i bought a paif of office shoes from Tang's sale. Brand is Fabi, dunno famous or not, macam cheap brand, but apparently from italy. only rm80-90. full leather. wore it for more than a year already, and my previous job as houseman walk really a lot (8000-10000 steps per day), soles still like brand new until now, leather also no fade or koyak. stitching all intact. really tahan liao, worth the price.

Hello /k/, serious question here.

I bought a pair of Larrie work shoes that cost me close to RM200 about 6 months ago. I haven't worn it many times, just the few times that I went for job interviews and when I started my new job in beginning July. However, the depressions on the soles of the shoes are fading now, making them quite slippery on smooth wet surfaces.

Can anyone recommend a longer lasting work shoes brand?

When purchase the pair of leather shoes, first thing need to find good quality rubber soles. Make sure it is not plastic!! smile.gif

Depends on budget.
Rm700 and above: Florsheim
RM300-RM500: CLarks
Rm100-Rm200: Tomaz Shoes

for comfort - go for softer rubber sole.
a lot of 'leather' shoes are made of pu which scale off in a few years.
normally a genuine leather shoe prints the spec in the shoe
eg. top- calf leather
inner- leather
sole- leather / rubber
a lasting shoe usually have a sewed sole so if the glue give way, it won't turn buaya.

european imported shoe are quite lasting >5years
local shoe cannot keep long
clarks - comfy n lasting but some people say uncle shoe..
get clarks from their warehouse sale [rm150-250]

Personally I find my Kangaroo leather shoes to be surprisingly durable. The pair of shoes cost me about MYR210.00, but it has lasted since 3 years ago, and is still in good condition, and the thickness of the base is still about 85%.

I have a pair of Camel Active shoes that cost around MYR230.00 and I have worn it for about three years, before giving them to my father who continued to wear it until now. It has been about seven years.

I hate Bata shoes. They cost about MYR70.00 per pair, but I need to replace my shoes EVERY THREE MONTHS. Compare this with my Kangaroo leather shoes, I see shoes from Bata as complete trash and not worth the money. The designs are also a major turn-off for me.

My father dislikes Crocodile shoes. Although you may find good designs and they can be durable with regular use, my father has poor experience wearing them in rain. He finds shoes from Crocodile to be somewhat vulnerable to water, as there are plenty of glued parts which detaches upon repeated contact with water. You should probably avoid this in the rainy season.

For durability, take Red Wing. Otherwise try Rorine, this brand is really underated but their durability and comfort is much better and the price is cheaper.

Clarks.

Wait for their usual sale and get a proper pair, usually those that comes with goodyear welts.

My pair is at least 7 years? Leather still as good as the day I broke it in, the welts is gone, so I just have to go and change the sole (to Vibrams). Inside still great.

What you need to do is get 2 pairs of shoes and rotate them so they can breathe.
