Hi AVFAN what I know PIDM would secure our deposit value if anything happens to our deposit amount below 60K.

Like cooperative Bank , BSN, BR ,MBSB and etc , they are no protected by PIDM , if anything happens to these bank all our deposited value will forfeited, since these bank are protected explicitly and not implicitly ?

60k? tot pidm banks insure up to 250k per person?

i m sure there must be some still giving 3.6% with this and that condition...

i mean there seems to be no major bank w/pidm offering it on a "regular basis", i.e. no condition like must be fresh funds, limit 9 months, bla bla...

i dun have the time to drive around hunting and shifting funds all the time, so for someone like me, 3.4-3.5% is probably the best i can get with little hassle. ok la... better some stuckup ones with 3-3.1% only!!

Greetings guys, I'm a student currently and have planned to put some of my saving in FD. Have done some research and have gathered that hong leong bnk offers 2.9% for 1 month and 2.95% for 2 months. My question here is that the minimum amount to open up a basic FD would be Rm500 right ?

Anyone here aware of the CIMB facebook RM 500k saving circle contest? You guys here can form a team, create a circle and just deposit the money in your cimb bank saving account, by end of March 2013, the circle with highest points will be awarded the RM 500k. Of course, shared among the member in the circle. The more money saved in saving account, highest point earned. Looks like a better deal compared with FD...see cimb facebookhere

Added on December 12, 2012, 3:04 pmaffin bank FD promotion, 4 months at 3.63%. deposit RM 20k-RM 200k, need to keep RM 5k in saving account (interest at 1.9%).
*
i'm interested in affin 4 months FD with 3.63%, after 4 months will it still be the same rate? or it change to normal rate?

I read about it but I want to know if anyone has put their money in MBSB before? How does it work?

Do they accept banker's cheque?
How do we withdraw FD from MBSB? Do they issue a cheque? Is the cheque accepted by other banks ? Any charges for their Cheque? How many days to clear?
*
Yes, MBSB accepts banker's checque, but you have to make a cheque deposit before 4.00pm
in order to get the same day effective of your FD.

You have to bring your FD cert to uplift your FD in MBSB.
So, do not lose your MBSB FD cert, otherwise it will be very troublesome.

MBSB will issue a Maybank cheque at the maximum limit of RM 50K per cheque; for example,
if you withdraw RM 55K, they will give you 2 Maybank cheques, if you withdraw RM 102K, they
will give you 3 Maybank cheques.

MBSB's cheque is as same as banker's cheques from other banks, so far no problem at all.

No charge for their cheque.

It will need around 2 working days to clear the cheques for same local town deposit, it is just like normal.

Even if HSBC gives 10% for the 3rd month, I will still avoid it because after the promotion period, HSBC Premier Banking customers are stuck with board rates. And if one's AUM goes below the minimum, penalty fee comes into play.
