Hi there,
I'm plannin to get a bicycle trainer to train at home.
Any suggestion? price less than 1k la. hopefully 500 plus can get?
*
You can get the minoura trainer. I forgot the series but you can get the low end model ~ RM5++ - RM7++
QUOTE(butthead @ Sep 10 2012, 10:30 AM)
if you get the 32T.. use your current 11-28T.. don't see any problems except having to turn the barrel adjusters a bit to ensure it shifts up and down smoothly.. it's mostly caused by the slight difference in freewheel positioning and that depending on the difference between both your wheels might cause from slightly laggish shifts or possibly a few gears that might not shift accurately...

Thx bro. Aa suddenly got things to buy for my bike. Not going to upgrade my frame anytime soon, but will upgrade in bits and pieces. Would love to have a new carbon crank too. Compact. Any recommendation? FSA? Budget 1k can get or not? thumbup.gif

if you don't mind the group impurity... SRAM Red is a good consideration.. in fact Force is already a good one... i've seen a couple of shimano equipped bikes running SRAM Red... mostly i think due to needing a BB30 crank which shimano does not have...

That being said, the Red crank has carbon arms and is considerably light... and if you choose Red.. .it comes with blackbox BB i believe... which is ceramic hybrid bearings... crank along is in the region of RM1.2k if i recall correctly.. the GXP BB another couple of hundreds...

it depends on what you plan in your road map.. if you are starting to get itchy and want to upgrade while only maintaining 1 bike... i suggest you stop upgrading and cut your losses now...

most probably your future bike might have stuff like BB30 and things that forces you to forego transferring components from your current bike... and having a complete bike purchase is much more cheaper than getting a frame upgrade...

much like when i plan for the Race Machine... a fully stock SRAM Red Race Machine is priced @ RM15k conservatively... if i built mine from a bare frame with SRAM Force but slightly different component which is no better than the stock one, it passes RM14k and i don't get SRAM Red... if i select back the same Easton cockpit, even worse... SRAM Red will blow it past RM16k easy... even the older pre-2012 ones...

i think most bike shops might have it... but you can check with pedalspot as i see them having couple of models..

call them up and enquire about the model you like before you spend your time going there...

must be LTDL la... they were invited this year... but no mr. french...

itu macam... you ask me go try the un-try-able jer... like go play with transvestite (damn sick ler) and stuff... hahaha... extreme ma..

if wan extreme...i choose jumping off KL tower instead...

800 sihams... that is blardy expensive... it should have a holder for AK47s then... shoot your rivals on sight...

the racebak no only meant for cycling la.. i think it is placed under multisport punya... so, it should be able to run as well because they kept the amount of liquid very minimal to make it more aero and easier to run with...

finally purchased my first road bike, exitway ergo logic 1.5k. i know u guys will say this is so wrong, well i did tried two bikes ones is  alloy frame with carbon fork (volcano brand) with shimano tiagra groupset. i tried on the bike and oh well, i am not comfortable with the handling and the seat, the shop owner already adjust the position to suit my body size but still i feel awkward and not comfortable, the handling was not up to my taste.
Then i tried the exitway ergo logic, when i sat on it, oh my, wat a comfort and the handling yeah, it feel right with my hand. At that time I was like, wat the hell? I paused for a second to decided which bike and i decided it because it is the exitway bike that my body feel comfortable with...did tried to weight yeah, the exitway is abit heavy compared to volcano frame.

And here my journey to the world of cycling start, and saving up for 10 speed groupset, the owner said can trade in and I think it is better for me to learn the charateristic of each part of the bike first before jumping the bandwagon of tiagra, carbon, fulcrum and the likes.

u from Kuching?..do u know of any cycling group or gathering around here in Kuching? I'm looking for a group to join..

i did went to check out the exitway road bike, but way above my budget of Rm1k.. cry.gif cry.gif so i din get it...hopefully some got second hand road bike for sale here in kuching which is below RM1k.. smile.gif

Just checked, the crank alone for Red is 1k+ and force is 800+. You got a point there with the costing. However my roadmap is unclear. Haha. Prolly will get the SL4 down the road but I know not in a very near future.

So while waiting for that day to come, perhaps upgrading bit by bit for a better parts can make that marginal difference..

Btw, if you could make your super climbing machine, what would it be and the specs? Don't say ex5! Haha. Cervelo r5ca?

the BB is another couple hundred bucks... don't forget that... the new 2012 or the old crank?

it will make some difference... that is no denying.. just don't regret spending those money and then later finding it down the drain... jus speaking from my perspective... experimentation is a very painful way in cycling...

money no object... it will be some crap bike that no one has heard of before (some custom low volume german carbon production units like spin)... as miaopurr says...R5CA is too mainstream... it is just another expensive bike...

else, my midlde ground dream bike would be the canyon ultimate CF i think ... or a supersix evo...not to say that the top end Trek Madones or SL3 & SL4 are bad.. but either of them would do me jus fine.. .owning all would be a cool thing...along with a ton of wheel selections sitting there waiting for my abuse...

i don't think there will be an ideal bike in my opinion... the ideal bike is of course one that lets you feel that it is the bike you can bash everyone into a pulp day in day out... not a particular brand or bike, but "the bike"... which is why i kinda stick with watever i can get from my bike shop... but i mix and match stuff and features to what i particularly look for...

so, my reference now is just a simple stiff enough carbon unit with a not so top end group and some bomb proof wheels...the others like cockpit will be a matter of fitting... having money to change out parts just to try them out for fitting will be a plus for me... having to hit it on the spot without having to try them is the killer...
