Age : 23
Job Title : Field Service Engineer
Job Desciption : Provide service, maintenance for chemical instruments at customer sites
Years spent in company : First month, still in probation period
Education: BS degree in chemistry, not engineering.
Location : Penang
Industry : Services
Experience before joining : Fresh grad
salary : RM2200 basic, rm600 fixed allowance every month, RM0.60/km when I travel to customer sites (everyday, sometimes multiple sites per day), meal allowance when customer sites are out of Penang state (rm25 half day, rm50 a day), company phone and touch n go card (strictly for job purposes), 18% incentive of 3 months pay every 3 months if the company hits their target.

For the first month, I am getting a total of ~rm1100 mileage claim and ~rm500 of meal allowance, and according to my colleague, ~rm1200 to ~rm1500 is the average of monthly allowance for mileage and meal.

I know my basic is kinda low but the allowances are pretty decent. Office hours are 8:30 to 6:00, but I am only required at the office every monday at 9am for meeting, once I get my schedule for the week, I am told to go to customer sites from home, without going to office everyday, once work is done (maybe after like 3pm or 4pm), can go home straight, no need to go back to office until 6pm, hence no punch card.

Need help.
Want to take Accounting & Finance coarse. Just After spm 2012.
Want to know the salary with no experiences, 1 year, 2 years n 6 years.

Plz help me up cause I badly wanna know the salary before i jump into that coarse. So, I have strength to go through the coarse full heart .hehe

Thanks.
*
This is the main mistake all fresh grad or ppl before grad makes. You dont earn based on the course you study but based on the job you do. Accounting and finance can be many job like auditor, account exec, accountant, banker, credit card sales, operator, salesman, watever.. So think what you wanna be instead of wat course to take. Also being in a course does not guarantee u a job in that field. Many ppl jump field after their grad cos cant get the job or have interest in other job. Life not so simple

There will be never an end if we keep comparing someone's salary with someone's income. What we will need to know over this subforum is either the pay is stick to the market line or not.

What sort of office job he is working with? Where is the work place?

If you're saying it's kind of less when comparing to people like Charlton, why don't you compare to others which is lower? And I can see there's LOT of people here tend to post their income here if they earn a lot. Or earn quite okay, and those who earn terribly low would rather to say cannot be seen over here. 28 years old with 4k salary, how many of them can get this nowadays in Malaysia?  sweat.gif
*
Yup my fren is do office job. I know cant compare thats why give his situation and ask if he underpay. So u mean he is underpay?

What field is his company into? What position he is now? Office job can be a lot. And where is the office located. If you say it's in Sabah and this 4k can mean a lot.
*
the company is manufacturing and he is executive staff.. just do office thing not like special position accounting or engineer or wat. Not sure the job but exec la. In Penang.

But problem is going to be age 30 soon and got masters summore. 4k not underpay?

since the job is not special, the pay also not special lo....
4k i think pretty average?
*
im not sure but i think the job is not like office boy or wat la. Just that not really those specialize like accountant or doctor that need study many many years. So u think 4k is not underpay? seem like very less la consider the age. Normal ppl around age 30 usually earn average 6-7k right. I dun think my fren can catch up few k in 1 or 2 yrs... most also increment get few hundred bucks

Master has no difference with Degree nowadays and probably you can get slightly higher salary at the starting point. For instance if I am degree holder and work for years under the company and once I get my master I can get increment for about few hundreds, of course depends on company but normally this is how it work.

Education background will help when you are asking for more starting salary but if you're working at ordinary stuffs, you will stick to that level forever.

4K for normal office job is considered a lot. People won't pay you because of your certification and they pay you for what you are able to do for them.
*
Then if like dat no point really to study master right? Example normal ppl come out work age 23. Then start salary fresh grad is 2.4k average. Every increase 10% when reach age 28 is around 3.8k. Plus promotion cos work so long will be around 5k - 6k.

Study master 2 yrs will just come out start salary 3k then no chance promotion cos not enuff working exp and depend on increment maybe reach like my fren 4k. hmm.gif

That is not totally correct.

Certain position require the staff to have specific certification, like MBA. In order to get that position you have to obtain that qualification.

Normally people will go for Master Degree when they want to get higher position, or they want to involve in Education related career, like a lecturer.

Master Degree is relatively useless and not practical especially if it's a Science degree. Unless you can get into the right company or the company needs your research.
*
Ya my fren is sains. Then i think maybe my fren is not clever make choice la. Nasib la haha.. shud work than study masters

Depends on the sector. If you're talking about the banking sector then 4% is considered very low. Usually without promotion should be around 8%. With promotion usually around 10% - 20%.
*
wow if like dat banking sector is like a gold mine?

cos always oso hear they got like 10 months or more bonus every yr and icnrement also 10%...

thinking shud i start switch to banking sector hmm.gif i dun mind even if get freshie position cos it eventually better prospect than my current job

I hope the bubble bursts and all us middle income earners can buy a decent house and keep on to it forever..

There many rich ppl around. Even bubble burst they dont mind holding on to the property. The only affected are the middle income people buying property for investment and still owe the bank.
