You've punctured, or perforated, your eardrum. That is why I always go to an ENT every three months or so for an ear toilet, that is, the suctioning of wax. I go to Tan Lye Suan at Pantai KL these days, her charges very moderate. Her suctioning machine is quite gentle - she told me she sets it to the lowest. Or you can go see my schoolmate, Chang Chew Ming, on the ground floor there. |

Tan Lye Suan charges me her standard followup consultation fee of $60, and another $4 is some admin fee by the registration counter, so total $64. http://www.pantai.com.my/doctor-profile/?doc=468 Since I see her regularly to clean my ears, she doesn't really charge me for the ear toilet fee, which is actually considered a procedure and under Pantai's rates, should be $200. That was what Asha Gupta, another lady ENT on the same floor, charged me when I went to see her the second time (she waived this fee the first time. I still felt some itchiness and irritation from some remaining wax that first time, so I went back to her after two days for further cleaning.) http://www.pantai.com.my/doctor-profile/?doc=789 If you want to see Tan, you could ask her about her charges first. Note that Tan and the other two ENTs on the 2nd floor are under Pantai's administration, so have to follow their rates. Chang Chew Ming, on the other hand, is at the ground floor on the left wing, where all the doctors are independent, so they have their own rates. http://www.pantai.com.my/doctor-profile/?doc=22 Since he is my schoolmate and have been cleaning my ears for some 10 years, his consultation is $40, ear toilet $40, total $80. If you go to see him, maybe you could explain that you were recommended by me, so he might give you some discount. Remember that first time consultation with private specialists is usually twice that of followup ones. I don't go to see him much these days because his clinic is more in the mornings, with surgery in the afternoons. You should call up first to check if he is around in the clinic if you wish to go in the afternoon. I enquired with the ENT at Kelana Medical Centre once, and he said he charges $120 - 150 for an ear toilet. I suffer from tinnitus (ringing in the ears) , so I don't normally go to GPs for wax cleaning, who will use a syringe filled with water to flush out your ears.
