Can I use this directly on a Linux-based Raspberry Pi? Or would I need to install Linux drivers for it? If so, are they available somewhere?

QUOTE(gti99 @ Feb 10 2013, 01:28 PM) Hi there, the setup is: macbookpro - ud100 - the national amplifier from aloaudio - headphone. How does this work? Can i directly connect it to my headphone? or have to connect to something like endrenovack's picture which i have no idea what it is. in this case the headphone amplifier actually is used to decrease volume or just make it adjustable. looks like a great complement to the national. e. |

To come back to my own message, after ordering it (delivery time approx. 2 weeks, can't remember exactly when I paid), I received the device last Thursday (28 Feb) and everything works like a charm Now |

Got mine two days ago. It took this little thing more than a month to come! The envelope was “International Dispatched” on Feb. 1 from Pos Malaysia and arrived Chicago on Feb 20; then another ten days passed before it came to my door not far from the NY city! The tracking number did work; you just need to be patient.
Right out of the box it sounded a little boomy and crowded. After an hour or two it became much better. Now it sounds slightly better than my Fiio E10 (as a DAC only): cleaner, wider and tighter. I use it primarily for my phone, although it also works for Windows. It sounds great with my Galaxy S3 and Earsonics SM2 V2! I put a Fiio E6 in between. This amp could be the bottle neck soundwise, but I can’t find another one which is as mini and sounds better. I tried to take the amp off, then I have to turn the volume on the phone very low (about 30%) and I can tell there are some details missing and the bass is a lot weaker, the staging also changes a little. Also need to mention that I have to use EQ 3 (-3 DB) on E6, otherwise it will clip on some tracks. Here are pictures of my setup. The OTG cable is too long (a shorter one is on the way); other than that, it’s pretty neat in my pocket or on my hand. Sorry for the ugly green case: I borrowed a shabby soft case from an old flash drive and tried hard to put it on. Both batteries in my phone and E6 last about 11 hours together in this setting, which is enough for me. They sound so good for less $300 total on the go (not including the phone)! This is the best 50 dollars I spent on audio gears so far. Attached thumbnail(s) |
