idle is around 47C, after benchmark become 61C, but palmrest remain cool, cos the HDD is located at the top, the palmrest area is battery I think laugh.gif

Samsung is utterly stupid. It happened to me when I got myself an LED TV which is a new model. It seems that they do not update their F****NG website. vmad.gif

Anyway, hope you could do us a full review. thumbup.gif
BTW, did the laptop come with on-site warranty?
*
Ok ^^ Will try. No have to bring to service centre in case of warranty.

My personal preference would be Navotech (used to be at Landmark but now I think they moved to Danga City Mall (DCM) ) but I don't know if they sell this laptop. I cannot remember the name of the shop that I went to see the laptop but it's also in DCM.

Hello everyone

I just would like to know if anyone here has bought that laptop? Apparently it's quite new and I couldn't find any reviews online so it'd be great if someone can help me here.  I spent some time with it yesterday but I need to know if there's any specific issues with the laptop.

Thanks

check the ultrabook thread

actually did talk about it

btw its fast without ssd to boot. supposedly some trinity thing

the only con for the laptop that i can find
no vga dongle included.

its very good for watching movie and seems to outscore intel hd4k.

U need to enable the fast boot in utilities. after that it will boot damn fast like 1 bar on windows 7. all this with a 5400 rpm 500gb hitachi drive.

It has a wifi 2 mimo. So u will connect for tx,rx at 300mbps. Wifi range average.

the dual core on it is sufficient enouhg for office apps, presentation, movie etc. Gaming personally i dont think so. Samsung has a quite mode that will seriously make the laptop dead silent.

Added on July 31, 2012, 9:26 amcurrent offer is RM1899 with a free microsoft arc mouse worth rm109.

i bought from samsung direct in lyp
and a friend of mine bought in digital mall. the sales guy wanted to give him a logitech mouse so beware. the arc mouse offer is direct from samsung themselves.

warrantty i got the samsung guy to do it for me. same prob as the printer scx3405 . their website doesnt have.

Added on July 31, 2012, 9:32 amlast con. for itunes playback of 720p and 1080p on native quicktime for m4v.

there was stuttering. since vlc had no issue.. this issue has always been motherboard driver for the sata issue. updated to the latest one and then no prob.

btw never off ultrabooks. just close the lid. it will enter a higher level of hibernation thanks to the ulv and cpu states. 2 sec boot up is awesome. and yup it takes around 20 secs from total cold boot. on resume boot ( after long hour it will store all the boot from mem to the hdd) takes about 10 sec.

I did try to search at the ultrabook thread but to no avail. Imma noob.

Thanks very much for your feedbacks. This would be a perfect laptop for me if it has a backlit keyboard but at RM1899/RM1800 one should not complain lol.

Btw what kind of adapter do you need for the VGA to work? Mini-VGA to VGA?

Previous experience always get a notebook approved. U dont want it to fail during presentation in board meetings

So got a hp adapter. Cost rm 150. Got it from hp in lyp.Samsung has but have to order. Rm109 i think. The 530 series comes with and so does my 9 series.

Btw if the bluetooth cannot be disabled with the wifi on. When u use eco mode without wifi and bluetooth. Ure power consumption drops to half. I hit 9 hours the other day doing some office stuff under samsung optimzed setting.
U can check power consumption in samsung utilities

This laptop is cheaper i think cause it doesnt need a ssd to boot. Amd trinity tech takes cares of it.

Oh yeah another con.
The embedded ram inside is 4gb but ure cpu takes 512mb for its gc. So left 3.5gb. It runs in single channel only.
But on. Bright note. Its enough mem actually since its dual core and u wont be running anything mem intensive.
I installed the other 4gb.

9 hours?! Impressive.

I think it's safe to say that for RM1899 there is no better alternative out there, is it? Thin, light and decent performance for normal usage.

Since when does AMD trinity have the fast-boot function that enables it to boot faster compared to a similar Intel powered laptop?

Can anyone provide me a link to some reading on that? Can't seem to find anything on it.

Back on topic, Samsung's screen bezel is real nice. More manufacturers ought to use matte material for the screen bezels instead of glossy and easily scratched plastic mad.gif

have u actually tried googling and reading credible sites like anandtech and not by some silly blog idiot that i wont trust my screwdriver with.

theres actually quite a number of forums been talking about it.

personally i think its something to do with the embedded ram on the board.

hi guys, just bought this ultrabook for 2 days, cost me RM1850 with acrotech mouse (nice looking mouse but i still got a stiff feeling when using it, maybe caz it still new?) so far i must say, this ultrabook is nice to look and firm to hold. Only gonna use it for presentation, and casual watching movie so this will work just fine (got gaming rig already) and for rm1850 i think its quite decent....hope there will be a club for this ultrabook so can learn a tips or two hehehe

My major needs is doing programming, office applications, and web srufing. And I want matte (non reflective) screens.

good multitasking ability is a must as I normally open many programs at one time, whereas my graphics requirement is not too high as those gamers. My budget is 1500 - 2500. My questions are:

1. Would there be big difference between Series 3 & 5?
2. Would there be big difference between Intel & AMD chips used on these Samsungs?
3. Which model would suite me best?
I'm comparing it to Asus N56VZ which has 15'6" Matte screen, only that it's a little pricey at 2600+.

Big thank you to all...

yeah i left out that one, as i only looked at intel cpus. for this samsung + amd combo, besides a short startup time, is it on par with those i5 systems in terms of multitasking performance? off course, games are not included...

Hi, I am working under the Samsung Master Dealer. If there is any question, you can ask me or contact me. And yes, we do provide Samsung laptops at a price cheaper than any of you can get in the market (props to being the Master dealer). smile.gif You guys can call me Mike. I am quite experienced when it comes to Samsung products and Ultrabook is my main sales.
