RIDE YOU, BUGGERS!!! RIDE!!! DON"T DRIVE!!! NO PLACE IS TOO FAR!!! (except when it is really too far away lar, like cameron highlands if you live in KL)

ride to buy chicken lice... (no need parking)
ride home to brush your teeth before you go socializing (no need worry waste petrol going home for small little things)
ride to the flower stall to buy your gf 12 roses... (hope flower petals dun fall on the way back)
ride to pickup your GF, get her a damn bike so she can ride with you to your dating spot as well (so you don't need to pull 50kg of dead weight )
ride to burger kaw kaw stall to eat your romantic dinner
ride to 7-eleven to buy condoms if you've got some action planned that nite (accidents means your dream bike down the drain, don't regret)
ride!!! dammit, ride!!!

ARGHHHH I'm torn between 105 and Tiagra....

The difference in price is almost 1000 Ringgit. Economically, I'd be good with Tiagra since I'm just a beginner but I wouldn't want to be upgrading anytime soon.

So taikors taikors sekalian, I'd like to ask:

- Which would be more feasible in your opinion? 105 or Tiagra? Or maybe SORA

- How much does it cost to go to 105 or Ultegra? In terms of group set as well as other components such as brakes, cassettes, etc.

oh ya, I saw a decent Trigon with carbon frame, Tiagra group set. Around 4k+ but am not so keen since I'm not sure how good quality are they

Not worried about the brand but more concern about the stiffness and the weight of the aluminium.

depends on what you want to do with it... try to borrow a friend's bike to ride if you can so you can get a feel of what you want...

it is cheaper to convert a road bike into a road based hybrid than the other way round....you only need a flatbar, shifter and brake lever... the other way round, road shifter/lever alone can already buy half of your bike...

road based hybrid is cheaper though... a similar polygon road hybrid retails for 1.3k ... their cheapest road bike starts at 1.5k or 1.8k, can't remember...

105, if you can spend a bit then get 105,
tiagra (important 10-speed, not 9-speed), if you can't afford that much,
sora (your choice, just dun regret it in future)

In terms of groupset price. Almost double the price

the focus variado you have to ask sky.live for an honest opinion, i think he owns one...

there is nothing to worry about regarding stiffness in an aluminum bike... they are all the same with only a few % in difference... the only difference is the grade of aluminum they use... and the stiffness comes from their production methods on their frames...

unless you are looking to buy an ultra expensive one like cannondale a caad10 or focus al9.0 ultimate... then there is not going to be much you can feel most of the time..

What brand do you think is nice for <2k. I saw some really nice 2nd hand bikes in bicyclebuysell but my dad says he would only buy if he meet the person or the seller is a trusted one. And I live in Sarawak and most of the sellers are in West Malaysia. So if I were to buy one at a local store, what brand would you recommend.
If you know some trusted sellers in bicyclebuysell pls introduce

From S40 to Foil......that's quite a significant upgrade......kakakaka

I've narrowed down my choices to, if I'm set on the 105 route that is hehe:

Astar: Alloy frame and FULL 105 group set

*roughly 3.8k

Fuji Roubaix 1.3: Pretty much FULL 105 parts, but with no carbon seat post, oh well

*haven't enquired but price shouldn't be too far from 4k

Merida Race Lite 904: Carbon fork, carbon seat post but Tiagra Cassette

*roughly 4.1k

Scott Speedster S20: Similar to Merida but the name sounds nicer to me

*roughly 4.2k

4 bikes, 4 choices. Haven't seen GIANT yet!!!! HAHAHAHAHA

why not you tell us what you have over there and we tell you what we think? no point telling you stuff that you can't get...

the el-cheapo yet still reputable brands will be polygon, merida... scott a bit upscale but like ryan3721 posted... only a RM500 over your budget...
