The Focals are priced similar to the AKG k550 and the Philips Fidelio L1.
And to me they sound equally as good as the L1 and slightly behind the 550.
With the k550 selling at 1000.. and the L1 and Spirit One at 1300.. in Malaysia.. there is absolutely no competing .. except if one really needs an inline microphone...
I have not tested the K550 but did test the Focal which was available at Isetan. Not that I was interested to buy but was curious to see how it stacked against my Fidelio L1. I must say that the Focal is indeed a bright sounding headphone but a little flat for my taste. The Fidelio IMO is more full sounding, deeper bass and better sound isolation from outside noise. I found the ear pad cushion on the Focal a little smallish and I don't see myself using it comfortably for long hours as compared to the more comfortable Fidelio which has larger ear pads that covers my ears better.
