Job Title : Technical Lead/Project Manager
Job Desciption : APAC project management/implementation (in-house system), UAT, on site training, 2nd level support, data migration, scripting...
Year in company: 4.5 years
Company : Retail and Service
Industry : Retail and Service
Tenure : permanent
Employment Level : AM
Experience before joining : 4 Years software engineering experience
Salary : Basics RM 6.6K before deduct, 1 month contractual bonus
Education Level: degree

Evolved from a senior executive to now project manager. So i have just got my PMP on July. I know i am underpay for sure. Will probably resign by end of the year as passions is faded away for my current post and sees no purpose and prospect in my current role. Gonna rest for couple of months before working life carry on, or may go freelance.

Just a question, if i am to apply Project manager/management position in the future, any chance if i quote 10K above? Which kinda post should i targeting of?

Kindly advice. thanks.
*
10K is possible with 3 more years of working experience in current company. Best of luck. With the inflation and government setting up a standard of 900 minimum... nobody want to work for 900 nowadays, it will impact the higher income to have higher salary. Just keep on the faith and work hard and smart. thumbup.gif

Wow...i dont think jump from 3k to 10k is possible.maybe i can ask 5k?what do u think? Btw thanks for your info :-)

How much is your current salary? if it's 3k basic and without allowance, I doubt you can get 5k. But if your current salary is 3.5k with allowance or a little bit higher, there is hope that you'll be able to get 5k. icon_rolleyes.gif

I saw some lyn member only 28-30 earn the same salary as you.

Probably you should try find other private company which offer better paid & bonus then stay in government sector for the rest of your career.

Now 6-7k is nothing for a family person. With that salary can't even afford to buy a 500-700k double storey.
*
You're wrong.

With that salary by age 55 of retirement he will have 10k++ plus, with every year increment.

Pension will be half of his salary. Private sector in malaysia salary are still stagnant within 5k - 7k for senior level and has not yet growth to 10k at staff level, unless you are really specialized in a skill set.

He will be earning the same salary scale in private sector as well. I wouldn't quit government unless was offered 15k++ stable, routine and good beneficial job since same like the government and most government work are pretty much a routine job with being a family guy it is a plus.

Can I know which phase that I went wrong? Are you a government servant too? Or desperate to become one?

With current economic, if not try to find a better & higher paid job is that enough?

Most important, why stop yourself at the same level? Life is meaningless without challenge & continuous improvement.

In private sector, only the sky is the limit for salary. Manager in MNC easily can earn 10-20k, director can be any amount that you can think off. Some of my friends become Manager & director in age 30-40 & earning sky high figure.

Never ever under estimate yourself & what you capable, but if you insist to be sit there & do nothing for rest of your life, so be it.
God only help those who help themselves.
*
Relentlessly trying to put words?

Manager n director. You highlight it personally yourself. Did I mention my mum is a Head in a bank? and earns more than what you have mentioned?

It is up to invidual on their likings of challenges. When sky is your limit, how much limit is your limit? Earning example of Bill Gates? Steve Jobs? whistling.gif sweat.gif

Hi all,

Would like to know what salary should I ask for in Singapore as a project engineer with 2 years experience. Current salary is RM4300 and I have a Masters degree.
*
I would possibly give it 5k SGD will be correct estimation, or you can try 7k in malaysia. Pushing the limit of more than 30% although it is not advisable but it is possible with a master.

Job Title : Line Leader
Job Description : Run production line to meet deadline. Prepare all kind of report (quality, after sales, CKD, testing, journalist/tester report/ more). Window person for any contact with Italy HQ
Age : 24
Location: KL
Company: Motorcycle assembly (superbike)
Years spent in company : 1 year (young company)
Tenure : Permanent
Level : Supervisor/Operator (I`m not really sure exactly, offer letter state operator)
Experience before joining : 2 year in supervisory role (Construction + Genting Highland)
Salary : 2000 + OT RM250 MAX
History: RM1500 - RM2000

The history is : I join the company as a Quality Operator (state so in offer letter), but after some time the boss recognize my skill and promote me to handle all thing regarding production and after sales of the bike in production. Now, I`m doing engineer job, all the thing I`m currently doing, for other section (small bike) are done by "engineer" status person. And they do it in a group like, QC one person, production one person, after sales one person. For me, everything is on my shoulder.

From what I know all those engineer receive at least RM2300 a month, with leave on Saturday (I have to work on Saturday). They also get 14day annual leave (me 8day).

So, am I`m underpaid, and un-fairly treated? Yes I know I`m promoted, but does the stress I`m dealing with right now is worth the money I`m paid?
*
Working in Tesco getting paid Rm7.50 per hour above depends on experience. RM7.50 x 8 x 26 days = Rm1560, difference are RM440.

They giving out 14 days AL for full time employment and you might get promoted to Line Leader with basic Rm1800 - RM2300 within 1 to 2 years.

Certain retail outlets with no customer, just duduk goyang kaki most of the times, ada customer baru layan, also getting paid RM1500 - RM2000 nowadays.

Easier routine and relaxing job in Tesco and elsewhere not that much of stress also. I don't consider your job as engineer work, or it is? rclxub.gif

Minimum wage in Malaysia is rm900, you should do something.
*
Unless he gets 700basic + (200 allowance) it is still accountable for 900 minimum wages. But if he doesn't get it, this can be reported to Labour Law of Department of Ministry Malaysia. I can assure U the penalty is quite hefty to the employee.

Not many people are still equipped with this information and some are too shy to talk about it in real life situation.

Report and jump!

A minimum wages of 900 should consist of basic and fixed allowance or either one. Not OT or Commision is applicable. smile.gif

I think you are not that familiar with current market range

An IT person with 2 years experience with either network or server specialization, definitely deserve at least RM3.5k and above, especially when he has CCNP

An IT person with 2 years exp in network or server, deserve 5k, especially he has CCNP(take note it's not CCNA, it's CCNP which is more advance).

3.5k are old market range before the 900 minimum wages implementation

i agree. rm5k no much after pay for house and car loan. Even the hse is below 900sq ft.
*
with 5k can do alot of things, if don't overspend. house 3 rooms, 1 bathroom landed house in rawang still can get 150k or sungai buloh townhouse 150k, kembangan, sepang, far abit but still can get freehold some more. monthly payment = 1k

car if 5k, drive a honda civic 2.0 still no problem. monthly payment = 1.5k

5k - epf - socso - tax = 4.4k - 1k - 1.5k = 1.9k

still cukup makan la wei...
