QUOTE(ruffstuff @ May 24 2013, 10:23 AM) That is bs. Proton cars no where near 99k ~ 120k range. If that's so, how come the mirage are even allowed to be sell 55k? They perceived the K3 1.6 a dangerous threat to Inspira 2.0L RM93k. If they let K3 1.6 priced at RM94k-RM96k, do you think people will want to buy Inspira? Though based on Lancer, both the Inspira & Lancer are beginning to feel dated. Today, people are coming up with dual VVT, 6AT conventional gearbox that is more responsive and thanks to lockup convertor & dual clutch, shifting gears no longer jerky. FC wise, Inspira 2.0L at 8.8km/L to 9km/L is not better than Forte 2.0 in city & highway. It makes perfect sense that this new Cerato have better features than previos forte, thus the price is higher. Forte 1.6L with 6AT 0-100km/h in 11.5s Forte 2.0L with 6AT 0-100km/h in 9.8s Inspira 1.8 with CVT 0-100km/h in 11.5s Inspira 2.0 with CVT 0-100km/h in 10.5s Forte handling with VSC allowing it to turn at higher speed. Only weakness in its torsion beam is when going over uneven roads, if left side uneven and shaky, it'll affect the right. Multi-link only left side while the right will not be affected. Cerato with more aerodynamic design and more conti-feel is posing higher threat than the old Forte introduced here before Inspira exist. Elantra 1.6 is proven a threat to Inspira, they will not want Cerato K3 to get more slice out of Inspira sales pie chart. Both Elantra MD and Cerato K3 have dual CVVT and they get 1km/L better than Forte. Mitsu Mirage is powerd by low performance weaker than Myvi engine. That is how it passed the protection pricing. The same goes to Almera, P1 finds it an inferior goods and don't think it could affect Preve sales. Quality B-segment too are forced to set pricing no cheaper than Inspira lowest spec. That explains why Sonic and Rio 1.6 if introduced here will be forced to price at RM90k. |

however, i believe k3 1.6 still will cheaper than elantra 1.6, due to naza is the distributor of kia in malaysia, their pricing always lower than hyundai for the same segment, they still can do some "wonder" things... let's hope.
so elantra 1.6 price at 98k, k3 1.6 will be....... 97K? 96,888? nice number, lol... kao lat... |

QUOTE(westcoastbay @ May 26 2013, 11:56 AM) i heard that the current forte will be selling side by side with the cerato. that's why they are selling it with a higher price.maybe after this, forte will be competing with the city/vios while cerato with civic/altis? |

QUOTE(seongmeng @ May 25 2013, 10:49 AM) what is the problem even if it dropped to 40k?? I like this attitude. Buy car to please yourself and not for anyone else. I buy car is to enjoy the good ride and best safety feature in class, not the RSV!! I am driving my 5th car since my first car on 2007, and latest 2 is KIA..... Those who think otherwise, ask yourself.....isn't other enjoyment cost money also???!!! |

It's definitely got the looks though. Now although I haven't been in the K3 Cerato, I really don't expect that it would give you that conti-feel either. I'll be rather surprised if they can do it and price it under 110k. The closest continental-like car from the mass market Japanese/Korean to me right now is the new Mazda 6, but that car also falls short in many areas. |
