BrotherHoe, if this is for a final-year project, I advise you to think up of something else. There have been many discussions on this - and the conclusion is that it's too expensive to develop for a FYP.

hehe its not really challenging enough if u know what i mean.
i got sample somewhere but must find it.

u basically need to do some algorythms by yourself. get image, change to blackn white, identify minuts and lastly compare image.

i once did an outsource for it long long time ago offcourse the algo was not mine. Honestly if u are a newbie in programming, high chances u will fail to do this as its very complicating. if u are a seasond programmer and one which drives from interest...then no problem

hmm msian fyp kinda typical...try googling universities out of the country..like aus,uk,us...ull find alot more challenging titles there tat require quite alot of work to do..or u can ask frens tat are overseas...some uni wont let u see the titles..some do..

all those ticketing system..web page thing..auction..carting system is too common hear also sien edi..theres things like security..phising...network stuff...software architecture stuff...not necessary biometrics stuff which is expensive...not to mention lil reference material in ur uni i believe...

i believe that's "thumbnail+yourprogramminglanguage" refers to google for "thumbnail+VB" or "thumbnail+C".

man, i believe the thumbprint thing is kinda outta your league. it is challenging, but not to extent to what u lecturer wanted- challenge the topic. challenging and challenge the topic very the different.

to illustrate, challenging is like how hard u have to google and post to forums to acquire the source code and eventually customised to ur needs.

challenge the topic, on the other hand is, for thumbprint recognition software that your lecturer may grade A for, it must be better than what the industry is offering. or at least containing one feature that is non-present at the moment. or demonstrating how u can fool a standard thumbprint software. now, that is challenging the topic. other words- better the current available system [feature to remove noise or distortion from print as result of dirts on finger], or coming up with something unique [thumbprint recog s/w that can accept any finger's print].

so, if ur lecturer want u to challenge a topic, use Seventh7's idea. improvise on the sdk. find a unique feature that is no present at the moment.

btw, how r u gonna acquire the hardware?
