisements are targeted on us.
We must support and react to their FD promo mah... biggrin.gif

I always move my matured FD to other banks with higher rate on time.
Unless if I do not have time, then I will auto renew it for 1 month first loh...
then will move my FD to higher rate as soon as possible... biggrin.gif

I heard Gold Art was sold for RM 1200.00 by a Premier customer.

You can try to ask for free moon cake (4 pieces in a box, from rwgenting brand) from
your RM, I think it should worth around RM 100 or more.

This moon cake is from OCBC, not from RM's own pocket money.

But maybe this offer is depending on the location of the branch..

Cash voucher is very hard to claim lah....

You still cannot find the Gold Art brown color small certificate which stated Gold Art contains real gold?
