If currently you are not working offshore, I suggest you just go for it. Get your hands dirty(not always), do some physical works, experience the real time operations and at the end of the day, all your efforts will be paid off. I believe, ME has a bright futute and great career progression either to become mud specialist, or companyman, etc....

Pay wise, I guess for beginners that still dont have the fix rig, you will be throw out to work on the various rigs, and this will might push up more on the allowance that you will get every month.

Which shipyard? IF in Singapore, at least the yearly bonus already boost your total salary. Why not join your client (ship or OnG company)?

So you're a client rep/PMT in the shipyard? I guess you've some allowance on top of the salary. I have a friend working as a PMT with MISC doing ship conversion and new building. As per him, the allowance are quite handsome but depend on the country that are you working in, i.e spore,mmhe,korea etc...
