OK, noted.
Did you nego for higher than 0.1%?
*
Its 12 month deposit, board rate at 4.01%pa, nego sucessfully increased it to 4.20% pa with 0.1% for introducer thereby effective 12 months 4.30%pa.

Wa lau eh, if I didn't ask, you senyap-senyap la... laugh.gif

Fuh...but really you are a trailblazer! 4.20% for 12-month tenure shocking.gif Respect...respect...haha!

But how is it possible that your incentive rate as an introducer was considered as an FD rate? Aren't the 0.1% suppose to be credited into your SA?

Mine was credited into SA.
*
Ya, I considered it as FD rate because at the end of the day what matters is the returns nothing else . You can name it as what also does not matter, cashback , incentive and the likes. What really matters is the returns, so the same goes for banks or financial instituition, not really looking at quality of service provided, for musical chair players , safe good returns are above everything else, Premier or Private Banking status is of no importance either.

Regarding the credit into SA, my total AUM interest is also credited into SA monthly, and will be withdrawn to compund it further.

You da man! (I assume la)...I reckon if you go for the >60 month tenure, you'll get 5%.
*
Frankly speaking, I was planning to deposit it into EPF, however I was a bit late or lazy to make a decision, so maybe will deposit it at max RM60k pa later on. Better deposit at EPF than 5 year tenure elsewhere. That where Bro gsc made a wise decision in my opinion.

Yet another unsure payment date, this will be your second one...

I must say for complicated offers I prefer OCBC Combo, on time payment..

Hi, just to update, I called KFH two days ago asking for new FD rates, the CS told me their new offer now is 3.88% from Jan to March 2013.
*
If the interest can be redeposited at 3.88%pa, effective return will be 4.03%.

Magika,

Curious to know how did you get the 0.1% for the "introducer" ? Was it "new" account opened in the same BR branch ? Or was it new account in another BR branch ?

Thanks !
*
Actually I was also curious on how the Manager can promise me extra 0.1%. On collecting my FD cert, the Manager was quite embarassed to inform me that HQ has rejected the extra. Ha..ha nevermind no extra as all along I have already doubt it.
I was waiting to see who really figured it out. Question everything ... you are good..

Just wanna see BR's threshold... laugh.gif
*
Its 4.20% pa , no introducer as I have history with BR. Introducer can get only once.
Will be testing BR threshold again somewhere April or May, he..he..

Well, you have been making new "highs" on BR ! I will be going to BR tomorrow and hoping to make the 4.2%. Only got the 4.06% last time.

Thanks !
*
Why not try for more since asking 4.20% entails a request to BR Hq?
Make new high lah..

Wow, you are quoting a figure of 300k.

Magika, for the 4.2%, was your amount higher or lower than that ? Sorry for being too direct.
*
That one has been quoting that figure for sometime. Musical Chair players will not delay their deposit even for more than a day as 300k x 4% /365= RM32.87 per day.
Dont trust everything you read...

I have spent some time reviewing my Fixed Deposits for the Year 2012 and am glad to say all my deposits gave me returns of between 4.00% - 5.00% pa for that year. Prior to that, I was only receiving between 2.85% to 3.00% pa. This is due to my own apathy and also due to sentiment that FD does not generate much return. It was only in beginning of 2012 that I started seriously calculating and scouting for better rates and thanks to this forum, I did good for the year 2012. I would also like to mention that at the end of the year what matter most is the returns. Like most people generally, I used to deposit and forget at Maybank (safest bank in Malaysia) which gives a pittiance around 2.85% pa to 3.2x% pa. Banks like that are capitalising on depositors conservative sentiment. In all the years being conservative has made me a loser in terms of yearly returns (its quite a large sum ). So I will say to all , at the end of the day, total returns matter the most. Ha..haa...

Just curious, why do you limit your FD tenure to a 12-month max & won't go for a longer term?

You did mention before that you'd rather put your money in EPF for long term placement, but what about, say 2 or 5 years tenure? Does that consider as long term to you (in terms of FD placement)?

Would like to explore & see things from your perspective brows.gif
*
As I have previously mentioned, longer terms FD might as well deposit in EPF as historically it has been paying above even 5 year deposit FD rate. This few years maybe I have some other things going so just take a year deposit will do. Thats the longest term in my plan that I can plan.

OK, update you guys. I was in BR on 21/1. Negotiate with the ABM in the morning. He claimed that only if amount is >500k, can get 4.11% (though can negotiate if the amount is lower). I asked for 4.25%, he said not possible with the amount I mentioned. So he said will try 4.2% but need HQ approval. The branch manager also made an appearance to meet me.

Looks like 4.01 to 4.06% can be approved by local branch. Going to 4.11% will need their district manager to approve. Above that need HQ to approve.

The ABM called me in the afternoon and said  I was lucky to get the 4.2%. I went in and signed up for the FD. In the subsequent conversation, he said it is the cumulative amt that is being taken into consideration. He said next time if I have "some big" amount, can aim for 4.25%.

But it is not say once you get 4.2%, next time you will get the same % (even for small amt of FD). Everything seems to be open for negotiation in BR.

The above are all referring to 1 year FD rate.

That's all for now.

Waiting for Magika to break into new highs .............................

Cheers !!

Looks like EPF divi returns are quite good even during the worst of times (2002-2003, 2008-2009).
Sum more, it can be compounded over the years... thumbup.gif

Hi BR fans,

Just wanted to check with you a few things:

3. Same teller also told me ONLY placement of 500k & above the rate is negotiable this year. Last year 100K was still possible. Anyone this year can still get more than 4.01% 12 months for 100k without referral?

biggrin.gif

I have been saying that for some time that for uncooperative tellers, just get the brochure for FD where it is listed the person in-charge. Then just use phone to call for better rates. yawn.gif

Went to BR & was told by the officer in charge that :

1. Gifts are given to customers based on the discretion of the bank. Different branch may have different policy. Etc. If I place 50K for a 12-month FD in BR ABC, I'm entitled for an umbrella. Whereelse if I go to BR XYZ with the same placement & tenure, I might be offered 2 towels or 3 Parker pens.

2. There was no CNY dinner ever held by BR at my local branch sad.gif

3. Minimum amount needed to get 4.20% for a 12-month FD placement is RM1 million (calling magika...can help verify this statement? hmm.gif )

4. Premature withdrawal rate for FD is based on the earlier month profit rate table, counted monthly. Etc. If I deposited a 12-month tenure in January & I withdraw it in November, the premature rate is 3.85% (January to November = 10 month period. Since there is no profit rate for 10-month, I will get the rate of the earlier month = 9-month FD rate = 3.85%).
***magika, I noticed this statement contradicts your post regarding premature floor rate for 12-month tenure, which you mentioned is at 2.94%. But so I was toldĀ  rclxub.gif
*
1. Yes gifts are based on bank discretion. Have thick facial skin will help also.
2. Not interested.
3. Changed branch can ah...
4. Who you talk to ? BR office cleaner ? heh..he..
5. ?? got no. 5 meh...

note: if get premature rate like that I will deposit for 61 month so does not matter if i withdraw after 12 months.

note 2: is based on previous month premature rate table or in BR terms something like Pramatang..
