Will give my first impression at the Audiophiles (UD100) thread.

OMG! I just got this DAC and the performance is simply JAWDROPPING!   

Premilinary testing: Definitely worth every single cent I paid for it. The instrumental separation is so much better now, the treble is definitely better now and much more sparkly! Vocal sound the same but smoother and the soundstage somewhat has widened slightly. Tested with Keane - Everybody's Changing FLAC.

This is when played with foobar2000 -> WASAPI -> UD100 (Ess Sabre E9023 chip) -> Hippo CriCri -> Superlux HD669.

sooo much musical than pcm2704..
it will really shine with quality amp....

Just COD-ed the UD100 My Klipsch GMX 2.1 never sounded better than this! The vocal and high is really very clear. While listening on my Shure SE215, all the background sound from the movie can be heard clearly which I never noticed before. Probably because the floor noise is totally zero, thus any slight sound can be heard clearly. Great product! Sabre is like Ichigo's Bankai. Small in size but densed with great power!

I received mine, now I'm curious how this compares to the hifimediy sabre usb dac. I just found out about that one as well, it looks to be similar to the UD100 but utilizing the Tenor TE7022 USB receiver, which allows for 24/96k output. It also has a LT1763 low noise regulator on board.

OP, I'm curious why you chose to use the TI USB receiver for 16/48 instead of the Tenor's 24/96, shouldn't that allow greater SNR?

plugged it into my Creative T20 and the clarity has improvements. Passed one unit to my friend and he had this to say and I quote " music quite airy. It's like jumping from a C Class into a S Class with Bang & Olufsen. lost some bass but it's alright"

I gotta agree with him, the bass did lose some ummph! as I tried to turn up the bass and not much difference on the T20, played The Beatles on flac using VLC player. What other players would u guys recommend?

My conclusion, if you on a budget like a cheapo like me   it's worth the money.
