Hi xxx,

As per our earlier teleconversation, you mentioned that my request of RM 100 adjustment will be recommended after the probation.
May I know if this is confirmed and finalized? I don't seem to see this in my offer letter.
Please advise me on this matter.

Appreciate your reply to ensure our understanding is aligned.

Thanks.

Regards,
xxx

QUOTE(jobok @ Jun 15 2013, 03:28 PM)
the 1st interview...quite general....
i didnt expect to get the job...........just give a try....
i did ask for the job scope.....salary....
but the panel...just inform me very general... not to detail.....
based on my current job.....when i join the company....i've no idea....what would be my task....
that's why i thought the job scope kind changeable.....coz after join the current company....even provided with the detail job scope....still being given task which is not suppose to be mine...
*
You already requested once and now going to request for second time?
It may not look good on you as well, but you can try.

I have actually edited my earlier post and added this:
And it is not common to list down your roles and responsibilities on the offer letter.
It is subject to change according to the business requirement.

So, your R&R will not stay the same from the beginning of your job till the day you leave the company.

Take my case for example, when I took up this role, I only required to do Malaysia operations matter.
Not long ago, I was asked to do Singapore payroll but they managed to find someone on-board to take up this, so I didn't need to take up.
Then in March, I was told I will need to take up Bangladesh payroll from this month onwards due to some internal rotation. So, Bangladesh is in my portfolio effective this month.
Two days ago, I was told that Myanmar will be set up and I will take up that portfolio as well.
So it is Malaysia + Bangladesh + Myanmar on my plate now.
rclxub.gif

So, that's how it changes according to business requirements. Nothing is permanent...

However, the basic understanding of the role should be made understood before accepting the position.

Different industry, that's the reason. It's always fair to compare with your own industry. Having said so, if you know you are underpaid then find your way to make more.

Fruitie, location kepong, qualification degree. Am I underpaid? How much it should be? Thanks

Sorry, I misread your experience before joining as "24 months".
So you only had 14 months experience before joining, so that could be one of the reasons. Plus, your current company - a local company.
My suggestion is if your current company gives you good exposure, just take it up despite the salary. You can't be job hopping around as you learn nothing eventually.
For the past 24 months (14 months from previously and current 10 months), you have changed 2 jobs (am I correct?).

I have no experience in other fields, I'm sorry.
I'm currently in telco industry. smile.gif

How come 26 years old can become senior engineer?? Must be a small time company eyyy.
*
Does age determine seniority?
To me experience matters.

But then his 1.25 year of experience does sound little for a senior title.
That's just my thought la. I'm not offending anyone here. sweat.gif

I'm still a junior staff after in the same company for nearly 4 years. sweat.gif
Next year only will be promoted to senior, this was what promised by my boss.
But salary wise, I'm more than happy with my current salary. biggrin.gif

It is true that these days employees (especially female and Gen-Y) look for flexible working hours than reward. This was also reported in the survey conducted by TalentCorp and published on The Star on last Saturday.

I'm one of them too, I cannot trade off the flexibility I have here with slightly better remuneration that other employers could offer me, that's why I still have no intention to look out. Very bad as I'm already in comfort zone, this doesn't look good for me.

I come to office only at 10.00 a.m. and can go back anytime I want so long I finish my work but I usually go back around 7.00 p.m. la... Official working hours is 8.30-5.30. Most of the time 8.30, I'm still on my bed sleeping. sweat.gif

Another plus point is I can work from home whenever I want.

Today I came to office from hometown, so a bit earlier than my usual time. tongue.gif

QUOTE(c.h.m. @ Jul 8 2013, 12:46 PM)
I think it depends on what kind of reward we are looking at.
If the difference in terms of reward is more than 30-50% of your current remuneration, would one still prefer the flexibility?

But no doubt, from my many conversation with people and my own preference, hardly anyone likes to work in a very strict working hours environment (of course the exception must be made to manufacturing environment).

In my opinion, flexibility goes beyond just working hours, it could also include benefits, rewards, career opportunity, etc.
*
I said slight better remuneration. If 30-50% difference, I will consider.
Anyway, to me industry is very important. I want to stay in ICT, Telco or O&G.
Not interested in manufacturing industry. biggrin.gif

Ya, but I'm happy with my pay and benefits. Plus point, the flexibility as well. biggrin.gif

I think in the mean time, I shall stick to bigger scale company. Preferably a MNC as well. I like to be in MNC environment. biggrin.gif

You are really blessed as your boss is willing to hire an assistant for you just after awhile you handling everything on your own.

Not really an assistant la. I'm not so lucky. She is my peer. biggrin.gif
She will help to take over some of my tasks and sooner my entire current role. biggrin.gif
Then, I'll be redundant and ready to be terminated laugh.gif take up another portfolio which specializes in regional projects and will travel abroad all the time. nod.gif
This is what I wanted to do as my current role is all about routine task, I prefer project based. smile.gif

So, there it goes another set of new salary for a new role, most likely officially start next year. This is not revealed to me yet. smile.gif
I just got some very light adjustment this month, normal yearly adjustment. blush.gif

QUOTE(lifeanchor @ Jul 10 2013, 10:13 AM)
Dear All,

I started work in audit firm for around 1.5 years: RM 2,450/Bonus 1 month

Then move on to industry: RM 2,800

After 4 years: RM 3,700 with average bonus of 6-8 months.

I had offer from another MNC with 40% increase but bonus wise is around 1-2 months only.

Should I move on?

I'm doing corporate finance.
*
I prefer to have higher salary for future prospects.
Bonus varies from company to company, so that shouldn't be taken as benchmark.

Your future employers want to see your salary most of the time.
So, if you have a 40% adjustment, that's equivalent to 5,180.
Next time when you jump to another company, there is another leap.

If you stay with your current company, no doubt you may get 6-8 months bonus but your salary stays at 3,700.
Again, how sure are you that it is a guaranteed 6-8 months bonus? Is it stipulated in your contract?

That's my opinion.
